Can't wait for YT Music.
I just use yt music on my phone and use Bluetooth
Same, I also have just been Bluetoothing it from my phone, but having it inbuilt will be a really welcome addition. 🙌
I must say I agree that the Teslavision park assist is pretty dam good now. The cameras are actually not setup for a traditional 360 view so we are not going to see it in any current models. But it doesn't really matter anyway
Not true, as there are more than enough cameras. The AI has a memory of what it has seen.
Having a 360 camera is heaps better. Making parking a breeze in very tight spots. The front camera helps heaps when there's a drop off the sensor wouldn't pick up
@@jjjxoxoxothe cameras are not located where they need to be for high quality 360
@@Clove_ParmaAgreed. They would need new hardware to make this happen.
I agree Ryan, it is amazing how Tesla adds features to the car overnight for free! I agree that they should add the features you mentioned. I am waiting for the refresh Model Y still 😂
Photographer/videographer here:
The layout of Tesla's cameras (not just the lack of bumper) makes it unlikely they could do a good 360° camera. The B pillar camera could help solve things, but it might not be a wide enough angle.
BYD people always ask for Sentry mode in the Facebook groups, and similarly, that feature is unlikely available because of the BYD's camera layout, even though they have a brilliant 360° setup.
Useful and concise. Thank you
Features Tesla should add:
1. Everything you said
2. Better Auto Wipers (The spring update brought a big improvement of the auto wipers even in light drizzle, but still room for improvement).
3. SoC at destination is a feature almost every other automaker already has. I love to set up with how much SoC I am arriving at the charging station or the destination
4. Better traffic jam recognition like BMW has for example. Right now it will just drive you into every traffic jam while BMW's navigation would void the traffic jams.
5. App Store for Apps like waze and so on
SoC on arrival is already very good in Tesla? Unless I'm not understanding you correctly. App Store would be amazing !
@@RyanCowan SoC at destination should be a setting where I can say I want to arrive with 10% or 15%
100% agree. A planner including a setting for how much charge at arrival or at a station is a must have nowadays, almost all other manufacturers have it, and also ABRP and chargemap. I don't understand why it's still not here.
Still waiting for
return of the Turn Signal Stalk
FSD that actually works: Self Driving, not supervised
decent paint quality
decent fit-and-finish
Been waiting 4 years for avoid potholes on AP. - Tesla’s Autopilot, which the automaker is trying to turn into a self-driving system, is going to detect potholes and make mini-maps to remember them, according to a new comment from CEO Elon Musk 2020
Great video! 🇸🇪
One other thing I've found is my Model 3 does pre- condition for third party DC fast chargers. Has worked on Evie and Chargefox but not NRMA. Mind you most of the NRMA chargers are 50kw.
the cars on the road today from the teardowns they dont have the hardware for home charging Munro live has a video on this called "Telsa Cybertrunck Power Converter capable of 800v" talks about the PCS2 its why the Cybertrunk can do it.
Wish it had more physical controls, back seat controls, ventilated seats, no glass moon roof option, auto frunk, real ride quality, more range(MYP22 250mile real world range is too low), Sensors that worked, green light indicator that worked, drive would engage quicker when starting, wireless charging, solar panel, performance model had other wheel options.
Hey Ryan I noticed in my 2021 M3LR that it now responds to the LED digital signs.
I love Park Assist. Wish I could buy that upgrade alone. Maybe Park Assist alone could be added for $2000 per car.
We are still waiting for refresh model y
Well presented video Ryan. Here in Melbourne, I had my M3 highland from February this year. All good, except for the fact that it has a blind spot area which cannot detect any objects in front of the front bumper. When parking nose-in, current High Fidelity Park Assist indicate to "STOP" way earlier than it should and leave a gap lot more than you need. Same issue when you drive into the garage, to park against the rear wall. This problem can be resolved by 360 view or visualization of surrounding, as they do it in reversing. It's been a long wait for this to be resolved in a software update. Hope they will address this issue very soon.
Good feedback 🙌 Thanks for the comment and congrats on the new Model 3 !
Great summary!! Agree with all of it... re V2H @9:40 , previously on Model3, the hardware was not present for bi-directional charging...
so, not possible as software update... but, after the feature on CyberTruck, who knows, maybe they silently updated the Model 3/Y hardware, also? Doubtful as that would take away PowerWall sales, but agree would be very useful for folks who just want emergency power in a pinch, but don't need entire powerwall investment..
My M3 does pre condition when I choose a non Tesla fast charger Ryan? It is only one Chargefox fast charger (well, 125kilowatts) that shows up on my screen here in SA but definitely does start pre conditioning if I chose that destination.
I've owned a Model Y for about 11 months and it's been great. These are the areas that I would like Tesla to improve:
1. Phantom braking - My car phantom brakes at the same exact spots when driving on AP on certain routes. This is a bigger issue when driving on unknown routes and the car suddenly decides to phantom brake randomly and it can be quite a shock.
2. Maps/directions - The maps on the Tesla is actually pretty average compared to Waze. The navigation instructions can be quite bad, for example: asking me to take exit 35 when that exit doesn't exist, asking me to take the slip lane when what it really means is that I should go straight, showing me a 5 lane road when there are only 3 lanes, max speed showing as 40 in a 100 zone
3. Autopilot - Even after owning the car for nearly 1 year, I still haven't figured out when the car will accelerate/decelerate automatically when driving on AP. Is it based on roads, routes, speed? No idea.
Brilliant video as usual. Agree with you on everything =)
Thank you !
Thanks Ryan for another great video - I also wanted to call out traffic light control - Teslas still know nothing about red and green arrows - it gets confused as to whether a light is red or green because it has no concept of, for example, a green arrow next to a red light.
Excellent point ! FSD V12 knows this, but basic AP doesn't. Be good to have this on all teslas.
Would want auto lane change included in AP without having to buy FSD. (or separate it out as a $1k option)
Good video mate. We drove a BYD with the “top view” camera was ok
Thanks mate. Yeah, which BYD did you drive? Did you like the car overall? I personally liked the Atto but not the Seal so much.
My wife and I want to see an auto park update to support nose first instead of just backing in. We have an interior mobility scooter lift from AutoChair UK installed in our Model Y, so backing in makes it impossible to use. Rear cross traffic alert would be an excellent update for backing out of our garage. Our previous car had this feature. Currently, without an alert chime, the Model Y requires extremely slow and careful backing up to avoid a fast moving bicycles or cars going by, or pedestrians on the sidewalk beside us. The current camera views are not sufficient.
Parallel parking at the side of the street works quite well, although it doesn’t leave quite enough room at the back to open the hatch to unload the scooter.
Good feedback, let's hope Tesla can make these changes. Thanks for the comment
I prefer vision to 360 cameras by far now, its extremely accurate.
Agree !
Personally, i think the windscreen wipers got better, than worse again on my model y.
I’d like to get the same bloody interior updates as the Chinese and American Model Y gets
Summon feature!!
Does CT have V2H that’s pretty good, I thought it was V2L. V2H or V2G with almost skip the majority of homes buying home batteries. I predict this will become a mainstream feature of EVs soon but would expect new hardware requirement rather than a software upgrade.
I work on the road, would be amazing to be able to connect a Bluetooth keyboard for the browser
Noticed that FSD doesn't recognize turning arrows. Green arrow traffic lights.
Hey Ryan, I’m still learning, haven’t ordered my MY just yet so go easy on me 😁
So your car is a RWD optioned with the 20”Induction wheels is that right ?
Cheers
Jason
Hey mate, yes that's correct ! Feel free to message me on insta if you have any questions
@@RyanCowan thanks Ryan. I do have a quick question but it appears that I can’t message you on Insta unless you are following myself
Cries in Intel Atom …
My model 3 HL does pre condition when navigating to a listed 3rd party charger.
Interesting !! I still can't get my Model Y to do this in Vic. So it comes up with the same banner as when you're navigating to a SC?
I'd still like to have summon and smart-summon (in europe) for which i paid couple of thousands extra. The only info i got was: coming soon
V2H is a hardware limitation to a degree. Unless you have a DC Charger like the Sigenstor battery system you won't be able to invert the DC in your battery to AC. Tesla hasn't put that hardware in the car as far as I am aware and it would require a specialist DC charger (or one that can take DC power and invert it into AC 240V or 120V area dependent).
So won't be a software thing unless you have the hardware installed outside of your vehicle to do so.
Power Share on Cybertruck requires specific hardware installation for the home, and the car itself is said to have additional hardware as well. Be very interesting to see how this plays out because it's only a matter of time before all EV's have this.
@@RyanCowan The Cybertruck is just outputting AC to a Wall Connector through an onboard inverter. I think its smarter for people to look at small capacity DC Chargers if they have solar then putting DC to AC inverters on all cars (adding weight, cost and reducing range). Currently you can get a 25kW DC Charger for around $7k AUD (they make a smaller 12.5kW DC charger but can't get the price, that capacity would be more suitable for most). Right now, it's too expensive but give it a few years and they will come down in price but if you have a full Sigenstor battery stack you could charge up to 48kWh at 25kW once a day with enough solar and no DC-AC-DC conversion losses. That will be an option in the future for how people drive EV's and power homes, all in one solar/battery/car power systems.
That will provide a far more efficient charging cycle compared to using an AC charger that has to convert DC (solar) to AC (for the Charger) back to DC (for the car battery). If you use solar for charging its only heat loss in the wires that you use as its DC (solar) to DC (charger) to DC (car battery). And it's more efficient using the car battery to back up the home as the Solar system AC inverter can be larger and heavier than whatever they put on the car.
That is likely the future, and I would get a bidirectional DC Charger installed in a heartbeat if they dropped a software update for V2X for my Model Y RWD that allowed bidirectional DC charging. It's only Tesla preventing it (and they could build the battery usage into their driveline warranty easily if you wanted to use that functionality).
V2H will never be rolled for any current Tesla (except for Cybertruck) , because the all current Tesla in-car battery inverter are not bi-directional , so there is no chance of a software update. Plus wiring it into the household a very complicated task.
The only way around it that I can see is having the inverter external as part of the EVSE. I doubt it will happen though.
The main things stopping us from buying are the unknown resale value of Teslas, plus the high cost of insuring the car. Otherwise we love everything about the car.
Would you consider buying a used model? Some good deals at the moment for buyers. We have our Model Y insured with AAMI for $1240 per annum, with a high excess. Not too bad.
Does the speed sign recognition recognise road work speed change signs?
Yes, if they are not digital
I’ve noticed it sees the “minimum speed” sign on a highway and thinks it’s the speed limit.
They’ve had plenty of time to work on it so I suspect that the automatic wipers and Tesla vision parking are as good as they’re going to get.
Completely disagree !
@@RyanCowan Neither one of us knows for sure. I’m always hoping for improvement.
All good points. I just think even though we loved our teslas you should state some negatives. Example the the tesla vision is good but its also terrible in a sense like if I park near a tree the sensors go crazy but if I almost hit a fence or a car behind the sensors do nothing. Plus the auto wipers are just terrible. Just saying I do love my tesla though.
Thanks but did you watch the video? I feel as though I pointed out heaps of things they could improve ! That being said, I always do like to try to focus on the positive.
Blind spot warning should indicate in the side mirrors as most US cars do. Merging into a US highway is usually a left merge, having to glance to the RIGHT to see the red warning in the camera view on the screen is inconvenient and unsafe. Additionally, the blind spot warning should function without the need for the turn signal activation.
They could add a audible signal blind spot warning that I think would be helpful
They do if you try to move over .. but I guess a chime before you start to move would be good .
If the MY and M3 comes with 22kW AC charging, THAT would put it above the competition. Agree vision parking is better than I expected. Well done, Tesla. That said, TACC and Autopilot seems worse since 2024.20.1 - too sensitive leading to phantom breaking/ slowing down unnecessarily.
Try putting the car into Service mode and see the camera feed from rear camera. There is definitely some clipping (reduction) of the field of view they give you on the screen when reversing. I agree with 360 view, I think I wanted it because other car makes had it, but from what I have seen in practice, they are lacking (weird warping of image, not accurate) so best to just use what we have, and soon rely on AI to park the car for us (new auto park which appears to be based on FSD). Charge on solar is really only great if you have over sized solar system or just use it in summer. I can't really use it in winter. I probably won't buy another Tesla until they give us the V2H feature. I have all the hardware (PowerWall, Gateway, Gen3 Wall Charger) now I just need the car to enable this feature (requires hardware in the AC/DC inverter to make it possible).
That's so interesting about the rear camera, thanks for sharing as I didn't know this. Good insight regarding charge on solar too. And here's to hoping that Tesla will allow hardware to be fitted for V2H in future. Appreciate the comment.
V2H and V2L is not possible under the Model 3 and Model Y hardware. The onboard inverters are one way (in).
I don't count that as a very useful feature. Already have a whole home backup generator for electrical outages.
@_Sensei_8 You can pick up backup generators for as little as a few hundred bucks if you aren't concerned with running every circuit in a home. I went with a 22kw natural gas unit that will run the entire home. A must have in tornado alley.
It's a shame ,it would be an excellent feature.
(There is a fairly credible rumour that it is hardware enabled just requiring a software update)
@@guringai the inverters have been analysed by electrical engineers and they fundamentally do not support V2L/V2G. Nobody has opened up a highland inverter yet but the hardware appears the same as the 2023 and earlier cars.
Odometer needs 1/10th mile increments
I use smart summon every day to get in and out of the garage.
That would be basic summon right? Smart summon needs EAP or FSD and does more than go backwards and forwards
@@tony.baloney we have the FSD options, so smart summon, getting in and out of the garage is essentially just normal summon as its almost straight in and out, but we have used smart summon in local carparks as a party trick mostly and to see if any improvements happen with updates. its a lot better now than it used to be.

New Model 3?
@@RyanCowan MYP
Unlike my 2023 Model 3 my new 2024 Model 3 does pick up all the digital signs now even the very high signs.
Wow ! Interesting !! Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to test this out next time I drive the new 3. Are you in Australia?
@@RyanCowan No I live in NZ
The update has my wipers triggered by streetlights now. So it's a bit of a disaster for the most basic safety feature.
Wow, okay good feedback, lets hope they can fix that soon.
Yes, I just got a MY and am shocked that it doesn't park itself!....
my 2016 Nissan QASHQAI does, and I use it almost every day...... come on (no ongoing cost)
The new auto park in the US looks so good. Hopefully we get it soon.
@RyanCowan maybe but I am shocked it's not there in a 2024 model car..... it's a big reason I keep driving my old car, even tho the MY is "free" to drive.
It is my fault I never thought to ask or look, I just presumed it would be there ( but it looks like even when it is there we will have to pay extra per month to have it)
Charge on solar will never be available for any Tesla owner if they don’t have the powerwall , even if they have a Tesla wall connector charger , this is because powerwall 2 comes with a Gateway , which is a smart router between your solar panels, grid , household and your car. Without the gateway charge on solar won’t work
Its already available by using the ChargeHQ software app
You can precondition your battery from Siri Shortcuts
Not for fast charging though ?
That's only for when you're leaving home, etc. (Schedule Departure) which preconditions the cabin. I think it does heat the battery to a degree (if it's very cold) but not enough for fast DC charging.
@@RyanCowan ah. You are right. That is not for fast charging
Purely my own opinion but Elon may have to make features like Auto park part of the regular free software in order to keep up with competion - particularly now cars like everyday Kia's etc have it as standard. Perhaps keep alot of the more 'elite' features of Enhanced AutoPilot in the FSD package but release things like Auto Park and Smart Summon in the standard operating system.
Agree. Especially basic summon
I wish voice commands worked as well as on Siri. I can never get it to call the correct person when I ask it to. Particularly bad with non-Anglo names.
Yeah, hopefully with Grok that should get better soon
From memory there’s some legislation issues with rolling out FSD in Aus, not yet legal for the car to be making decisions
Possible, but at some point Australia will need to catch up to what's happening in the US
All I want is Waze.
You and many others 😅
I have owned T since 2018 still the phantom braking is not resolved
Kia has V2L and an internal plug which kinda leaned me towards to kia instead of tesla. Once tesla gets V2L, apple carplay perhaps I might change
Have you got your Kia yet? Are you enjoying it?
@@RyanCowan Dec last year I got it everything is good apart from RUC kicked in here in NZ for EV and plug in hybrids! When did AUS RUC ended and how long was it running for
Um the Y needs the model 3 refresh
Don't think there's any need for 360 view, the cameras are not designed for that use, it would require 3 new cameras and is a flawed system due to the warping of images anyhow and there are examples of them hitting a vehicle even though the warped view shows plenty of room. The TeslaVIsion is better and more accurate.
Definitely can't wait for autopark and better auto wipers.
Agree. But still meet people all the time that want that feature lol
360 cam isn’t coming. Elon said this
Did he !? When? 😂 I guess they just focus on Tesla Vision which makes sense.
Hi ❤
I was on TACC recently on open country highway, and came upon thick fog with some slow obscured vehicles in front. I waited as long as possible to see if my Model Y saw this, but had to brake. How can we trust FSD without a Lidar?
Tesla's V12 in the US is easily the best in my opinion, and that's without lidar. So I'm extremely confident in what's to come 🙌
That's why I am buying the Xpeng G6. It has most of what you are asking for and more.
Steam.
I believe it's being removed from Model S / X ?
@@RyanCowan If only Elon could stick to things he says eh. Great video btw, as usual.
I don't care about CarPlay tbh.
Grok in the car would be awesome
Agree
It's an energy/robotaxi/AI/robotics company.......now playing in the already occupied sandpit that others beat Tesla to. Right ?.
I tried the US version of FSD for a free month. I found it more stressful than just driving the car myself. It was like supervising a 16 year old on their first drive.
Was it V12 though?
@@RyanCowan Not sure, it was back in April when I received a free trial month on my '24 Model Y (Austin TX build). Definitely won't be spending the $99/month to try it again. I'd be concerned that FSD wouldn't dodge potholes or other road debris. Thankfully, FSD is the only thing I don't like about my Tesla.
Elon says a lot of things 😀
Normally delivers in time though
@@RyanCowan as long as the stock price goes up i'm happy
X support made it to this list? Seriously??
Yeah, it's been promised multiple times and we're waiting for it. Do you not use X?
@@RyanCowan Huh, didn't realize it's been promised. Now I get why it was on the list. :D I ... sort of use X, it just doesn't seem like one of those critical features that's missing from Tesla, but maybe that's just me. Though I will say it's ironic that Elon's internet baby didn't make it to Tesla vehicles.
Waiting for the juniper mate… not waiting for incremental changes
This video was mostly about software, but yes an updated Model Y would be incredible !!
It’s called Full Screen Autopilot but my atom didn’t get it. Scam
So Tesla are like apple they want their own ecosystem. Andriod auto is far superior.
This guys a Tesla fanboy who paid 20k more than the cars worth, and you can get one with upgrade hardware for way less.. 😂
