We use AAR & Logic of English with great success but I love seeing your enthusiasm on finding a curriculum that meets the needs of your kids and homeschool b/c I KNOW what a relief and JOY that is. That is also incredible that your core curriculum is basically free minus the printing costs. 😀

Audio picture narration is super inclusive of them. I don't know another curriculum that does that. Great for kids with visual impairment! 👏

I couldn’t stomach paying for a spiral binding machine so I bought a 3 hole punch and a binder. Lol working good so far. 🤪😄 the fact that it’s free is crazy! I’m planning on using it for supplementing our other curriculum

Love the binder idea. Can get a couple small ones too so it can be visually smaller and easier to carry to a park to work.

I'm so excited to hear this! One of my sons struggled similarly to your son. It was just far too advanced for him, it moved way too quick. So we switched to All About Reading and it has been wonderful. But I also just love TGTB language arts and the concepts it teaches. I am so looking forward to the new level 2 being released soon!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I bounced back and forth between getting the old one or waiting for the new LA. I appreciate your honest thoughts. It made me grateful for purchasing the new LA K for the reasons you mentioned. 😊

Thank you for the update! I actually ended up getting All About Reading for my son after watching your reviews of the old level k. I am really glad I did just because it gave me more confidence in knowing what I was teaching. He never did any formal schoolwork before then and it was my first time homeschooling. It's so great to be able to print out ALL of the things for the curriculum and supplement where needed. I am currently using both the new level k and AAR, with booster cards, books, etc. I love the independent work in the new level k, and my son LOVES doing the match the word/sentence to the picture sections. We are on lesson 46 in level k and lesson 23 in AAR Level 1 after alternating for the last three months. I wasn't sure about continuing with AAR because of the cost but now I'm thinking I may just stick with TGTB. We just finished the booster card 25 and he was able to cold read "snack" in the book Jack no problem. I definitely feel you on the timer thing. My son needs to know that it will end, too! One thing I do love with the old levels are the vintage readers. We have been reading them during our read aloud times. Thanks again for your thorough reviews.

It's nice to see how you did all the DIY printing...I know that it a lot of work, but as a fellow international homeschooler...I also know that the cost of international shipping makes things. Nice to hear about some of the updates and differences!

We are doing LOE so my 4 year old is advanced so we are on level 1 and we are loving the level. I love LOE but I want more of the fun and beauty so I was sooo happy that the lessons are shorter so we can be doing both! I’m also printing it and how you put it together is just beautiful!

Love this! We are starting this year. My oldest placed in K for math and pre-k/k-prep for language arts which he does have a speech delay but he has made big big strides this last 6 months in his speech and I think even though he's starting in a lower level for language arts/writing, I think he will do well. My only thing is going to be the printing.... I don't have a binder or laminator yet but thinking we may need to get them. Even just cheaper starter ones to get us going. I might even try looking second hand.

Ahh! We ordered levels 1 & 2 while they were on sale, but now that you are raving over these so much, I am tempted to get the new levels. 🙈 I won't, but the temptation is definitely there. Haha When you said the amount of time it takes to do math and language arts for 2 children, that was shocking to me. I just assume it will take one hour to go through both subjects for each child. Thanks for another great video! ❤️

Thank you so much for this. I bought the discounted LA1 when the new was coming out and we started that this year but it bombed. Part of that was she forgot a lot of what she learned in another curriculum from last year. The rest was it was just long and intense. We backed off to the K (new one but skipping some lessons to refresh what was forgotten) and she loves it! Based on this video I'm thinking we need to ditch the old version and just get the new one when we are finished review.

We used the old level 2 and loved it but I think the letter tile app would be awesome tho for my 4 year old for levels K - 2!!! I’m glad we are starting level k now so if it takes longer it doesn’t matter even though my daughter wants to learn to read!!! I’m with you as my kids struggle in language arts and are gifted in science and we go onto higher level learning for science so I can see how it could be done in any subject!!! We love the homeschool app!!! I feel like it’s a wise use of screens!!! We supplement with the activities form all about reading and other phonics activities!!!

Thank you for the review. I just finished kindergarten with my youngest daughter. We started out with the old level K and after seeing your video on the subject switched to AAR Level 1 + TGATB handwriting level 1 + Explode the Code 1.
We are 2/3 through AAR 1 as of the end of this school year. Sadly it seems that my daughter is getting tired of AAR. I am torn between trying the old TGATB level K again (which we have at home) and purchasing the new Level K or Level 1. I purchased the levels 1-3 when they were on sale and I hate to waste it.

Thank you for a very comprehensive review, I love TGTB as well and looking forward to do kindergarten level with my son. I remember in some older videos you mentioned about using reading eggs. Do you still use them? Did you like them? My son is doing free trial atm and I'm wondering if I should go forward with that. He really enjoys it, but I don't know if it is of a good value. Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated

We use reading eggs just for fun and my kids love it!! 😄 We got the annual subscription when it was around 50% off and I’d say it’s worth it. Not sure if I would pay full price for it. I’d highly recommend it anyway!

I wish I would have waited on this. I disliked level K and we did AAR level 1. We went with AAR 2 for this upcoming year but may need to switch. My daughter has picked up reading well and she would often get resistant with the fluency sheets because they bored her.
