Sister ! If you take a cake u want to cut it into 3 or 4 layers . And then do this step . Because this is easy way to make cake . Just do like that .

What's the trick to not damage the cake while stacking tiers ? When I pull out the spatula it pulls cream and some sponge along.

Not a pro, so bare with me but I think you leave the cardboard disk on and it helps in supporting. So each layer has a cake board disk.
The secret is to have a chilled cake...

You are putting some lengthy wooden skewer in to the 3 rd tier and there is base under the cake then how could it be possible to get the skewers in to the cake that much easily ?
