I wish as much effort that goes into graphics and animations went into gameplay interactions.. what's the point of a pretty environment if you can't have fun with it?

Props to 'Random Hogsmeade Girl' for playing Hopscotch for 12+ hours. This girl is practicing hard for the world champion's league Hopscotch.

Farily sure she has been cursed to do it mute in front of all those people and because no one tries talking to her they cannot figure out she is trapped in that loop.
Honestly, bugginess aside, I have to give them props for some of the character AI. I once followed fig out of the Map Chamber, and he walked all the way through the school and up to his personal office and started studying his chalkboard. I thought that was pretty amazing.

Right after an early quest cutscene in my second playthrough, I saw Ominis walk by. Started following him to see if there'd be any special interactions. Turns out he took me right to herbology, where we had class together. Then, after herbology, I followed him and Sebastian right to potions, where my next class also was. Was pretty impressed by that, felt like I was actually a student walking to class with my friends. Was just missing some voicelines.

@@snmnmidld6203 I was just surprised to see that the students would actually walk from class to class and you could follow them there, and that they didn't just spawn them in once you decide to start the quest, is what I mean :)
It must be extremely satisfying for devs to see folk appreciate the little nuances of the game and discover Easter Eggs.

A lot of people doesn't seem to know that Hogwarts is hosting the upcoming Hopscotch World Championship. That's why they are all training for 14 hours a day ;).

This game has so much potential to include update in it. To make it more immersive. Like having the possibility to sleep in your bed, see who's are your roommate, interact more with your house members, things like that.
I really hope there's a big immersion update in the future!
I don't think they can change that stuff, they would have to make a new game from scratch.
@@canadianbeef1958 pc version you could probably mod. Changes to a console version might throw it out of spec and cause crashes. But they wouldn't need to code an entirely new game, U4 engine is quite flexible, that's why it's popular for early access games.

The children going home along the train line was a very common practice pre-21stC, it was easy to remember the way home at night in the dark if you were following the tracks. Also, the trains would stop running after a certain hour on local lines and weren’t electronically powered like they are today, so it was perfectly safe!!
The downside was, trains didn't have proper plumbing so the passengers' waste was just dumped straight onto the tracks. So if you were walking alongside them, you had to watch your step!

You learned this in history class? Sounds like something you hear from great grandparents or something or a really good book. Cool method though, but it must have been hard if you didn't have a lamp or lamp post to light a path.
I'm sure there are multiple factors, i.e. number of passes, where you happen to be, etc., but my first trip through Hogsmeade Station at night saw a Wizard trying to sell a Witch a niffler. The niffler escaped, but it was entertaining to watch it unfold.

i saw the same thing when i first came by hogsmeade station. i legit stood there like OMG A NIFFLER I WANT ONE! now i have two one of wich is completely golden and the other golden with some cream patches
This videos and all the other videos being made about this game just goes to show that as a developer you can never predict all the weird things players will do just to see what happens. It's kind of like being a DM for Dungeons and Dragons, no matter how well you lay everything out players will always do the last thing you expect.
Well. You see. That wasn't a real human girl. That was a Hopperscotcherdoodler. A shapeshifting creature that nearly always takes on human forms, but are actually quite harmless other than they constantly get in the way of sidewalks across the wizarding world. It makes displays of dominance through hopscotch, which of course was named after them as that's where the activity was first learned. And as you can see, there is another one across the way. The two will only pause to sleep before resuming an exact schedule of dominance displays each day until one either gives up or fails, in which case it will go on to find a new sidewalk, roadway, or similar to claim as it's own. Fascinating really.
And of course none of this is really in the lore of Harry Potter. I just pulled it out of thin air due to boredom. XD

What I also notice in this game is when it rains and you are out in the open, you can see your coat slowly getting wet by rain drops.
As a kid playing any open world game I would always be so intrested in the NPC's personal lives so seeing the world continue as normal when you're doing nothing always made me so happy haha

If you go to the train station at the right moment during the nights, you can find a dark witch trying to buy forbidden goods by another guy who fails miserably with his selling tactics :D
I was very surprised with the amount of life this game had throughout the world. The castle at night, although peaceful, has an eerie sense to it.

the reason this game doesnt feel as good as a Rockstar game is because Hogwarts Legacy was made with Unreal Engine which comes with huge limitations. the dev team used their own engine for most of their previous games, but i think it was too dated and limited to make an entire open-world game in. i wish they had just updated/build on their old engine instead of deciding to make it with UE, which made the game very bland and uninspired.
the only thing that saved this game was the art/3D department. they did an amazing job with hogwarts!
I followed ominis during the transfig scene with the headmaster. Dude said he was going outside to study but walks around half the school and just sits down on the floor somewhere in the castle.

Let me ask this: was the rule of "no students are allowed to be outside of their dormitories after nightfall" introduced before or after the story of Hogwarts Legacy? 🤔
After a Quest in Hogsmeade with Sebastian you have to go back to your Common Room for the night but after that it's up to you. Even some Quests are only available at night.

Love the game. They surely made the world alive, with something new to see every few seconds, even when standing still. They forgot all about the NPC's though. I have high hopes they will fix this because modders already improved it a bit.

good to see someone with a based take instead of just sucking the devs off; after beating red dead several times no other ai really compares to what rockstar did there; kingdom come deliverance is good for how old it is but nobody knows that game
@@6feet1deep I do and loved KCD. At least NPCs did not spawn next to you there. However, upon release that was a mess, while HL is more than playable at release.

if you feel like your game is trash, just know that this guy, tried to impress a girl with a first year spell.
I can only presume that Lumos guy is from the same country as Natty and is showing off that he learned how to use a wand rather than the spell itself. Honestly, if every wizard in the UK goes to Hogwarts, Lumos itself would never impress anyone.
One of my favorite NPC interactions happen's at Hogmeade station. A dark Wizard/Poacher tries to sell a Dark Witch a 'trained thief niffler' and it escapes the bag he had it in, running around the them before escaping.
If i could do Lumos in real life, I’d be impressed too

There is way to that, u can say on your phone, "Hey Google, Lumos " your flashlight would be on, and then if you say"Hey Google, Nox/ (Knox) it will turn off Flashlight

What's your favorite spell that you would love to use IRL? Its hard for me bc most of them are so cool. but the transfiguration spell would be nice. Yet creepy 🤣
There is clear attention to detail. The npcs are still flawed in many ways, but i like how they tried to create a mostly believable setting to that world with a few blatant exceptions when it comes to the various NPCs. I do like their animations and all the small moments emphasize the magical setting.
You know, the guy impressing the girl with lumos. There must be some witches or wizards who don't make it into Hogwarts, and have to learn magic for themselves and get homeschooled if they can't get to another school.
Maybe he's just self taught and is really please with himself for learning that.
Maybe he's an amateur wand craftsman and managed to make a wand and now demonstrates it.
That girl jumping on one leg for the entire day, must be a freaking athlete with a huge muscles size mismatch between the legs

I find it fascinating and weird that because it's an open world running off algorithms, theoretically, if you sat there long enough, you could predict everything the world will generate from that spot.
Not when the algorithm is set to randomized and have no set pattern

Yup. They have also made it seem like no one is actually there waiting for the train (no one seems to have any luggage too), but have come there for every other reason.
It's almost like Waiting for Godot - he'll never come.
I've seen the train while exploring but I've never seen it at the station while walking around or flying over it

This reminds me of a situation, where either a dark wizard or a poacher (not sure who it was) tried to sell a niffler to a random woman, but the niffler escaped, the guy began to chaotically search for the niffler and the woman just left haha

Still really wish there was a clock somewhere on the character (like a watch?) or on the HUD to display the actual time in game. Would really like to know better whether to loiter around waiting for a demiguise to become active, or should go elsewhere to do some other task for a little while.
You can change the time of day in the map if the demiguise is not active.
This was a really cool video, I never thought to see what happens. We usually just see the few moments as we pass by.

Have you even played this game? Have you taken a look at the paintings? The same copy and paste paintings in parts of the castle where they should not even be. Real sloppy work by the devs.

Love the detail of the game, weather changes, light changes and was watching the clouds in the timelapse
i am impressed with how they made the npc's in game,this world realy feels desently alive,the game even has seasons and events,i flew by a lake the other day and i suddenly notist they where flying kites which werent there before that moment,and it goes from period of snow to spring again.
this game is the first game that impressed me this much as skyrim and fallout did years ago.
I would have loved to travel on the train 🥹 perhaps some day in the future we can. I just want more and more reasons to explore in this game. The Ravenclaw in me has me wanting to explore every nook and cranny of this world. I’ve put 98 hours for a 100% playthrough in my first playthrough and I’m 30 hours in a second playthrough but I wish I could interact with stuff more like sitting on the bench waiting for the train, or exploring more of the merpeople’s cavern like that ambassador quest is pretty intriguing 🧐 like will we see some more of that an underwater exploration kind of deal just thinking of being able to explore the black lake would be cool but this was a fun video. I love seeing this world 🥹

Is the Hogwarts Express train appearances at random each day like the Giant Squid's appearances or exactly on time?
Apparently it spawns once a day either in the morning or in the evening, so it is hard to catch it.

I think modders on PC already working on mods to make the world more alive. Heared one mod as of yet makes it you can interact with fellow students(beside the named quest givers)
Yeah the world is beautiful but somewhat lifeless.
Does other students beside sidekicks even react to hostile wildlife/npcs not encountered that at all.
Also a common complain is that is to few classes to attend. People wanted the Hogwarts student life.
Someone mentioned Rockstar already and their game Bully did that school simulation better.
The best way you can uograd higwarts legay is, to take a school life like persona 5 or fire emblem three houses and put it in the game, also maybe a relationship system like also persona 5 or fire emblen three houses. Then make the game more interacting like skyrim.

@@AlejandroLZuvic This isn’t an indie game. Hogwarts legacy has been 5 years in the making, with development costs over $150 mill (similar figure for RD2). Putting aside the fact it’s part of one of the biggest fantasy franchises and worth $25 billion, on development costs alone the game should be scrutinised and compared to the big dogs like rd2, Witcher etc.

Yes, it is REALLY smart to one legged hopscotch next to a moving train.
What bothers me is that if you ever been to a train station and waiting when train pass by very fast everyone hair dresses/clothes will move to the direction where the train is going, even one time some of my documents paper flew from the wind people helped me gather them lol, but seeing that there's no wind physics whatsoever is very unrealistic and it needs to he added ASAP!!
i think this game will be remembered as "the hated" that later become the "underappreciated classic"

I dont think you really explored much out there.
There's tons of wildlife, students and random strangers exploring the world, (unfortunately can't interact like we could in RDR2) sometimes you can encounter random events like poachers trying to control a troll, poachers being ambushed by centaurs in the forbidden forest, etc.
Said like someone who hasn’t played the game, was wowed by the world, if ur world is empty u might be running the game out of a biscuit tin.
Yeah. It's an Ubisoft style open world game. Can't interact with NPCs and morality choices don't matter.
Even the first gta back in 1997 NPCs reacted to you even though it's because you were killing them. I was hoping for aurors to chase me if I used the dark arts but instead the game doesn't allow you to use them outside of battle. There should be some kind of consequences for being terrible to NPCs but nope, you actually get more money along with the item for finishing the quest.
They couldn't even implement the simple hospital mechanic that GTA has had since the beginning. One of the first things I did was jump off something high to kill myself to see what happened. I was expecting to respawn in the hospital ward of Hogwarts. Nope. Just dead and reload.
This game is basically a cookie cutter open world game with Harry Potter dressing. There could be so much potential like developing relationships with your classmates like the persona games. Physics based magic interaction like breath of the wild, there is so much potential with the magic to solve puzzles that it's so sad the game doesn't have any except at set points. Or a basic morality system like a Bioware game, especially since the game gives you dark arts.
But nope they went the basic Ubisoft cookie cutter open world game
