Good to hear. My thumb pro arrived today.
Great overview Lee. I have this camera and I use the cable with USB C on one end and red phono jack on the other end (I believe it's labelled DJI). That cable plugs right into my Orqa goggles AV IN and works great for viewing the settings menu.
Great work here Lee, I appreciate it.. Enjoy the Breeze...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
Fantastic review, Lee! Thanks! 😃
I have a few Hawkeye cameras and really like them! I absolutely agree that they should up their game with this one, but if you compare with the first RunCam attempt, the one that just recorded in 1080P, this one is much better!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great review...am glad i watched this before buying.
I’m glad that I have the run cam pro, love the video quality of it and even though I’m a bit of an amateur I’ve managed to use gyro flow to improve the video.
What a great video.
I'm Your Fan.
Thank you for the comparison.
Thanks Lee, its 10^-10000 4k, feels like 2012
nice and thorough review
I use the Hawkeye naked 4k and the 4k split and they are pretty good. Not quite Runcam quality but it’s 1/2 the price so can’t beat it for the money
Hawkeye, I believe, put out a camera many many moons ago, the Firefly 4K. It was a glorious little camera, like a Mobius on steroids! Unfortunately it was very very flimsy, the opposite of what made the Mobius so popular, and as such the Firefly never really took off. Too bad. Maybe round 2? Just about a month ago, I spent roughly the same amount, $60 US, on a slightly used Insta360 SMO 4K, and also have a Insta360/Caddx Peanut - but would give the RunCam Thumb a shot if I was in the market, probably not this Hawkeye though, maybe the 2nd version. Thanks again, as usual, as always Sir!
Doing all that to get to the menu is a headache 😩.
Bravo.perfect
Comprei essa câmera Hawkeye para o Tinygo e também o aeromodelo, e espero em breve fazer os primeiros testes.
Best of luck!
I have a few hawkeyes. There is always something ‘off’ about the video. Like shadows are too dark. Dark trees and bushes are just black blobs.
Great comparison. btw. can you write more about your power cable for Runcam Thumb pro?
czcams.com/video/7cHHjLU0NYE/video.html
I'm real curious if it's more durable the the runcam, I have gone through 8 of the pro and pro-w! the runcam pro's just keep dying on me, it just doesn't like being bumped at all, even just disarming a foot off the ground like I do to land in grass or to prevent air mode hopping and they just quit working... I have the original 1080 version and it's been through hell!
I'd check how you're powering the thumb. Sounds like it's getting overvoltage on your build... Happy flying
Hi! Mine HawkEye have issue with frame doubling/skipping which leads to misalignment of video and gyro data. Can you confirm, does your camera have same issue?
I've not used mine a lot as I am not a fan. I'd check for any firmware updates... Best
I’m trying to use one of the cameras on my hat brim, would I be able to make that work?
I don't see why not... Best of luck
Wow a sunshine day in Britain, who would have thought. Sorry let's face it what little I know about British weather come from the Tele. Big fan of your channel good information . Sadly I have no place to fly, without driving a long distance , and spend much of my time babysitting youngest grandson, and dropping his sister off at school. The lad is at the potty training stage... good grief. He is 16th out of 18, having lost his baby status to twin girls . Enough about me . As always wishing you the best , take care.
you cannot adjust FOV, picture doesnt change
i bought the hawkeye thumb 4k and the clarity is so awful so i dismantle the casing and adjusted the camera lens and now the picture is ever clearer compare to my gopro hero 8 black
how to adjust lens? is it glued? Does it need heating? Any compare sample pictures with hero8? thanks
@@relaxvideo3d remove the four screws, access the camera lens u will notice it is glued so remove the glue by plucking it with a pin then turn the camera lens clockwise just less than or a 1/4 turn then test first the camera... just reapply glue after focus has been corrected
What a shame that the manufacturer isn't getting this right, from the factory... Happy flying
So, It can be used both as analog FPV camera and onboard recorder?
Last time I checked, it was only an action camera... Happy flying
Is runcam's ND filter compatible with hwawkeye?
sadly no, just tried it and it doesn't fit. there's two teeth horizontally that hold it on the hawkeye, while there's 3 teeth triangular for the thumb v1. you would have to grind down one of the teeth on the hawkeye.
hi can i ask which is better, runcam thumb pro v2 or gopro hero 6?
Better in what way?
@@Painless360for video result,which is better?
Resolution for Resolution, the Gopro will almost always be better. Lenses are larger and the product is more sophisticated. It depends what you want. I don't fly with GoPro here but use them in content creation. GoPro is no friend to the RC hobby... Happy flying
Should I get a runcam HD or hawkeye thumb 4k?
I prefer the Runcam myself. See my videos on it
@@Painless360 Does that also go for the non-4k version?
Which is the cheapest monitor to buy? I should get it to use the camera
Not sure what you mean, 'monitor'?
@@Painless360 I mean The LCD display used to change camera settings. I would like to use the camera on a weather balloon, using it to record video to SD, and perhaps broadcast live in FPV
I see. I used an old FPV monitor with a 3.5mm AV input... Best of luck
Why not save your gyroflow output in H264... The cam records in H265 because it has terrible write speeds, but gyroflow can take in 265 and kick out 264.
I cannot play a video recorded in H265 until it has been gyroflowed into 264...
That is a great suggestion and the way that I ended up translating the video for the review. However, I don't want to have to do that every time to just watch the recording.. Happy flying!
@@Painless360My PC is a bit old now, so I find setting my preview to 1080p in GF is as good if not better than any editor to look over and decide to keep. It means I can use OpenShot instead of something premium that handles H265, I'm pretty sure most used to handle 265 with codecs, it is now the codecs that are premium.
As for the 4K claim...lol, they seem to be upscaled 1080 to me not 2.4 - 4K as advertised as you demonstrated in the vid.
1080P++ maybe...
搞了这么多年一个能打的都没有,裸狗依然是最佳选择 哪怕是Gopro Hero 6
Check out my reviews of the RunCam Thumb Pro and Caddx Peanut. Both are far more useful to fly with.. Happy flying
ºSame as the hawkeye 4k split i have!
Camera industry:
We use *P* for Pixel eg 1080P. Now we need an abbreviation for Frames per second....I know! Lets use *P* 🙈🙈🙈
the p in 1080p doesn't stand for pixels...
If we are being a little pedantic here, P in 1080p stands for 'Progressive'. There are two way to create a frame of video, 'interlaced' (where every other line is drawn) and 'progressive' where the video is drawn starting from the top of the frame and working down, line by line. In theory 1080p resolution offers better picture quality than 1080i and has become the standard in lots of places. Happy flying!
Cheap as the original Thumb.
