If youre looking for "track" performance you shouldnt be looking at hybrids in the first place..anyone buying a hybrid or electric BMW probably has no dignity or self respect. At least it lowers bmw lineup emissions on paper so the actually good cars (petrol 2, 3, 4 and 5 series) are reasonably priced. Superb with 4x4 would surely wipe the floor with the 330e, even the octavia if the hybrid version had a 4x4 version..

Yeah, I've had a SUV (first gen X3) just to try one and sure it was a good car but it always just felt too big, too small on the inside despite being massive, VERY heavy and had worse fuel consumption than a normal E46.
Drove well for an SUV as is expected from a BMW but it felt very compromised.
I also don't understand why people want the extra height, it makes so little difference in reality.

You can see how gently he drives the BMW in the corners which affects the exit speed. They probably did this because they would get a lot of complains comparing an almost 300 hp BMW to a 200 hp Skoda. And either way it isn’t really a test if you drive the first car once and the second car twice. The second run was also dryer and if a proper driver would drive the cars for more than one or two laps I can guarantee the BMW is way faster. I mean faster in the straights, better cornering, doesn’t understeer and 4 wheel drive. This is coming from a G21 330e driver so I know how it handles, especially in the rain, because Sweden.

@@paultasker7788 X drive certainly would have helped it in the wet. I’ve owned enough x drives and Quattros to confirm common sense in that regard but above a certain speed x drive will serve little benefit and becomes a net loss due to weight. That being said it will largely be reversed for a wet launch or slow speed corner exits. Mind you that Skoda hooked up very well from a dig, mainly due to its softer suspension.
Which comes on to my final point. Stiffer suspension does not always translate to a faster car, specially in the rain, and specially if your running the dreaded run flats with no side wall give etc. You always want to run softer in wet than in the dry for increased performance. Naturally much like 4wd there is a drop off. I’m not saying a Range Rover will corner better than a BMW cause it’s softer, naturally there is a balance. I always run my cars in individual mode with comfort suspension, and sport everything else. On Uk roads it’s more compliant, more comfortable and usually just as quick.
