    Thank you for the great review.
    I have 100% the same impression. Just bought it today. And thank you for some extras on the same brand!

  • @smalltalk.productions9977

    thanks for the effort and the sharing. i really rely on your reviews. i am an appreciative subscriber. your thoughts on the SL100D as a lighting instrument for a single talking head mounted in a medium softbox 3 meters away? thumbs up.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  Před 2 lety +2

      3 meters sounds like a long way for a softbox! All depends on how much light you need, so that’s a tough one for me to answer. Ambient lighting, Size of modifier, desired f-stop, iso, shutter speed etc will all change this metric.

    When using the app to turn off my light the fan never turns off, it will run 24/7 until I cut the power with the toggle switch or unplug. Is this normal?

      “Normal” yes… but kindof annoying. It’s not the only Godox light that does this.

    Hello I hope you can help me … I’m starting a 3 HOST podcast and I’m thinking either buying sl100Bi or the La150 … both with the Godox lantern … normally I would go directly for the 150 « more power maybe for other usage » but the fan also is an issue I think more than the sl 100 … is the 100 enough to light 3 people or should I take the la150 … great review and thank you in advance

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  Před rokem

      Depends a lot on what you’re using for a light modifier, how far away the light will be, and what your intended camera settings will be.

      @@WesPerry i was thinking a GODOX CS85D LANTERN
      With the 100 will it be enough ? You reviewed both the sl 100 and the la 150 is the fan really that strong in the 150?
      I keep thinking the sl100 is a better quality maybe … this is a start actually and your reviews are quite helpful I just don’t want to buy the 100 and regret it if it is not enough… or buy the 150 and be stuck with the fan noise or the on n off button break when I could’ve worked with the 100 … sorry if it is too much but these informations are not easy to find especially if you don’t have experience or access to them both … and where I’m from other brands are not available like the amaran … thank you so much

      @@SOUTHSIDEtn I still need to know your camera settings. Such as some people shoot in log format, which often has a base iso of 800, but some people shoot in rec709, at base iso of 100, that makes a huge difference in the amount of light required. Likewise if you're trying to get multiple people in a shot, depending on how it's set up, you might have your aperture at f/5.6 or thereabouts. While others might be shooting more wide open if it's just one person or people are lined up better, or have their own cameras, around f/1.4 to f/2.2, needing much less light.
      I shoot myself at f/1.8, iso 800 (SLOG3), which would normally not need much light, but I also use a Huge gridded Softbox, which chews up all my light, so I'm using all 200W of power or more! Lots of variables at play here!

    Awesome review! Would you recommend this over the Ninja 300?

    • @WesPerry

      That’s a tough one. The ninja has more power, but is quite a bit louder too.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  Před rokem +2

      The 100D is vastly superior to the 100W in terms of light quality. It’s essentially the replacement for it.

    I can't set colour temperature in my godox sl100d....pls help sir

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  Před 2 lety +3

      There is no colour temp adjustment on the 100D. The D is for Daylight.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  Před 2 lety +2

      It is definitely confusing, though, as the screen displays the temp, making it look changeable, and the app allows you to change it, but nothing happens of course.

    The venting is lame. Hot air to expell, you need it venting up and out, and into the modifier only builds up heat. Should be sucking air from bottom and then distribute. At the very least, it lowers the life span of the light. Cap issues are annoying.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  Před 2 lety

      It wasn’t long ago that that was the standard way of doing it. Rather surprised they went back on it. I assume it must have been cheaper in some way, with less heat syncing materials required on the inside of the light? Very odd.

    • @philindeblanc
      @philindeblanc Před 2 lety

      @@WesPerry Why wouldnt you assume it would be profitable to sell another light when the first one goes out ? Upper side vents with a suction in the back is all that is needed. If you want it to be a bit more water proof, just move vents to front bottom. It would still be better than the front of the light, and blowing into it
