The baseball scenes in this movie are incredible. You could tell they really paid attention to the actors they hired for this.
For sure. A lot of them played baseball at one point, Scott Patterson/McGreavy was actually a really good pitcher growing up and you can tell from his mechanics. Was also really cool how they used actual players from that era (legit ones at that)
All the ballplayer actors in the movie were semi-professional or higher real baseball players
Why do people hate this film? It’s great!
It's great to have true mlb players like they don't use in other baseball movies.
This is one of the very few sports movies that I would classify as quality. It's so much better than movies like major league or rookie of the Year

If you wanted to put it ahead of ML though, put it ahead of Major League II. It tried too much to be like the original.

This is the best movie with realistic baseball. No quick cuts. Great baseball movie that pretty funny

This whole movie is an incredible love letter to baseball. Such good action and great baseball logic and strategy in it
Rookie Of The Year was ok, but this is better.
The soundtrack of this movie was just great.
Marqui Skeins it also fit every little Montage so good!!
Randy Johnson & Ken Griffey Jr. were awesome in this movie and the ending...what a gamble, but makes the movie so much better!

When Booker T and The MG's are assisting with the soundtrack, it's damn near impossible to have bad music.
My dad played in the cape cod league back in the mid 70's and he said there were guys just like the two at 2:38 and they were nuts haha. When he saw this scene for the first time, we re-played it about 10 more times bc he was laughing so hard bc it brought back a bunch of memories.
They filmed the actual playing on the field superbly. Its be awesome if we could get these camera angles in MLB games

Of any sports movie, this one has the best action sports scenes of all of them imo. They used real baseball players, and the turnout was incredible. Except Timothy Busfield. But his swing from the left side is so great in this movie. My brother just said he wanted his kids to see this. I can't wait to watch it again with them.
Busfield played ball in college so he was a real player too.

Actually he released him but same result. It was a nice touch that they made amends at the end by bringing him back as a coach.

An impressive pedigree for a film considered a kids movie. I can usually gauge the awesomeness of a film by how many people involved in it have worked with Aaron Sorkin. (With the exception of First Kid)
