    I’ve been using the 3 blade 125 gr. micro Hades pro for elk over the past 3 years. 1st year = tag soup. 2nd year = full pass on a double lung shot. Arrow stuck into a tree 10 yards past the elk. 3rd year = quartering to. Arrow went in right behind the shoulder and was sticking half way out of the opposite ham when I found him. Neither elk went 40 yards. They’re amazing broadheads! 60lb Mathews Chill R, 30 in draw, Easton Axis arrows.

    Looks just about like a Slick Trick so it should perform well! I've been shooting those since they were invented. The company owner was a Christian and a good man. He made his of American steel, until he couldn't get sharp blades. At that point, he started using Solingen steel blades fron Germany. I still use them exclusively now that I have to use a crossbow. They fly straight and penetrate animals like crazy. I've never had the urge to change, having had problems with mechanicals. Keep up the good work!

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před rokem

      I prefer the 4 blade. The cutting diameter is fairly small, and my set up can still drive it deep, so I like the extra cut.

  • @kyron2771
    @kyron2771 Před 5 lety

    I'd like to see your testing, but on a layered target. Something that the broadhead is constantly cutting through or penetrating through. What slows the arrow down in a target is friction. Well if there is only 1 Layer of MDF, then broadheads with the bigger circumference would have better penetration that a more narrow/sleeker broadhead like some of these mechanical/2blade fixed. Because they've made a bigger initial hole for the rest of the arrow to pass through. I might be wrong. Just seems like a layered medium would be more accurate. and easier to read. Perhaps layers of cardboard labeled, and perhaps compressed somehow to get consistency. IDK just brainstorming. Keep up the good work!

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for the comment Kyron. Great suggestion. Last year, I used a multi layered target--carpet, rubber, foam, plywood, cardboard, leather, etc. But this year I decided to try this new system. You would be surprised by how well some larger cutting heads penetrate, even compared to smaller cutting heads. There is not always a clear correlation. Maybe next year I'll go back to a multi layered medium. Thanks again!

    • @kyron2771
      @kyron2771 Před 5 lety

      @@LuskArcheryAdventures well, i think i didn't word it right. I think larger cutting/broader heads will create a bigger hole for the arrow shaft to penetrate through, and then their would be less friction slowing down the arrow shaft compared to a smaller cutting/penetrating head. which would actually skew the data.

    Great review. Have you seen the Magnus 4 Blade Hornet Ser-Razor Broadhead? I'm very curious to know if the serrations will out-preform a continuous cutting edge. There is a heated debate about that topic. I'm going back and forth between them and the Exodus (which I know preformed very well for you). If you get a chance to review the Hornet Ser-Razor, I'll be first to watch. Thanks.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you Vital Point. I did test it in one of my vids last year. I believe it was a test of the "Normal Priced Heads" or something like that. I tested the Magnus with the Exodus and the Muzzy, I think. It's a great head, but a two blade tip in that kind of steel will fold over when encountering certain mediums. However, it does penetrate really well and is a fairly tough head.

    The Hades pro series tips I have flatten very easy did they come with different tip

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před 5 lety +1

      Man, the ones I have sure don't flatten--this thing was razor sharp after all this testing. The Micro Series has a shorter tip than the non Micro Series and that may make a difference; it will certainly be tougher.

    What is your opinion between this head and a Bishop?

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před 4 lety +1

      Well, the bishop is more durable all round. The bishop is machined from a single piece of S7 Tool Steel, whereas the GR is a component head. But for the price, the GR is really tough!

    Any plans to test the VPA two and three blade broadheads?

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před 5 lety +1

      I did test the VPA 2 blade, in a comparison to a single bevel head; you can check that vid out. It was called Broadhead Battle: Single Bevel vs Double Bevel. VPAs are great heads and will certainly get the job done. I don't have any more funds at this point to add new heads to the testing lineup, but I should do more with the VPAs in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  Před 4 lety

      It's actually a common test. If a head can handle that, then it can most certainly handle a tough bone. Is it necessary for hunting? Of course not. But if all other things are equal, why not pick the one that can handle this?

      Well, I tested those a while back. They flew great but the blades were incredibly dull and weak. Even after I sharpened them up, they would lose their edge very quickly. Penetration was also very poor.

      I've tested just about every Rage model made. They're great heads, but no where near as tough as the Sevr; different league entirely, especially with the Sevr 1.5 and Sevr 1.7

      @406life Před 5 lety +2

      I'm not mr.Lusk but I've used toxics for elk and il tell you first hand they sucked At least in my opinion anyways, they don't penetrate well at all. If you use helical or offset fletching they don't shoot good at all that being said For deer they are very effective with the right arrow set up.Just what I've found. I shoot 450 grain arrow at 260fps for kinetic energy reference.
