IIRC, in recent years there's almost always been at least one new cabinet appointment after a change of government who fairly swiftly manages to disgrace themselves and embarrass their leader by saying or doing something inept - hopefully it will be him, and he's got plenty of 'ability' to do so!

Just like in 1997 - apathy handed over the government. Also just like in 1997, a huge Labour majority by default, even though 'Starlin' got fewer votes this time than Corbyn got in 2019. Also just like in 1997, you couldn't get a fag paper between the two main party leaders, so people just assumed it would be more of the same. Major and Blair eventually proved their commonality when it came to the 2016 referendum. Sunak had no qualms about passing over to Starmer - they are both on the same Davos-dictated WEF-acolyte page.
Not enough people see past the red-blue binary (lack of) choice. Yellow and green are just worse incarnations of the red side. People just shrug and ask what difference it makes - well if you don't vote for change, then obviously you get no change.
At least we have a few voices in parliament now who will ask awkward questions. I look forward to seeing both red and blue squirm. We might even get some of the Westminster elite (on the blue side at least) to stand up and agree with the tone of questioning, even though it would be utter hypocrisy after their failure to behave like proper conservatives for the last 14 years.

I can’t believe it, I am embarrassed that such an ignoramus will be conducting affairs dealing with accomplished diplomats. If this represents the best quality that Labour has to offer in such an important high office, I dread to think what the future of our once great country will be. Hopefully his ineptitude and incompetence will come to the fore early in his tenure as FS, and he will be moved to a job that will reflect his talents.
