    In our pursuit of eco friendly products,it's a shame we have to lose those wonderful filament movie lights. Even Roger Deakins said Led lights will never be on par with them.

      I'm not sure that eco-friendly was a particular design goal, it's just by-product. For instance, CDs use less plastic than vinyl records, but that wasn't really a factor in the development.
      Although I appreciate that there is a certain mood created by tungsten filaments that's not easily replicated (that's also true of vinyl), the other advantages - much greater control of the amount and type of light emitted makes the current generation of COB lights vastly more capable than incandescents.
      Roger Deakins and other aging practitioners and passionate devotees will not be able to resist the tide of a new generation of fixtures, although (again like vinyl) I doubt that they will disappear completely.
