its crazy because im almost certain your video is the only video review on youtube about this light, im tryin to decide to get this or the godox 600 knowled bi
I would love to see something outside with sunlight . Great job
Hello, Thank you for your great work. I have the opportunity of getting this light or the new version 650B, both for a good price (about 500 and 700 euros ). What would you advice? It seems the 650B has a better construction, but it seems it's hard to mount adapters, i have seen in your other video that you have to dismount parts of the softboxes, and it seems it is not compatible with the nanlite fresnel (That i already own). Did you check any fresnel with this light? Would love to hear your thoughts about it. Thank's
Love the channel! I had a question. Iâm looking to buy my first big boy video light during the holidays. Main purpose is for interviews but maybe small projects on the side. Iâm between the Godox M600d 740W Daylight , or the GVM SD600D 600W bi-color . Between both which would you recommend be the better light ?
Thanks. On CCT, which is the main use for either light besides FX and other bells and whistles which none of us use anyway⊠Either one youâre asking provides great results, both their ballasts are also great, both mountable. The M600D will give you more light output as you already know, but itâs also more expensive. Other than that, itâs a tough decision. I have both, I use both, regularly for interviews in large rooms or against a bright window.
Great review. Can you please send a link to the "knob" handles you recommend to replace on this light? Believe it or not I just bought this light and the handle on the yolk arrived broken off!
That knob handle I used on the SD600Bi is not a GVM knob. The brand is âCHIMERAâ. Search their website. Ask the Chimera rep for a replacement for knob for the âChimera Trioletâ, one of the older lights they make. Thatâs where I got that from. Now, just so you know, Chimera knobs are kind of expensive, and this one is also not metal but itâs durable and strong âŠthe knob is fully articulative and adjustable.
Thanks for the quick reply. I recognize that. I just thought maybe you had a link to a ratchet handle you recommended. But it looks like you just pulled from an older light you had available.@@ArtVideoProductions
I had this on my future wishlist until Forza 720B came which is an 800w bi-color light! Few more money and you get an extra 200w which is 25% extra over this.
Hi, well done!
Which one do you choose over another and why please, this one or the Godox M600d?
I used both and they do what I need. To compare between the two to a nitty gritty comparison, I would have to put them side by side which unfortunately I donât have the time during this season.

Great review! I would love to see an update for this light, how does it hold up a year later? does it still work as good?, what is your experience? how does it compare to the new PRO lines of GVM? I hope you get the time to do it sometime.
@@RoloBcrra I have an ARRI Sky panel , itâs a 5 year old panel, still used as the best in the movie industry. As for the GVMSD600D, I still use. These lights are good for many years to come not just a seasonal thing.
I hope that helps.
@@ArtVideoProductions thank you for responding, yes it does help, a lot!.
Shopping between this, an aputure 600x pro, and aputure 600C, can you recommend any fresnel or snute adapters to use with this bowens mount? This light is the most power for the best price but Iâm trying to figure out how I could use gels or what kind of modifiers I could attach beyond just soft boxes
Yes, I agree this light is the best bang for the buck. Since this light has a Bowens mount, of course you may use any other kinds of modifiers including snoots and fresnels. Godox FLS-10 fresnel lens I have and I believe itâs only $199. amzn.to/3Rh8jVR
@@ArtVideoProductions thank you for the recommendation! Iâd love to see a modifier video from you!!
@@ArtVideoProductions also can you make any recommendations to build a setup for gels for this, just placed an order for the 600D to take advantage of the sale at B&H right now!
@@Cironezone my link takes you to the same exact item at BH at no extra cost. I hope you at least clicked on it to check it out đ
@@ArtVideoProductions yes I can follow your link when the store is re-open after the Holliday, but I know many fresnel other Bowen adapters donât all fit well or throw light the same fitting on other brands, example, a Godox fresenel on a GVM light may not fight as intended so it doesnât throw light as intended, have you tried many modifiers on this?
What is the TLCI of the light? Thanks good job
I believe they donât specify. Please check their website, maybe itâs there now.
If you run this light at 200 watts, is it as quiet as the 200 watt lights you mentioned in the scenario of creating a soft panel of light while shooting against a window?
For a 650 watt light, that fan is pretty quiet. But most users who need a 600 watt light ,1,200, and higher power, they are not very concerned about fan noise. These lights are meant large areas and far from the camera. And they need strong airflow.
@@ArtVideoProductions Thanks for the insight on the fan noise, how does the light's claim to be a substitute for 4000 watt light tungsten hold up?
@@VictorGee youâll need to get an actual 4000 watt tungsten light and compare.but the light output on this light, youâre getting your 600 watt. I have a Godox M600D (740 watts) and the GVM compares to the M600D at 89%.
@@ArtVideoProductions hey, do you think the daylight fixture of this is powerful than the m600d? I got 2 Godox m300d and plannning to get the m600d but its just expensive. The GVM 600d says they input 130,000 lux with the reflector on 3'3?
@@Filmsimulation the Godox M600D is a 740 watt unit. The GVM SD600D is 600 watts.
Is it equal to apurture 600d or weaker power output?
The Aputure is daylight only. The GVM SD600D is bicolor, which both warm and cold LEDs are shared, therefore, it is obvious that the SD600D will be less bright. Same would go for the Aputure 600D if it was a bicolor. Hope that helps.
@@ArtVideoProductions yeah i understand...but is any big diference?
@@kristian1541 I would guess is a 1 stop less brightness.
@@ArtVideoProductions đđ
How it it possible that this light has more output than the 650B? A comparison would be nice to have
Itâs the LED diodes type and brand they chose. On both lights they are not the same. A single LED diode can have a higher output than another even running on the same power and voltage.
@@ArtVideoProductions I'm just skeptical, becuase then this light would be a way better choice than the 650B, yet there are no videos about this light and tons on the other one. And GVM has a reputation of not being accurate with their measurements
@@bohdandoval9621 about âaccuracyâ. Most people donât even think of this: The moment you start grading your footage, or to give it one of your film âlooksâ or applying LUTS, even if it were the most accurate light on the planet, you will throw those âaccurateâ numbers out of the window. It will look nothing like the original color rendering.
What a strange design decision... The fan blowing downward?
That is the only LED I've seen doing this.
Blowing up is the usual way to go, since heat naturally goes up...
I wonder how long this head will last, especially shooting outdoors during a heatwave.
As strange as it is, the heat dissipates as good. Itâs just annoying to feet it when adjusting the light. Other than that, no problem whatsoever
Im a big fan of your videos and the time and effort that goes into providing these guides, especially for products by lesser known brands such as GVM. That being said, while this looks like a nice light it is priced in my opinion too high when itâs direct competitors Aputure and Nanlite make a marginally better light for not much more money and you get a brand that is recognizable / can be rented or easily sold down the line. If GVM were to offer this for sub $1k I reckon they would sell a lot more but currently that new Nanlite forza 720b looks a lot more interesting than this.
Thank you very much for enjoying my videos. I try my best. đ
Sometimes I have to mix this light on set with other brands and it performs well. But yes, I agree a few small things need to be improved on this light.
GVM have a sell now for 600 Euro/Dollars, which makes the best price/quality
It's currently $600. Very intriguing
I got that ad on Facebook and it made me check it out, it's such a low price I was wondering if it's a scam đ
@@rickskellig4652 just bought it in Europe for same price, store looked legit. I guess they selling old stock and focusing in 650B Pro as current line up.
I just bought it. I buy all my GVM products when the throw out these random sales. The bogos are the best lol bogo vmounts, C stands, etc lol
@@peterhodges2354 how is it? Honestly, is it worth the extra $ for the 650 pro
@@peterhodges2354 how is it?
It is now at $1100 so a good price for it.
Its 1000 here, this is a very good price compared to a apature 600x
In Brazil?
@@ArtVideoProductions germanyđ
@@castielvargastv7931 I was assuming Brazil because of the âVargasâ in your name đ
$860 a piece nowadays.
They have a decent sell going on for $599 on GVM website for the rest of the month(I think). I just purchased one last week
SD600D is bi-color and SD600S is daylight. That makes no sense.
