  • This is one of the montages from the film Little Big League, set to the Dion song "Runaround Sue." This movie is definitely one of my guilty pleasures, and I've always enjoyed this scene for some reason, so I thought I'd post it up here.
    Other Little Big League montages:

Between 1988 and 1994 it was great time to be a young baseball fan. So many good baseball movies came out during this time. Bull durham, eight men out, Major league, field of dreams, a league of their own, mr baseball, the sandlot, rookie of the year, little big league cobb and angels in the outfield. Good times!

For real, filming that probably took a few takes… not an easy thing to pull off. Unless these guys were previous baseball players. Idk about their backgrounds. If they weren’t, that definitely took a couple takes to get that perfect of a shot

For some reason this scene was recorded over part of my family’s copy of Goldeneye. Specifically the part in the courtyard with the statues where Trevelyan reveals he’s still alive and what his plan is.
Growing up, part of watching Goldeneye involved a brief baseball interlude and I had no idea I was missing a critical moment in the movie. I remember the first time I watched Little Big League and got to this part I flipped out and was like “this is the thing from Goldeneye!”

    A double whammy of nostalgia:
My brother and I were nine when this movie launched. On a Tuesday night in July 1994 after Little League, my mom said to us "Well, we can go to the drive-in to see this, or we can go home and watch baseball's all-star game."
My bro and I picked this at the drive-in. One of our favourites to this day, and a VHS copy of it was our Christmas present from our grandma that year - her second favourite song ever being "Runaround Sue".

Wasn't it a bit odd to make the Twins an "underdog" sort of team when they had just won a World Series championship just three years prior?
And considering all the other real life players in this movie they couldn't get Kirby Puckett or any of the other Twinkies to be in this movie?
