The beauty of Dorohedoro is that it takes its time with its world-building. Case in point: the very first panels of the manga drop you right into a violent and wacky action scene without any context, and yet somehow all the pieces fall into place within the first chapter to convey to the reader the premise of its world and story beat. This is a testament to the quality of storyboarding given how much fucking weirdness is thrown at the beginning. This is also why the amnesiac hero trope and the shifting narrative perspective flow so well, because world-building is shown and contextualized through each character's actions, and in very casual fashion. Dorohedoro also offers so much dark humor, in spite of the gore and grim-like quality of its world. I wished that the anime adaptation had incorporated the grimness characteristic of the original artwork; MAPPA is certainly a competent studio but their style is too clean to the detriment of the artwork's "personality"/sense of style. Like you said in your intro, there is so much that manga offers in terms of range, style, and themes, and stuff like Dorohedoro remind me why I love this medium so much.

I had that problem in Italy too, with 13 volumes OOS. Luckly, maybe thanks for the anime, Planet Manga, a italian publisher, started to restock all the volumes :D
I was just about to type this. I've only seen the anime and the whole premise and execution was just soooo unique. The character development of Phos was so amazing. Tried getting into the manga but the art style is sooo offputting. Hope for season 2...
