    Most of the models shown in this video would not sell well to studios (vfx, archviz, games etc) . They look nice, but the studios are generally looking for more generic stuff, like vehicles from a specific period, furniture and props, famous and not so famous buildings, generic characters and so on. Stuff you can put in the background of your shots to flesh out the world, and not the hero assets. The hero assets will need to be unique and will in most cases be made in-house.

    • @JHA854
      @JHA854 Před 3 lety +21

      I work in Archviz, most of our models come from 3DSky or CGMood. They are cheap and save us tons of time. Unless we needed something very specific, we would rarely spend more than a few dollars on a model. If you want to sell in archviz, make your models small in terms of file size and make them Corona/VRay compatible.

But yeah stocks are really the supplemental income, it's really hard to make a living of them in the West. However, making 300 usd a month is already a monthly salary for many developing countries. This is why you see a lot of Eastern Europeans engaged in selling stocks. And then it takes them 5 years to get to 3000 usd a month with a passive remote income with living expenses kept pretty low.

    You have to create bashkits, depends on a which niche you have chosen. And create some tools also for a 3D redactor you picked or probably interested in a future, probably create a game if you have some logic and mathematics. Nobody needs just random 3D models from a different universes. You have to choose your niche : characters, tech, environment, exterior, interior. It's impossible to be good at everything, but you can create bashkits that will support you in a future. Some peoples trying to create sci-fi things from a start or fantasy things - I recommend to train your skills on a simple / modern things if you can't stylize from a start

    • @JoonJuby
      @JoonJuby Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, but doesn't matter if that is what is in demand. Indie devs would rather use free assets or contract someone to make specific models for them than buy a premade generic soldier for example. The reason why is because time is something indie companies have. Same thing with larger companies it would be easier to just contract a studio to push deadlines. This applies to 2D art as well when it comes to art styles, platforms like instagram and tumblr favor a graphic shading style of pininterest women models with eye catching colors.

Use the time to learn new things all the time. My first year was working 12 hours every day and then used my spare time to learn new things. Today I pull in around 230$ per hour on a avg project when I feel like working as I generate a lot of passive income from my old projects and have the freedom to only take interesting work

      GTX 1660. It has more stable driver and CUDA. If you render on GPU in Blender, CUDA much better than OpenCL on AMD Radeon. Also if you buy one of RTX cards - 2060 or 2070 or 2080, you can use OPTIX in Blender, it very speed up render time.

    I sell 3d models for over 9 years and I can say the market is suprasaturated and is harder and harder to make money. Image 300 products on same car or tank. The buyers will go with the cheapest and most realistic one. On archviz image 500 products with same chair or bed and each one undercut. On game models is harder because each game engine have it's own standards.
    If you image you work for 160 hours a month and get 4000$ better do college and get a job. It's fun to do 3d models but stop dreaming, is full of Indians selling for peanuts.
