- Had to revert to analog for this one :D but I thought it was worth looking at after trying it for myself. this is not an in depth review by any means but just highlighting a few things I thought I didn't hear from other reviews. Default settings aren't optimized for best transmission if you intend to use this camera as an fps camera. there is a discrepancy with the frame rate seeing it tops out at 50P and NTSC is 60. So switching to PAL with 50p or NTSC for 30P will be much better in therms of fpv view. And just switching frame rate doesn't change the transmission, that has to be done separately. 30P is always going to look with stutters but at least it's consistent. I think lack of 60P will steer many people away from this one. but for me 30 is good for cinematic at this size and on 1s.

I just got this and I'm excited to use it!
Awesome 😎 hope it works out great for you! It’s still one of my favourite cameras!
yeah the hawkeye for night is great. love mine.
many thanks Daniel, I fitted my mobula8 with it after I watch this, funny thing is that in my opinion, aside from the stutter, the fpv image is actually better than the caddx ant that the drone came with. Great little cinewhoop, +4 mins with 520mah 2s
That’s amazing 😎 glad I could inspire! The funny thing is I have many digital drones and my favourite are the analog 2 I built with this Hawkeye 4k cause they are so simple and give best results!
Amazing, these budget thumb cameras have sure come a long way in terms of image quality. Thanks for sharing, that was some beautiful footage, apart from the jello 👍
Thank you for watching 😎 and yes I was definitely surprised at the quality at this price point! I gotta get that ND filter to kill that jello. Also after I tuned the drone the jello went away. I should have waited to post better video haha
Hey, good work! :] Trying out the Runcam thumb 4k this spring . Good to know the Hawkeye does night shots well tho...
Amazing video. The dive in the night in the driveway was the best! Btw could you also share your settings on gyroflow for this cam? Thanks
Thank you very much 😎😎 In that night scene gyroflow was only used for lens correction and I didn’t use the stabilisation at all because at that point I had a nice tune on the drone. But for all other scenes the only things I changed was adding 6 to 8 sync points and turning off dynamic zoom and setting smoothness to about 0.145 it will depend a lot on how you fly and how smooth your drone flys naturally. It also works with dynamic zoom left on but I don’t like to use it if I don’t have to
Forgot to add for the wide screen look under the export settings just turn up the number for the width by about 400 I think. U can play with the amount and see what looks best for you and adjust the FOV to best fit it
Hello friend, daytime shots are truly amazing. The image flows like oil. Could you please share what settings you are using now? thanks
That looks great, i like how it's a dual function
That’s what I love about it the most! I hope we see more cameras like this 😎
@@DanielSingerX me too, thanks for the review!
@@aerialcombat You’re welcome and thanks for watching 💫
'Can be used in place of an FPV camera'.......... I was wondering when this would happen. I would suggest an ND filter to take care of the little stuff. It wouldn't surprise me if the only real difference between the Hawkeye and Insta is the sensor and lens. Great vid again Daniel. Thx!
If I had access to a long, drawn-out beach like that.....the long range videos would be awesome. I miss Brasil. :(
Oh yeah the ND filter would make it way better for sure! I had the option to get it when I purchased this but I honestly thought it was gonna suck.
I seriously love this setup using it as an FPV camera and hope it catches on! Also I have definitely done some serious long range flying at this beach 😎 it’s just a sketchy subject to post about but I may do a video on that soon.
Brazil is one of the few places I haven’t been yet! but hear it’s lovely there so I’m not surprised you miss it :( Thanks for watching 😎
+1👍 💪
really interesting; i've followed hawkeye for a few years; they really keep R&D up. not always the best picture, but always good. audio was always lacking what are your thoughts on it's audio if it even has such?
U know my one regret making this video was not mentioning audio😦! Basically I normally turn the audio off when I watch back my footage, but I must say the audio from this isn't as bad as some of the other cameras I've heard! Its LOUD! but not loud like the others, its more of a low to mid droning tone with the motors. But this can be because this is a 3 inch low kv and weight build and the motors don't scream that high pitch we normally hear. It doesn't sound overly distorted for me! another thing is flying fast there might be a lot of wind noise but I haven't experienced this cause I haven't gone that fast. Ive tried older Hawkeye cameras and never liked them. This feels like at least a slight step up from what I remembered
@@DanielSingerX goo info. could also solder resister between +/- on mic if needed. do youtube search.
Excellent review. I am likely to purchase based upon your review. Any more details on your 1S drone you using it with ? Would love to replicate. Thanks Brendan
Thank you very much 😎 I liked this camera so much I now have 2! and i'd highly recommend getting the ND filter that's made for it! It makes a world of difference cleaning up the vibrations. Im going to paste a reply I left for someone else who asked about the drone I made. To be honest its not the very best because I used very under powered motors but this is because the camera has a bit of latency and its best flown as cinematic even tho I have done some good freestyle on it. I will probably make a video on the updated setup and shots I'm getting now soon.
Flight controller is: Happymodel ExpressLRS F4 5A 5-in-1 AIO FC w/ Built-in 2.4GHz Rx
Motors are: geprc 1202 6000kv
Frame is cut bottom plate of betafpv HX115 LR
Canopy is printed from here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6082154
Flight controller was slightly modified removing cube Elrs antenna and direct soldering an ep2 antenna. These motors are quite old and hard to find now but I’d recommend going to at least 8000kv and using 1103 motors could also have good results 😎
Hello daniel, need few tips from u
1. Do u use nd filter provided and what is the cam setting?
2. What is cam setting for night recording?
3. NTSC vs PAL which is better?
Video terbaik dari camera hawkeye..
Can you share the details of the drone used, frame, motor and others, I'm planning to experiment with the Mobula 7 HD 2S, with a 2 inch prop, still looking for a suitable prop and frame.
Thanks Daniel for the lovely video. Please share the complete build exactly shown in this Video. You got a subscriber from India 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much 😎 I'm going to write you the specs of this build when I get back home later! I think I will also make another video about this build in the future

Oh wow! can you share the gyroflow settings you used to correct the wobble/jello? I can't seem to get rid of it but your footage looks awesome!
Thank you 😎 I didn’t change too many things in gyroflow except for the sync points putting about 8 and decreasing the smoothness to around 0.135 . A lot depends on how much motor/prop vibration your build has. Overall I’ve found it easy to get a good result from gyroflow on this camera compared to others
素晴らしい。レビューです。勉強になりました。
You should make a build tutorial im curious about the drone. 8mins ? what battery are you using ?
I thought about making a tutorial about this drone because so many asked about it! But it’s not all great because to get that flight time on a 1s battery it ends up being very under powered but still good for cinematic type flying. The battery was a 750mah 1s lipo. I believe the battery was GNB brand
Hey, I know how to work the cam but I don't know how to transfer the video to pc or phone, do you have another video on that?
Sorry for late reply! Transferring the video should be super simple. If you plug the USB C in it should just show up as a drive on your computer by default. And the same should work on your phone if you have Android or IOS with OTG capabilities. U could also just take the SD card out and get an SD card reader. I personally just plug it directly to usb and it always works. You may have to wait a bit for the drive to pop up. It's the same procedure for most devices so I didn't think to make a video. If it doesn't show up with USB then Maybe check that the menu settings in the camera are set to storage mode for USB
What the drone ??
friend excellent video . how to connect ? only hawkeye camera FPV + record video ? could you explain connection settings on the FC
It’s very simple to get the fpv video feed to the flight controller. There’s only one pin on the back of the camera that you attach to the video input of your vtx just as you would with any normal camera. But to get the controls where you can start recording using the controller require a connection to a free TX uart and there has to be some CLI programming to enable the command to start and stop, recording using a switch on the radio. It’s a lot to explain and would require a video to explain. It’s basically setting up betaflight piniobox for camera control
Hello friend, I received the camera today and connected it. I request you to share which settings you use for the best daytime shooting. Thank you very much.
Should I get the runcam thumb (normal, not pro) or the hawkeye 4k? The thumb, thumb pro and hawkeye cost 60, 100 and 70 euro for me, respectively.
I would say the regular runcam thumb is not recommended because using gyroflow with it is not good especially if you have even the smallest vibrations. That leaves the Hawkeye and thumb pro. With the pricing I’d definitely go with the Hawkeye! Gyroflow works a lot better! However if you’re not going to be using gyroflow at all then the regular thumb would be ok if you didn’t mind the reduced quality of just 1080
what flight controller are you using ?
Honestly, id take the better durability of the Hawkeye over the better image, i went though 8 rk thumbs that just die when bumped, i beat the crap out if the Hawkeye and even put it in a creek... but, I wish they would make a cube shaped version, 3 square boards, the sensor board, processing biard and a dvr biard, and why not throw a 800-1.6w vtx right in it, just add power!
Yeah I totally agree with this! I haven’t broken any of the thumb cameras but maybe that’s because I don’t fly much with them lol. I prefer the overall image look of this Hawkeye even tho the image isn’t as sharp. And they should totally make a camera that has everything integrated. I wish they made a digital fpv version in this format
what frame are you using ?
This is a cut bottom plate of the betafpv HX115 LR frame. I used it because it slightly puts the props more out of view and it’s very light
no 60fps, basically DOA to me. the only place i tolerate PAL is my PS2. come on, i know 60FPS is a lot of data, but skimping to 50 is rough.
Daniel, what do you mean with lens correction? Do you mean on Gyroflow or the cam setting itself?
That’s a setting in gyroflow! It’s what gets rid of the fish eye of the lens and makes straight lines at the edge of the frame actually look straight instead of curved from the fish eye effect 😎
