Those sugar flowers look more real than the "fake flowers" you can buy in the store. I thought they were real until she started making them

"The cake has to taste good. It just has to." That statement is so true. It's such a let down when the cake is dry or doesn't have any flavor.
I agree. I would be disappointed if it were dry.
Or when it's completely covered in Fondant....i hate that
@@medici__ Your comment makes me think of the series cake boss, they say it's a cake but all i see is 200 pounds of fondant. It's honestly disgusting. To those who like cake boss, I'm sorry but the cakes made in that series are definitely not cakes.

I can't understand why people can't respect art. The artists put their souls, heart, mind, energy, work, time, money everything in the art. Kudos to all the artists

These cakes gotta cost a fortune. Shit, for all the work she puts into it theyd better cost a fortune.
This cake she's making will cost around 6 grand. Edit: I had a think and I think it's probably 10k. 6 grand seems a little cheap now!
And, I looked at her website, minimum order is $5,000
Most people think that a cake is only make from sugar and flour. But there is so much more that goes into it. She probably uses farm fresh eggs, butter, milk, the highest quality, finely milled flour, etc. The best equipment- special ordered/ custom made cake tins etc. and them she would have high overheads- rents for her business space would not be cheap in a place like NY!

Aunt Nellie used to make wedding cakes I loved the smell
People just love bashing cakes with fondants. But hey, it's pretty and it takes years to master proper fondant techniques.
I detest fondant but I detest more how necessary it is for a good cake.
That doesn't make it taste any better.
I think it's because fondant is so difficult to perfect that people dislike it. Most fondant doesn't taste good cause people don't know how to make it well. I think I have only ever had one cake where the fondant wasn't chewy and that's all I needed to change my perception of it.
Fondant gets bashed by bakers who make it so damn thick its nasty. But for great bakers like herself who make it super thin its probably very enjoyable.
Well if I hate it, I hate it. I genuinely prefer naked cakes.
This just called me unartistic in many different languages.

"They're Big. They're really Big. And I love that they're Big"

You can really see that the consistency of the batter and the texture after it was baked really makes the cake stable, firm and structured.
Well as a pastry chef myself, I understand the struggle of baking a wedding cake from scratch until it becomes reality. A pastry chef should understand the value of making everything perfect from start to finish. Salute for her!
And for those who are commented how dry her cake looks, you should try it yourself so you’ll know how it tastes. Cakes could be deceiving just by looking at it. Same goes to people. You judged too early just by looking at them even before you know ‘em :)
Just saying guys. If you can’t be like her, at least just show some respect.

The Married Southern Peaches smart
People DO eat wedding cake! The problem is the photographer & reception organization.. The open bar, buffet or sit down dinner served by waitstaff The bride & groom's 1st dance, the father-daughter dance, the groom & mother, the bride & father-in-law dance, the father's toast, best man's toast, the maid of honor toast. Everybody dance. Three or four HOURS later, they cut the cake! for 'dessert'! IF cake is dessert, bride & groom should cut the cake 1st so wait staff can finish cutting & plating it so guests can have 'dessert' at their leisure. Most of the time guests are tired, tired of being dressed up, tired of waiting so they LEAVE

I just watched this video and Madison is absolutely one of the most GIFTED and passionate cake artist I have ever seen. Her work is TRULY breathtaking!!!
It's confusing to see all these comments about the cake being dry....you DO realize that's what cake looks like without icing, right? Especially that style of cake. While I don't know what it is it reminds me of banana bread somewhat, which does indeed look dry once it's no longer hot from the oven. It's just how the cake looks, and the crust on the outside isn't burned, it's browned. Cake WILL settle once it's out of the oven, which takes away it's "fresh from the oven" luster and look. The cake is fine, you're all just looking for something to point out.
Anyway, the way the cake looked at the end was GORGEOUS!!! Not over the top, but it catches your eye! The slight off-colouration is a nice touch, not to mentioned the feathered white icing design!
Remember she said she dose the cake days before the wedding i absolutely think that cake is dry
Even if it was dry, they use simple syrup before frosting the cake to give it back some moisture. So it isn't dry, the fondant gives it a productive layer that helps seal in that moisture as well. So it's not the end of the world if it's dry.
@@holliegilbert5737 many fonts taste even worse then a dry cake.
