Yeah get evaluated for a CPAP.
I love these kind of videos, learning about the rich history of the NFL and its players is fascinating!
Right
And I love you
Pimp Daddy, I hope your still out there digging the NFL & it's great history
The salary cap is the Thanos of '94
i don't get it.
1990Thunderbolt same
@@iredi2663 There was no salary cap pre 94. In 94 it was 34 million
They agreed on the salary cap in 1992. Teams went into '93 fully aware of what was gonna happen. Some teams handled it better than others (*cough* Oilers*cough*)

Free agency saved Marcus Allen’s career!
As a young football fan, I love these videos! They’re so interesting for young football fans! Thanks so much!
2:28 the saints had deadpool at qb!!
Lol
Rip Wade Wilson
He passed recently
Rip Reggie White
Yeah get evaluated for a CPAP.
Rest In Peace... #92 GOD
Helped elevate my packers to champs and almost going back to back
Marcus Allen
LA Raiders (82-93)
Chiefs (93-98)
10,000 rushing yards and 6,000 rushing yards in his Hall of Fame pro career
4yr-17M for one of the best DEs ever. Nowadays that would have been 4yr-80M
Your comment was from 3 years ago. Aaron Donald just signed an extension that nets him an average of $31.7mill/yr.
What a great time to be an NFL player.Even if you’re a backup you could get a HUGE raise
The Dolphins almost had Drew Brees .. Imagine Brady Vs Brees at least 2 times a year and in the same division and conference .. the AFC would've been a lot different
I agree 100% if drew brees would of joined miami in 2006 instead of new orleans, the pats wouldn't of won all of these division titles. At least half of them anyway.
Jan-Michael Vincent yeah but then we wouldn’t have had Cleo Lemon magic in 2007 soooo...
Jan-Michael Vincent the dolphins would've wasted Bree's career tho him going to New Orleans was a much better decisions
Jan-Michael Vincent wtf does Drew Brees have to do with this video?
Jan-Michael Vincent imagine. Imagine. Imagine if Johnny Manziel and Josh Gordon didn’t have substance abuse problems. Imagine if Sean Taylor didn’t go back home. Imagine if the immaculate reception never happened. Imagine if Marcus Allen started his whole career. Imagine if Bo Jackson was never injured. Nobody cares.
4yr-17m for probably the best DE ever. Damn what a deal back then.
Not really. 17m was real money back then. Now america has more millionairs then sweaden has people.
Land of opportunity amirite?
@@hvkrise8103 Well, you ain't lyin'.
Keep in mind that this is back when a gallon of gas was only a dollar
Still only like 30 mill today
God 1993 was a wild time. Can't even imagine how much the free agency class thought it was wild then. Today, it's arguably just as crazy even now. I am so grateful we have videos like this to remind ourselves of those times.
Whoa the 1992 Raiders had Marcus Allen, Eric Dickerson, Ronnie Lott and Howie Long
@SAVAGE TYCOON I was going to say same thing
The NFL's commitment to continue celebrating it's history, as well as the efforts of the late Ed & Steve Sabol are the reason I'm a fan of the NFL. I love content like this
I lose sleep every night because Im always trying to thank in my mind how did Joe Montana and Marcus Allen not at least go to a Superbowl they were on the exact same Chiefs team crazy
Montana had some life left in him but he wasn't his old self. He was probably the 7th or 8th best quarterback in the league that year.
But But, they were in there late 30s. Not the same playerz when they were in there 20s. Throw in a big playmaking WR or TE or both & you've got a deadly offense.
The fucking Bills... oh I was pissed
@@johnferris9526 Yes, but probably better for his legacy they didn't win that game. Cowboys would have crushed them.
@@johnferris9526 coming from someone who liked Andre Reed and Bruce Smith as much as he liked Emmitt Smith, stop blaming Buffalo! That's so early 90s! How about blaming the rest of the NFL at the time for keeping the Bills from being in the playoffs. In the 1993 season, the Bills beat the Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles and Giants. Those teams beat the Bills like they did in the Super Bowls and the Eagles beat them there's a chance the Bills don't even make the playoffs.
Love learning football history, keep sharing
Cool video man. This is one of my favorites now, THE GOAT VIDEO
My opinion Reggie White is the best Defense of Lineman to ever play the game an he was such a nice guy Christian very respectful
Very informative and I enjoy watching this💯
It’s probably just me but whenever they show a dominating Steelers player it’s always against the bengals like hek
Great Video! I really learned a lot.
This was a good history lesson. If you guys ever do a video on the salary cap you HAVE to mention the machinations that teams like Dallas and San Francisco went through to be "under the cap" when in reality they were way over it.
49ers cheat that why got fined in 97 , so did my Broncos also cheated the salary cap win back to back super bowls.
98 BRONCOS were too
@Harry Engel paying players extra salary under the table so to speak
@Harry Engel yes, essentially part of thier salary was hidden in a sense
Didn't know the saints signed deadpool
AHH yeah thought the same thing!
Rip Wade Wilson
Greatest Defensive Player Ever was in New York his entire career my friend
I grew up an hour south of Green Bay and lucked out that I first started getting understanding football a bit more in 92 when things started turning around for them. Getting Reggie the next year and Sean Jones the year after helped tremendously.
Reggie White signed with the Packers because they made the highest offer. White was also a leader off the field & players looked to him to set the standard for valuing a player. If the 49ers had offered more he would’ve accepted. To this day there’s never been a combination off speed, size & leadership in a great human being like Reggie White.
I miss when football was still football...I cant even watch it anymore...started watching basketball again and that's not even the same...what happened to the sports I loved!...so sad!
You still watching. Don't front
Keep them coming
And to think that Reggie White joined the Packers after having made an eye watering 124 sacks in 121 games for the Eagles... Ridiculous! Mind Boggling! Best pass rusher of all time period! RIP RW92
The Minister Of Defense was a baaaaad man...
Also, Bruce Smith owns the record for most sacks. So that means that he was a badder man...
#Bruuuuuuuce
@Chris Paul
Bruce still holds the record for most sacks, and that record is in no danger of being broken anytime soon...
#Bruuuuuuuce
@Chris Paul
I understand how the averages work, I just remember thinking that Bruce always felt like more of a complete player. From batting passes, eliminating one side of the field in the run game, and of course sacking the QB. At 6'7", 300ish lbs, Bruce Smith was a threat that no game plan could ever eliminate. Reggie White was incredible, don't get me wrong, but Bruce Smith will hold that record for a substantial period of time...and he earned it...
Matt Chew, you are missing the biggest point in terms of the most valid argument for Bruce Smith being better than Reggie White. Bruce Smith played in a 3-4 defense where DEs have alot more responsibility, and less attempts to rush the QB. Reggie played in 4-3 defenses which are literally revolved around putting the DEs in position to get sacks, they are the main pass rushers in a 4-3. The fact Bruce Smith got all those sacks in a defense that doesn't cater to DEs being in a position to rack up sacks, and that places much larger responsibility on them is what I find so damn impressive about Bruce.
@@crx122 Except the Bills adjusted their scheme to allow Bruce Smith to be a one-gapper instead of the traditional two- in the 3-4.
@@crx122 Both are great in there own right. But Reggie would bull rush a double block. I've watched film of him just picking up OL with one hand and moving them out of the way. The dude was faster, stronger, and smarter then Anyone else. Plus, he was the most humble man I've ever met.
The group that gained the most are Offensive Linemen. Their average salaries went up more than any other position.
Kevin Greenes crazy ass still cracks me up. 😂
The first “unrestricted free agency,” known in 1992 as “Plan B free agency,” directly impacted the Eagles when tight end Keith Jackson was deemed an unrestricted free agent and signed with the Miami Dolphins....
It's fun watching teams play actual defense in this video, too.
AMAZING to see so many iconic players (Allen, Dickerson, Lott, Banks) signing with these teams, in most cases I had no idea they even PLAYED for the teams they signed for. Guess that's what happens when you experiment!
Reggie!!! Wish I was alive to see him. Go pack go!
Reggie one handed, with the club as John Madden named it. Still destroying double and tripple teams!
I heard him call that "The Howie". Maybe that's a different move. It involves a 1 armed shove.
@@jonathanhassen6664 Reggie was playing for Green Bay and had a broken hand. He needed it casted and no fingers to use. He only had one hand and using the other forearm. He would have people two and three teaming him and push them out of his way. After seeing that I could not understand why he never had 40 to 50 solo sacks a year. GOAT
Mecklenburg for the hall of fame. Get it done NFL
Imagine a rb playing until he 37 today
Frank Gore is like 50 years old
Frank Gore. You don't have to imagine for too long ;)
It helps when you're sitting out for the Raiderz for years. RBs who are the focus on offense for years don't normally play a long career. Starting RBs take a lot of hits.
Frank gore and he still a goddamn monster idk how he does it that man was designed by god specifically to play running back
"Opting instead for a 4 year $17 million deal with the Packers that was huge money back then." Because nowadays that is just peanuts...
That was a crazy time. Sucks that my 49ers missed out on Reggie, but at least they got Tim McDonald.
Reggie White wouldn't have saved the 49ers from the irresistible freight train that was the Dallas Cowboys and their dominant great wall. Reggie was Erik's bitch.
First year of salary cap would be even more interesting.
Browns getting the biggest FA qb. Something we will never hear again
the beginning of the end of the leagues greatness
🥱🙄
4 years 17 million crazy how years change and money changes
REGGIE WHITE IN SAN FRANCISCO!?!?!?? Jesus christ in heaven, that wouldve that been great!!!!
@Harry Engel facts
He had a good run in Green Bay. Buy he would've collected a couple more rings in SF
@Harry Engel I know he chose the cheese heads over Candlestick pk
You say that but he was almost drafted by the Giants with a prime LT tearing through the league. That is a scary thought.
@Harry Engel They wouldn't of been able to sign all those other guys.
Here we are indeed...
During Marcus Allen's time as an LA Raider they won 4 division titles, made the playoffs 6 times and won a superbowl. He must have hated all that losing in LA.
3:19 you know that play from the Keith Cash diss Buddy Ryan game
Reggie White Defensive End
SBXXXI Champion In 1997 with Green Bay
Kevin Greene Outside Linebacker
Ronnie Lott SS/FS
NY Jets
Yup, I was 9, I remember vividly. Reggie White by far topped the list, followed by Kevin Greene and Marcus Allen imo
As a kid being a huge Steelers fan. I grew my hair out just like Greene's lol. Good times. And I was a linebacker
7:01 lol LT the best ever
Forgot that Rambo played for Billicheat after the Giants! I knew he brought a few former Giants to the Clown show.
Parcells did such a great job keeping Max Lane in on Reggie. *sighs*
He was busy trying to negotiate his contract with Leon Hess
Just a question. Is Hardy Nickerson Parry Nickerson's father?
No but Nickerson has a son named after him that plays for the Bengals.
Yes, that's right, Deadpool played for the Saints
4yr-17million !!! Holy shit, imagine what he would make today...
Still can't believe Thor didn't go for the head.
Weird flex but ok
I'm a Patriots fan, but there's no doubt Lawrence Taylor is the greatest defensive player of all time, not reggie white. Good arguments though for both
"04:13" We got everything we needed with *MODNANA*
Nickerson was also on the NFL 1990's all decade team (2nd Team)
Players salaries increased ×2..Players work ethic decreased ×4.... something doesn't make sense
NFL Throwback your channel rock I luv your video's great work keep up the great work....You are inspiring hope my channel can reach as many people like yours does....
Saying Marcus Allen spent 'miserable years' with the Raiders seems a bit mean considering he won a championship with them.
Rikter14 he was benched for his final seasons there because Al Davis hated his guts and refused to play him. Nobody really knows why, although everyone has their theories
@@TheLocalLt Ah, that makes sense. Thank you.
man those QB sacks on turf make me wince.
Before FA era: Players usually stayed on a team.
FA Era: Emmitt plays for the Cardinals. Andre and Bruce play for the Redskins.
5:04 McDonald running like he is in madden 98
would love to see a defense with Reggie, LT, Lewis, Reed, and Sanders. would be absolutely insane who would score on them?
Wow Steve beurlein when's the last time y'all have heard that name?
He had some absurdly good year in 1999 out of nowhere and was never heard from again. Let the league in passing yards, more than even Kurt Warner.
4 years, $17M........ "Those are rookie numbers!"
And a mike holmgren voicemail
Reggie White. The raeson you should be evaluated for a CPAP. Dont think it cant be you. GOAT.
CPAP?
@@DarkwingDann it helps prevent death caused by sleep apnea. Talk to a Dr that is a sleep specialist.
Imagine what the pats woulda looked like the whole 21st century if they could protect 37 players each year!
Not nearly as good because free agency benefited them more than other teams because 1) BB is better than most at patching in FA and 2) near the end of their dynasty free agents wanted to come to New England for a better chance at a ring.
Nickerson def was under the radar but im a packer fan so I saw a lot of him
You forgot to include Plan A! That was when if a team signed a free agent, the team that signed that FA, had to give his old team, two first round draft picks. The only time that happened was when Washington signed Wilbur Marshall in 88!
Salary cap beginning vid next?
How is Harley Nickerson not in hall of fame 93 best free agency class ever. It made teams onto super bowl conders
3:18 Oh look, a great player who doesn't need to act like a self-absorbed jerk after he scores a TD. I remember those days.
I wonder why the video didn’t mention the Lions as being close to signing Reggie White.
And so began the moronic trend of thinking that someone else's backup quarterback could be your franchise quarterback.
Just because a backup fills in and plays well for 1 or 2 games does not make him starter material.
shermanmi *cough* Nick Foles *cough*
Elvis Grbac. Kevin Kolb. They signed huge contracts to start elsewhere. They never accomplished shit as a starter. No logic there
@@dfladd8383 Exactly.
The season Flag Football started taking over.
Imagine what the Giants would have looked like in 1986 if there was free agency. Would LT have still been with the Giants and if so it probably would have been under the franchise tag.
4 year $17 million...ha ha ha! That is now a one year salary for a first time franchise tag on a DE.
Gary Clark was the man
2:28 wade wilson really look like favre
Reggie White bu far the biggest get of any in free agency
🐐
4 years 17 mil... sheesh, I know that was like 30 years ago but still crazy to think a guy as talented as reggie white only got that
4.25 million per year was 1/8 of the salary cap for '94, it would be like a player making 22 million a year. He would be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. Von Miller only made 19 million.
1993 the final chapter in NFL history first-year unrestricted free agency replace Plan B free agent 1989 to 1992 era that change forever in professional sports history took by storm they were total 28 teams of the National Football League from 1976 through 93 era
1:01 that would probably be a penalty now for diving at the QB's ankles
I feel bad for all the players who played before the free agency era began. So many of them lost millions and were paid little for putting their body through hell.
The browns win a quarterback battle what the hell was the 90s.
I know he gets props but still I think Reggie White is one of the most underrated players ever who here thinks Reggie White is one of the top 15 players in NFL history?
Rip Kevin greene
They should go back to no salary cap
So Deadpool signed with the Saints in ‘93, huh?
That 93 Cardinals team was one of the most snake bit in NFL history. They went 7-9 and could have EASILY won 12 games. They were really talented, outscoring their opponents 326-269 and losing EIGHT GAMES by one score or less. But the Bidwell's overreacted and fired Joe Bugel and brought in that overrated windbag Buddy Ryan.
Damn Reggie White *ALMOST* signed with the 49ers? That means that if White did sign with the 49ers,then the '94 team (one of the best teams of all time) would have been *MUCH* better?
