- Paddy Galloway is the most sought-after CZcams strategist in the world.
He’s worked with clients like MrBeast, Jesser, Ryan Trahan, and Noah Kagan. All in all, his clients generate 750 Million views PER MONTH.
And that’s because Paddy puts most of his focus where other people don’t: pre-production.
So in this episode, you'll learn:
• What makes a great video idea
• How to develop great titles and thumbnails
• Why it’s better to take a few BIG swings rather than a lot of small swings
• And why YOU should be spending more time in pre-production

I did spread the word and found out it consists of four distinct letters: W, O, R and D
😊😊😊
I like your content, but I couldn't read the list "Today you will learn" (I paused the video to write this), the color leaking, the contrast with grading blue, it's 1AM and I can't read it. I hope this comment helps anyway, getting back to the video.
Just found you! Great channel!
Man I wish to find a small group of people that want to be in a group together and help each other. I focus on positive commentary. I know a lot of analytics. Been studying CZcams for 2 years non stop. The only thing stopping me as crazy as this sounds is fear. Fear that my channel will succeed, but I just didn’t use the right niche. I know sounds crazy but this is where having a group of likeminded content creators can create strategies, talk, and help each other.
For baby CZcamsrs, the worst nightmare is waking up to "NO" change in subscribers and views. It's painful when your efforts go unnoticed. But remember, faith in yourself and your work leads to the right path. Success will come.
one day at a time
Hey man you drawings are actually amazing. I suggest
1. talking over the Timelapse ,
2.or maybe even putting a viral clip at the bottom and your drawing at the top.
3. Or maybe show and explain different parts of your drawing process
Or maybe even search Timelapse drawings shorts, and check out what’s currently going viral.
Your drawings are literally so perfect, I think if you change the format of your videos. You will grab attention and people will appreciate your amazing work and skills!!!
@@Mr.samneo Thank you so much for taking out the time to write such a thoughtful comment. I appreciate your suggestions, they are indeed quite useful.
I’m gonna be real with you. What you give is what you get. Not how hard you work. Put your audience first. Are you making videos for you or for your audience? The trademark would be finding a way to do both. Advice I can give is right now your art is cool but the music in most of them are hard to sit through. Also the thumbnails could be better.
If u have no view count in weeks change the niche, or upload same vidoe with different approach,
Do hardwork it will happen one day.
It's refreshing that he actually acknowledged that not everyone wants a bro screaming at them. I've not seen any other of the top youtube gurus acknowledge that. Very thoughtful guy with a huge wealth of information. Thanks for your channel, Jay! It's great.
Dude is the behind the scenes legend of CZcams
Yessir!
Awesome interview Jay, Paddy is a wealth of information!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great questions and way to let Paddy get his full thoughts out. Really well done here.
Paddy is the man! The way he broke down his system is eye-opening for me. My pre-production has been non-existent. Time to flip my process on it's head and do it the right way. Thanks for a great interview!
Really enjoyed this interview! Paddy knows his stuff and I've learned a lot from him in a short time already. Great job Jay!
Its true spend more time on Specific ideas..
Great conversation, Jay and Paddy! Loved Paddy's thumbnail comments on action (entertainment channels) vs curiosity loops (talking head channels) angles. As an a content creator in the latter category, I can see the appeal of entertainment channels' thumbnails but struggle if and how to replicate it.
Also appreciate Paddy's comments on growing more while publishing less by being more tactful, with Noah Kagan's channel example. Food for thought!
Bro thank you so much for interviewing him just subscribed there is so much gold in this video. Appreciate it.
As someone who was in Paddy's cohort, he is a legend.
Agreed!
What cohort was that? (What school/course)
We definitely need another video featuring Paddy Galloway. Ideally, it should include various questions on different topics.
Great interview. I really loved your questions and got a lot out of it!
Heard a lot of interviews with Paddy so far and this is one of the most insightful! Well done with the questions!
That means a lot!
I’ve had the pleasure working with Paddy. He’s the best. A true expert at all things CZcams
As a beginner and learner of CZcams, I really found your videos (interviews) very useful. Thanks for the hard work, and keep going! So, I subscribed to ensure that I don't miss anything. 😅
Loving your interviews. Keep it up
very nice of paddy to give you his time- and thank you for creating such a great video.
Just finished watching, great interview! Thank you in particular for never interrupting the guest. (It's so infuriating when hosts do that...) Definitely gonna peruse your back catalogue!
Glad you enjoyed it!
These interviews are getting so good I feel like we should be paying you to watch them 😂 another certified Jay Clouse banger!
This is one of my favorites so far. Maybe THE favorite. Glad you enjoyed it too!
I agree
Thank you for the podcast, amazing content
Jay you are such a good interviewer!! Loving your channel 💕
This is honestly the #1 resource for someone wanting to grow on CZcams. You literally get the key ideas from the top CZcams expert for free. I feel like I should have paid £1000 for this video
Listened to this entire interview on a plane, incredible insights.
dude! Thanks for setting up this interview!
This is a great interview. I learnt a lot. I'm a Programming Educator, always find it hard to take generic CZcams advice but it's always great to hear from people who work on big bets!
As a future CZcamsr who hasn’t even uploaded his first CZcams hearing him talk is fantastic!
Neat to hear Paddy's perspective, and the editing really helped the ideas shine, great work! Thank you!
Thanks for calling out the editing - we work hard on it!
@@CreatorScienceYT It shows! I love how you tested out his main points into some pithy phrases, then dropped them in over the convo just when we needed. It was like having an excellent note taker on auto-pilot :D
out of all the paddy interviews out there, i benefitted from this the most.
Stoked this
One question I’d like Paddy to answer is how quickly to replace your initial thumbnail with your second sketch because the analytics look suboptimal. Within 1 hour? 2-3? Days?
Great interview, Jay! I get to help youtubers more with this info! Thank you! Though does somebody know when to replace a thumbnail for A/B testing?
This is the first hearing about, Uscreen. Thank you for the info.
We love Uscreen!
Really interesting - seems like there's a slight conflict between the things that are useful as beginners vs as intermediate/expert. For a beginner, I think the advice to get going, just get videos out and make something to learn to be able to make decent content and get some feedback is still fairly valid, though I'm sure ideas and thumbnails will still have an implact. But really it's once you're confident that you are able to execute on your ideas and produce what you plan that spending a lot of time on ideas and pre-production become more important - I think many of us get stuck in an in between phase of churning out marginally improved content that gets quite repetitive, which can feel like a grind for the creator and probably also for the audience!
Really good analysis here Kevin - I agree with you
TRU. people often fail to give good context on why the advice they are giving actually worked for them. Like with thumbnail text, he called it out being good for some and bad for others. took me so long to realize that sometimes you can get good advice at the wrong time
I love everything you teach. Thanks Jay.
Great man this interview give me a whole new perspective of yt thanks
this was really helpful - thanks for putting it together!
I spent 2 hours writing notes about this video. There is so much to learn in this talk. I'm going to use what I learned in future videos.
Thank you Jay!
Glad it was helpful!
You are a really good interviewer bro stay blessed
So much great information in here. Great episode Jay!
Thanks Stephen!
I learned a lot watching this video! Thanks for the content family
Love all this AND am curious how shorts plays into it
This video is near the top of my list for how helpful it is. Thank you! Paddy is a legend.
What else is on your list?
Omg i just found your channel (on my home page) so excited to binge watch ur vids 😅✌🏻

He brought the heat!
Great interview ever.❤
Great value video 🙌
Great stuff Jay
Thanks for watching!
I had an interesting time watching this video. I have more than 3 pages of note-taking. I appreciate you, man. GOD bless you.
Paddy the Legend 🔥
LEGEND
Great interview!
Hi Jay. Thanks as always for a good video. Being neurodivergent, the trend with scene shifts every 5-10 seconds, makes me feel overwhelmed and exhausted. Don't get me wrong, the style of MrBeast is very entertaining and retention wise, they score big. My issue with this kind of video making is, that i feel entertained, but not educated. I am left with a feeling like binge watching series without a conclusion, but good for waisting time. I know they can't all be trainers, but i miss purpose sometimes 🙂
🎉🎉❤ editing really helped the ideas😊
Ideas are truly the most important thing. I wake up day dreaming of my next idea. My thing is just practicing how to package the idea better cause I now don’t believe in dead channels/accounts because I had one on TikTok & CZcams where I hadn’t post in years and when I do did it was receive pretty well for a beginner😅
Took lots of note - great info
So right on
6:00 I feel like we have Paddy to blame for MrBeast's recent huge shift into tired old "proven" video concepts...😅 for someone who claims to be idea-focused, it's depressing to hear his primary idea-related advice be basically "see what's already been done and copy that." I think there's beauty to be found in refusing to take Paddy's advice, at least on this particular point, even if there's money to be found in following it.
Your videos are FIRE, Jay. Great interviews and inspiration with so much to learn. TY.
Wild to hear about those thumbnail variations! Amazing.
Love the concept of buckets too and those categories instead of worrying about linear episodes!
"Think bigger. Plan Longer." - Jay Clouse [Great takeaway]
After watching many videos - this one is just to the point. 👌
I do get the importance of thumbnails and titles to attract attention, interest, and desire to click...
What is your opinion of the first few seconds of content with "hoverplay" now being a thing?
Sick content!!
Wait a minute, Jay.... where the hell had you been this entire time? Thanks for this brilliant interview.
Just popping up to say hello! Lots more where this came from 😬
@@CreatorScienceYT Wohooo!! 🎉
Boom pumped to listen
Let me know what you think!
Most people start the video creation from an idea, but few take time to develop the idea further to maximize it's potential.
Glad to see this video get more attention ❤
Thanks for being an OG viewer!
Yeah, i agree a lot
Great content Jay and Paddy 🤙☘️
thank you!
@@CreatorScienceYT you are welcome, and thank YOU! 🙏
Great interview Jay.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your insight!
Great insights.....Can you make a podcast on how a new channel could grow
Very informational! You should do FILMBOOTH next! I love his channel! And makes it very engagingly for CZcamsrs to learn about CZcams! Also Hillir Smith ❤️
We’ve had Hayden on already! Ed is coming up next 👀
I can’t wait to watch this.
Added to watch later.
Let me know what you think!
@@CreatorScienceYT - will do! Sent you a tweet about your thumbnail and subtitles. I’d love to help give you a boost. 🧏❤️
Super interesting chat! Just to give a first-time viewer's perspective though, I found it quite distracting/uncomfortable that Jay was looking straight into the camera the entire time 😅 I'm more used to the side-on view in these kinds of interviews
This is going to be so helpful for me as I start off! 2 months in!…thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great info!
your video set is so clorful and fels so cosy
Very helpful, thanks for bringing this
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for tips
I need this man
🙏 Paddy
legend!
These are amazing, I'm learning BUCKETS!!
thanks for the content
Really enjoy 💥👍
Bigger swings instead of more swings is a beautiful point!
It’s better to have 1 100k video per month than 10 1k videos
glad it resonated!
I spend like 20-30 hours on the idea, and 4-10 hours on production. I’m on CZcams for 15+ years and typically get 1k views per video in its first week.
There are other things to do in life besides CZcams. Chances of success on this platform is slim to none. Keep pushing if you'd like.
Hey man really love the channel. Super insightful interviews. As a new youtuber, I come here for some knowledge. Not stupid CZcams "gurus" all regurgitating the same talking points every week.
So glad you enjoy it 🙏
Great person , great ideas
great interview!
Thanks for watching!
Nice episode.
Great video and visualizations. Thank you
Also, how do you get this crisp audio? What do you add in your editor?
thank you!
Wow, this validated my new direction so much. Great interview!
Thanks for watching Kyle!
Awesome!
Thank you dear ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was gold
Thanks for watching!
Great podcast!
