In this episode, we hook up a 5th wheel for the first time. Although we found it to be even more streamlined than a travel trailer, the size and weight of the F450 tow vehicle combined with the toy hauler makes it nerve-wracking. In other words, there are new sounds and methods to get used to - and exactly why we wanted to change rigs. After 161 episodes and over 200 videos focusing on travel trailers, it was time to learn (and share) something new. While we still have both boys with us, now was the time for a 5th wheel toy hauler. We don't know what's next. We don't even know if this plan is sustainable, but there is only one way to find out.

Found you by accident. Wow what a great family! Dude you are so blessed to have that beautiful hard working wife and any man that can back up an apartment building that well is truly a keeper.
I put all my kids' measurements on a length of wood trim. It moves when I do. Now, my grandkids' measurements are on the back of the same wood trim! My youngest kids are 21 and the oldest is 32. . . so that is how long I've been doing this! My kids and grandkids love looking at it after all these years. What memories!
When it's time for the next generation, flip it end for end and start again. 👍😉
Sheila Sieber great idea. We also use a 1x4 painted like a ruler and it gets attached to the wall so we can take it with us.
We left on vacation Saturday, which was a driving day as was today. The whole time I was driving I was anxiously awaiting this video to see the new rig - wow, not messing around! Beautiful truck & TH!

My Lord the new rig is beautiful. One nugget of information that you may already know comes from my 30 yrs driving semi trucks. ALWAYS check your 5th wheel every time you are all away from the rig any length of time. There are some really mean people that will unhook you just to watch it come off. Love your videos. God bless.
You're not the first to say this. It's unreal that this exisits.
I’ve seen a few trailers on the tires or ground due to some sad peeps. With a semi I always set the trailer brakes, pull against the trailer then set the tractor brakes. Nobody is pulling the fifth wheel release.
Keep Your Daydream put note on your dash to check the fifth wheel connection and write the height of the tallest part of your trailer.

I drive truck for a living here in Canada and I totally agree as even up here we are not safe from idiots. There needs to be a new design on fifth wheels where it can be locked from inside the rig and no way to unlock from the outside.

We are buying an RV very soon. Had RVed years ago when I raced with NHRA. Enjoyed it back then, even with all the towing and really only staying at the tracks for the most part.
Loved the short part at the end with the Grandpa and Grand Son. We have our first Grand Baby on the way. We really look forward to taking our Grandchildren as well!!!

When we sold our old rig my wife had to go in the house before the new owner pulled out of the driveway. We had many fond memories of our travels in the old rig and she felt like it was a little overwhelming to watch the rig leave for the last time.
I felt that way as I watched my nephews taking my husband’s boat away. He had passed away a couple of months before . Many happy times he had water skiing with his boat .

I’ve got the baby one of the momentum in the same color and love it, with a 17’ 450 in the magnetic grey like your old truck and yes air horns are a must on a 450 I’ve got them and love it! Great video good luck with your new rig, chad and Tara with changing lanes also have a momentum and really good up grades and content on campers check it out.
That is one big rig! I will say the turning radius on the 450 is impressive. Great and informative content as always : ).
Love your rig. Congrats! Been watching you for a long time and finally subscribed. We've had several trailers and 5th wheels as our boys grew up. I loved our 5th wheel the best. Boys are grown and we just retired so we are starting our travel plans. Now we have a 24 ft trailer but living in it is small. Looking to upgrade and doing research again. Congrats again. Instead of hitting “retract all” before hitching, hit the “hitch heights button. The back 4 jacks will retract and the front two will raise to the last height of your truck. After you are hitched, then use the “retract all” button to pick up the front jacks. The guys that do the walk throughs don’t really have a clue how these rv’s work. I bought a similar Momentum toy hauler from an Rv dealer in a different state and was given the same incorrect information about operating the jack system

We've been using TruckMap. That's the one we like best so far.
I've had a popup, then different sizes of TT and now a 5er. I love the 5er. To me it's easier to hookup. My hubby usually doesn't go with us, so my sister have to do all the setup and take down. Life has been better since we switched. I hope you guys love yours and Congrats.

I agree...make them give you products to demonstrate, and deal codes and scan box so you can get a commission for purchasers...and titles to rigs so u can sell them when finished...I bought my grand design momentum 399TH and got hooked on your channel all in same episode. Was looking at the momentum and keystone fusion but after seeing your organizational episode and walk through I was sold....extra bonus has been staying on to your channel and subscribing and starting back at the first episodes and working forward...God y'all were young then and the kids were twirps....what 6 years will do....crazy huh

Congratulations! Y'all are one of the main families giving me encouragement to pursue full-time RV. I live in Lima, Peru but return in three years to Florida. I'm starting small with a Jeep and a Tear Drop of some sorts then will also work my way up. Thanks you so much for your inspiration.
As a former trucker the "S" turn technique is a good one that I'm glad you've learned. My rule of thumb was when the driver door hit my back in spot I steer out then when my trailer axles hit the back in spot I steer back ,but obviously that's dependent on the space you have. I'm sure other people have their own methods.

Could also do the modified 45° set up to back. Easier to do then an ally back (90°).

will stop a lot of grinding on sharp turns
It was on there. The noises were coming from the suspension. Even Grand Ginger made those noises with the MORryde upgrade. I think its the U bolts turning.
You will want to find one made of Delrin (POM) Plastic. It is very abrasion resistant and self lubricants so no grease needed. Works great in this type of application.
Have used a lot of it over the years. A lot easier to machine and work with than UHMW and the like. The self lubrication is very important.
OHHHH CONGRATULATIONS ON "TOY GINGER" ~ love the name !! Oh yes Marc it SO IS like moving an apartment lol!!! We just sold our 44 foot "apartment on wheels" downsized to the Solitude 310GK, we found too many places we wanted to go but just either couldn't fit in or tired of paying the "oversized rig" prices. I am REALLY REALLY excited to see where you travel too! :)
