- In this i answered a very frequently asked question asked from me regarding tuning a car or remapping a diesel car also known as performance chip tuning and its credibility , a lot of confusion around this topic in the community about the safety of engine after remap , daily driving after remap , power claims , torque claims , affect of remap on engine and power-train components , increased EGT's ( exhaust gas temperature ) , clutch , flywheel , transmission issues , effect of remap on turbocharger and various other topics covered

Adding to that, service intervals are also planned according to manufacturers test scenarios, and post tuning we cant follow the same I believe. Much appreciated information, always good to be informed before you jump at it. Thank you bro.
Yes i almost forgot that point 😅
Your in depth understanding is outstanding 👏 and conceptual💯
Thank You Brother for Changed my mind, Wow Lot of Consideration, Really Professional explanation, Great!
New intro nice bhai 👍
A very factual video bother ... I advised one of my frnd to swap the engine instead of doing all these remaps and stage one two or three upgrade
He can simply go for old jetta TDI engine instead of doing so many tunes and upgrades in vento 1.4 TDI engine
Exactly sir , very few people understand this .
Good one bro..👍🏼
Great video 👍 ❤️ their marketing is lot aggressive these days 😀
It's really good that you're replying to almost all the comments with all that car info they wanted . I just wanted to know does a Stage 1 tune hurt the car in any way. And can i reverse the tune whenever i want. I own a bMw 530D 2019. 8k driven. I wanted that extra 20-30% Up in the BHP AND Nm but is it really worth the risk. Thanks
Considering 5 series , the related parts should have enough margin to handle the power , so there should be no issues , just make sure that the tuner is reputed and knows what is he doing
Grt informative
Thank you!!
Hello! Great channel and every video is so damn informative. Keep up the good work. While I’m here, would like to ask if my 2019 1.5 TDI polo can be stage 1 remapped to GT TDI spec ( which is the same block and mechanicals) which is a 20 hp and 20 nm hike? Also, my car has run for 20k kms and I have been feeling a lack of pulling power in higher gears at the bottom end. For example, the car would pull cleanly from 60 kmph in 5th gear, but these days it feels like it’s missing some of that torque and I have to shift back to fourth. It has been recenty serviced and all filters, oil etc have been changed. Your help to identify what the cause (s) might be will be appreciated.
Thanks alot for appreciation sir .🙂
Remapping normal polo TDi to GT specs is perfectly safe as far as the maximum limits of all the components go , but if you are going to a tuner for a remap and if that tuner has a backup of someone else's GT then its means you got same which VW gave to a GT and that will be perfectly safe for vehicle , but if that tuner tried to bump up the power by 20hp and torque to 20 nm with their own remap , then it will not be safe , because manufacturers spend a lot of time to develop a map which is safe for your power-train in every aspect , so if you can find a tuner with a backup map , then its a win win situation
Secondly , lacking power in lower rev range ,
Usually when diesels experience a lag in lower end then the first step is to clean the MAF sensor then moving the attention towards the egr return pipe ( which is intentionally designed to get clogged before the EGR gets clogged , as its easier to clean the return pipe than removing the complete EGR assembly ) get the return cleaned and then the intercooler cleaning ( as hot oil vapour exit from the CCV system and as soon as they gets mixed with intake air and then travels to intercooler , it gets cool down and those vapours gets condensed again and turn to oil , thats the reason intercooler has oil inside it , and that oil decreases the cooling efficiency of the intercooler to cool the charge air coming from the turbocharger )
As we all know , colder more denser air is very essential for engine to produce good low end grunt .
So most probably cleaning these 3 things will solve your problem of low end grunt .
And sir i have one question for you , if you want to answer , which engine oil do you use ?
Hope this helps 🙂🙂
@@yourDIYneeds Thanks a ton my friend. The oil in use is the one they stock at the VW service centre. Which if I remember correctly is the shell helix ultra. Will get these things recommended by you addressed during the next service which is due in a month or so. Have changed the oil at 7k, 15k and will get it changed again around 22-23k kms. Again, keep up the great work you do 👍🏻
Atleast ones try liqui moly , believe me you will love it .
@@yourDIYneeds Done thing sir! Will definitely do try liqui moly this time. Have been following your channel for nearly two years now. It pleases me to see an enthusiast who is hands on and knows so much. Makes life a lot easier for people like us who have to depend on service centres or mechanics who usually don’t have a resolution for the minute changes we observe in the car. To them, everything is fine until the car breaks down. Would love to catch up some time if I know which part of the country you call home. I’m from Bombay.
Again, thank you for doing what you do!
Sure sir will love to meet , i reside in delhi
And it means alot when i receive appreciation from people who are really into maintaining their vehicles . 🙂🙂
Thanks alot
Nice
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Worth getting slavia 1L tsi stage 1 tuned? Or need to upgrade any other components as well? Thanks
Sir 1L is a good engine but have to bear the inherited 3 cylinder vibration and harshness
A cold air intake would be a nice mod with stage 1 tune
Bro whats your opinion on remapping bs6 diesel to stage 1+ remap ? Will dpf cause any problems?
Sir , that totally depends upon the fuel mapping , if the remap is not able to maintain the stoichiometric ratio as per the cylinder then either it will run rich or lean , in lean engine have to deal with extra heat and in rich your cateletic convertor and DPF has to deal to unburnt leftover fuel , which will definately effect .
So my advice , if you really want to go for remap then , do your homework properly about which Shop is the most reputed in remaps and which supports the customer even after getting paid .
i put dogbone from 1.4petrol in 1.6tdi polo, broke in 3 pieces after few wheelspins. i think becouse of stage 1😂
Intrusive thoughts 🤣🤣🤣 what will happen . 🤣
No need to remap ecu I have vento 1.5 TDI 108BHP is enough for thrust 😅
Very good video can I use grabriel front shocks in polo???
Yes sir , you can
Hi sir my 1.0 tsi polo highline manual has low end lag and the tuner suggested to tune to stage 2 which improves low end performance bumping figures to 138hp and 223nm is it safe for the transmissions and components?
To be true , no sir ,
Remap gives you power but it takes away life , equation will always comes out to be balanced
Planning to install a BMC Air filter instead of remap mod, will the initial pick up improve?
Can't say anything about the pickup, but efficiency of cleaning the air will definitely decrease
I have 3 litre BMW diesel. 245bhp standard. Runs great at 310bhp remapped
I have a 530D 2019. I wanted a stage 1 tune wanna ask questions. Revert asap mate
Yes brother i just want your opinion in this. I drive a vw polo tsi 1.2 2017 model highline 81kw. 175nm. Im not sure what the peak power for the parts are. But if i can get alteast 25% more on both kw and torque, will it be safe for this car?
Sir the clutchpack for 1.2 tsi is rated for max 210nm , HP or KW is just a derivative which we calculate on the basis of torque output , so as far as i think anything close to 200nm will be safe , just keep in mind that what we are doing is , making the safe window narrow than before .
@@yourDIYneeds i appreciate the feedback brother.
Hello Sir, How are you doing? Hope everything is going well. Sir, in my dads Tata Safari Dicor, when i turned on the ignition before cranking engine, the malfunction lamp is not glowing, only the sedimenter lamp in turning on and off. I disconnected the maf senor clip, but still the malfunction lamp not turning on..i checked all fuses and everything is fine. Can you tell me what may be the causes Sir and already i have hunting and vibration issues for quite sometime..only yest i realised the malfunction lamp is not glowing when turning key on.
Sir it can be just a blown bulb , or worst case can be issues with ECU itself
@@yourDIYneeds Thankyou Sir, i will check it out Sir.
Sir, first thing your knowledge is grate. I have ? I have purchase vento 1.5 tdi 2015 & then in Auj 2016 software update after update loss of power till not getting like previous so I want to go towards dieseltronic unit is worth for me please reply waiting for your suggestion.
No sir , no piggyback ecu will provide you a reliable source of power and most of time they just force the engine to run in pseudo situation , best is to go to a tuner and ask him if he has a backup of pre-update software of polo 1.5 tdi and thats the best option
@@yourDIYneeds thanks sir..for fast reply. stage 1 is worth.
Sir , that totally depends upon how good the remap is , if its consistent then it will not hamper the reliability of the engine much but in other case we have to consider everything like clutch life , EGT , boost hike , stress on cooling system and pre-remap condition of connecting rod bearings as well .
I have Volkswagen Polo 1.5tdi have engine oil leakage from pcv valve on air intake side . Is there any issue ??
Quite common sir , there is a rubber o-ring which starts to leak
@@yourDIYneeds how to change that O-ring ?
Sir , just press the pipe clip from both sides , pull it backwards , remove the O-ring , place new one and push the pipe back on its place ,
Pretty easy
Where did u get those beautiful break paddle covers 😍

VW dq200 is rated for 250nm and tdi produces 250 for near to zero room for performance upgrade. I'm sure it can handle 280nm but long-term durability will definitely be hit and so is with engines.
Sir thats the truth , parts can handle 4-5% extra , but anything above that will take a toll on reliability
Bro using verna fluidic diesel should i go for synthetic or mineral engine oil in winters as i live in north india
Which brand would u suggest ??
Sir synthetic is always superior than mineral oil because of the fact that Synthetic oil has a homogeneous particle size ,
Go for any decent brand no issues , just try to avoid castrol as there are alot of fake products in market due to over popularity of the brand .
@@yourDIYneeds wt about the grade here i think it varies acc to temp as winters are approaching temp wont touch 45 now but it will dip to 2-4 degree in north india
Which brand and grade u will sgst ??
Sir for grade , i will recommend to stick with the manufacturer's recommendation as its the best grade for your engine , we people have a misunderstanding that we can change the grade anytime but the reality is that , an engine is designed around an engine oil , all its clearances are kept in that order while keeping the oil grade in mind .
And for the brand , i guess shell is a good option , which performs as well and is in middle range for cost perspective
@@yourDIYneeds shell 🐚 05-30or 05-40 which is the better and please explain more about what are the deferent

Sir this video will clear your doubts in detail
I have an altroz iTurbo, it has a detuned Nexon engine, can I go for remapping it? Will still the problems mentioned in this video persist?
Sir just check for the parts , if it has the same gearbox as nexon then you can go for it
@@yourDIYneeds Nexon has a 6 speed and altroz iTurbo has a 5 speed transmission
Sir if it has a different transmission then most probably the clutch pack will also be different, which means it's rated for a different max torque rating
@@yourDIYneeds understood, thanks for sharing your thoughts
Iam having a 1.2 mpi polo driven around 17k . I want to get it tuned what would be your suggestion. Which tuner is best .
Sir , its a 1.2 mpi , power can be increased but not too much , as its a naturally aspirated engine , you can go for Pete's or tune -o- tronics or code6 , all of them have a good reputation. Just try not to go full onboard with the tune , keep it mild for better reliability
@@yourDIYneeds what’s the maximum I can go
Sir like 15-20% more than stock
Is vcds tweeking safe and worth it for brand new vehicle
Vcds tweeks are perfectly safe , nothing to worry about
Hello Sir. I want to talk about this topic, but for now my problem is different. My 1.6 TDi Vento's 2nd injector failed yesterday. I went to the VW service station today, and they gave me a quote of 22.5k for the injector and labor extra. My local mechanic says that I should not replace it, but repair it. Sir, can you please guide me to what to do? I want to repair the injector as it would not cost me much. But what would be the consequences if I repair it?
Sir , vento and 1.6 tdi polos from 2010-2013 model , face these issues alot , maybe issues with injectors or something , you can go for repaired injector but that injector needs to be balanced with all 4 of injectors , so that your vehicle can achieve a smooth idle , a little bit of offset can be corrected by your ECU by adjusting the pulse width but if the offset is big then even the ECU won't be able to adjust
@@yourDIYneeds How are injectors balanced for smooth idle?
Sir here is an explanation
czcams.com/video/bdbaLKn611I/video.html
@@yourDIYneeds Thankyou
@@yourDIYneeds My mechanic says that he will take out the injector and repair it at Injector repair center. I asked him about the coding and balancing, he said that everything is done at Injector repairing center, and he just has to put back the injector once it gets repaired. Is it so? Do I need to ask my mechanic anything more, or should I tell him to start the work?
bro the car ur in is polo gt or 1.5 tdi ?
Sir polo tdi
I’m in need of some suggestions.
Actually I got my Harrier XZA+ 2022 tuned to Stage1 +…suddenly after putting back ecu the car was not going past 1600 rpm. No matter what, even if the car is in neutral.
Initially when I faced the problem the Check Engine Light popped for a few seconds and went off and hasn’t popped back up ever since while car is running.
When I put it in Drive the car crawls and no matter how deep I push the accelerator pedal there is no acceleration past 20-25kmph and rpm doesn’t push above 1600rpm.
There are no other signs of any issue…except for this when I drive.
Have given the car to Tata Service center and they are scratching their heads unable to diagnose the issue.Even they’re OBD tool showed only 4 DTC issues that too memorised. They checked the fuel lining but couldn’t find issues with it, they did check the brake switch but that was also fine. However upon some research I have come to know that the fault may be with the Brake Switch Relay as well which I don’t think they have checked.I have informed them the same.
This problem is completely new for the Service Center.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Hoping to get my car fixed asap.
Sir , if this problem came just after the remap then most probably it can be related to the new map you got , maybe the new map is not complete, it may had left some inputs which the system requires for running.
If the service centre had diagnosed the car , and they didn't get to any conclusion .
Have they pointed out the remap or not ?
Also check the output voltage of the throttle pedal , just to keep an eye on all the aspects
@@yourDIYneeds they have checked everything in the car but can’t find the issue…I have not told then about the remap as it may void my warranty.
Yes that's true . Quite amazed that they didn't figured it out yet , sir then check the throttle sensor once , but remember this thing sir , that somethimes ECUs can go into safe mode as well
@@yourDIYneeds Tata guys have replaced MAF and DEF sensor, also replaced accelerator pedal, checked gearbox grounding, fuel line, fuel tank pipes…but nothing has helped…I have researched about this issue and maybe it’s ecu issue…tuner may not have done tune properly and now is saying issue is bcoz of wiring harness…there is no check engine light also…planning to flash stock ecu back by Thursday…tuner also said even if I flash back stock ecu problem will still be there.
Sir in tuning, we always have a issue of bricking the ECU but as far as i have heard , ECU just stops working, but this is the first time that its working partially after remap
This is applicable even to Stage I tune?
Yes sir , it all depends upon how much breathing space does certain parts have , before they give up .
Can I change only air filter?
Sir for remap ?
cursed with a 1 litre polo mpi, a daily driver, lack of power kills all the libido, I have no option rather than remapping for the least drivability , whats your take?
😅😅 sir 1 ltr engine without turbo charging is more like a calm family car , not something enthusiast wants . Yes you can go for remap but don't expect much from a stage 1 remap , like 15-20% is achievable , they may claim 30-50% but its very difficult to attain
@@yourDIYneeds i know, but neither want to sell the Polo for impeccable build quality. Have to be happy with whatever 15-20 i get more
Yes sir , thats the only option 👍
@@yourDIYneeds just one last thing, as a daily driver i think it wont be hazzardous as such u spoke about in the video? I have a Merc E Class for my leisure ar home, this Polo was brought by father in my absence and didnt plan to quite drive it back then. Now as a daily driver stage 1 tuning won't be probelmatic as such right if done properly along side replacing the air filter..
Sir , it all depends upon how much breathing space does certain parts have , before they give up
Example - i have a 1.5 tdi , it produces 230NM of torque , but if i look up at the maximum clamping force of the clutch assembly, its rated at 300NM
So if a remap promises me to push the torque to 295NM then , i am literally pushing the part to its absolute limit ,
This is one of the reasons normal polo TDI has 230NM and even GT TDI has 250NM .
So it's not the engine , which is not capable of producing more , it's always about the parts which are connected to the engine to make a drivetrain, they all have a certain rating .
So i just want to say that choose your remap wisely so that it doesn't become a headache.
If you want a fast car, buy a fast car. Is basically the advice 💪
Yes , exactly sir
Have you heard about ICD tunners chennai, they do a good job, they change bigger radiator, bigger turbo and aluminum pipes, silicon rubbers, I believe it will not the engine. Wat is ur thoughts bro.
Sir pistons , clutch and basic support structure remains the same , bigger radiator is for extra cooling the the strength of the system remains the same
Obviously if they are changing turbo it will be a stage 3 and they also change piston rods and crank
Dont know about other vehicles but VW group vehicles handle remaps pretty well and are very tuner friendly
Hlo sir TATA SAFARI ke v koi apdate deo g please answer
Sir next video safari ki hi hai !
