That's a good question! For me, for really dirty and greasy parts white (also called mineral) spirits works fine. It has a good degreasing action and does not corrode or attack paint. Just make sure you put a drip pan under the engine so the product doesn't end up in the soil and environment. Anyone has other or even better methods? Please share.

We're in sync here right now with our restorations! I just spent the better part of my time off of work cleaning parts including the frame and swing arm. Your frame and swing arm look great! The mineral spirits makes for a great cleaner. It even takes off road tar which is one of the hardest thing to clean off a bike. Great progress!

Overall this bike was still in good condition. A bit of degreasing was enough to get most parts looking new again. Looking forward to see your progress.

I've never tried White Spirit before but I'm gonna give it a go now, good job mate.

    The YZF 750...
The illegitimate child of the FZ 750 and the true father of the R1?

Definitely an offspring of the FZ 750. Especially the engine.

@@jh-tech5546 I can see the FZR1000 in there too...Yamaha was always careful with their evolution in designs making sure to keep the breed alive while making forward progress. This bike is a thing of beauty!
