thanks for that, i was just about to purchase this light after watching some "good" reviews. I hate dealing with problems after the initial purchase.
Have a deal breaker here?
Thank you for your time, Wes. I have only one question: it does overheat ? I saw a DOD Media video and he was not able to touch it after couple of minutes and after 8 minutes it went off, shut down.
Well that’s weird. No, I left it running at max for 8 hours one day without issue. Many other days I ran it for multiple hours. I suspect he might have gotten one with a busted fan maybe? Link?
You don't comment anything about the noise of the fan or the temperatures reached by the torch and the power adapter. I suspect that having the same measurements and fan as the AMARAN 60X, but 20 W more power, the temperature may be a problem, and consequently the life of the COB LED.
If that tripod holder was removable - I buy one right away :). I love the Amaran because it fits my camera bag with my lenses and cameras.
Well, it’s “removable” if you take out four screws, but not exactly quick release, no 😏
What type of flash trigger do you recommend on this one?
No flash trigger, this is a continuous light
Cool review, not sure why but I think I'd spend the extra $40 for the Amran.
The amran definitely looks like it’s built better. GVM products are generally just for spending as little as possible to get needed performance. I would imagine they’re quite popular in other countries.
@@WesPerry Ha Ha, well I do like spending as little as possible! :P
Do you mean the Amaran 60x? This GVM does seem to be a lot brighter
May I know the brand of that 15ft. power adaptor?
It came with a Sokani X60RGB light. Adapter itself is a generic Shenzen Company branding.
So I can easy run this light from a V-Mount battery
Not That easily. It’s made for NP form factor batteries. But it’s runs on 15V, so odds are a direct DC connection to a v-mount caddy would also power this no problem. I haven’t tried this myself, though.
The way the batteries are mounted makes it seem unwieldy. Is this a Godox product? Have a good weekend and Pats for your Cat!s 😎👍🇨🇦
No, not a godox product 😏
Because the light itself is so light, with the batteries installed it just gets a bit closer to the weight of say a godox sl100
It's a Aputure Amaran 60D/60x cheap copy. Elso there are more well build copy from YongNuo.
@@WesPerry i consider this one and finally got a godox sl100d. did i took the right decision?
