Druig really surprised me in this flick. He ended up being probably my favorite character, which is odd because he’s the Eternal I like the least in the comics. In the comics he always betraying earth and the Eternals for selfish reasons, where in this movie he rebelled against them to give humans more of a chance. Just another classic example of the MCU changing a character for the better, in my opinion.
Yeah I fully agree, I think he was the most capable of preventing the hurt that the humans went through and he was forced to hold back from saving them so it would've emotionally ruined him more than the others surely. The quote he said to Ajak before he left Babylon was probably my favorite few lines within the whole movie
It's cool that he's also quite strong and agile, with some physical feats to go along with mind control.
I just finished my rewatch of this movie and once they met with him again I instantly thought "yea he's definitely the best one out of the group." Plus his chemistry with Makkari was more of a highlight than Ikaris and Cerci imo.

That succession detail is actually insane. I swear this is one of the few movies that I have so much fun watching over and over again just for the overlooked details.

I viewed the scene of Cersei teaching kids about apex predators as foreshadowing that the eternals are not in fact the guardians of the humanity that they think but, in reality, the worlds biggest predators. Deviants hunted the humans and eternals hunted the deviants but, until the killing of Ajak changed them, the deviants never hunted them. They always went for humans first until the fight where Cersei turns the bus into petals.
I feel like that’s part of why they had the prime deviant call them murderers. They don’t just kill the deviants, they’re responsible for the end of a thousand worlds while the deviants just wanted to live.
Agreed. What a brain-melting wake up call when they realize what they truly are, and what role they serve in the Celestial's grand plans.

It's so complex. Nothing is as simple as it seems, and the lines of good and evil can intersect even family. It's a very great movie with alot of depth and profound themes that spans the ages of the world.
One small thing. That was an obsidian knife that the kid was using. It may look dull but they are essentially strong shards of broken glass. They are always sharp.

That's true. Rock blades, properly made, are sharp and hold an edge well, though in the film, the boy was struggling to cut a fish with it. IT didn't look obsidian to me, but even so, that wasn't accurate. Long before Mesopotamia, humans were taking down mammoths with rock blades on spears. Gold, however, doesn't make a good blade. It was pretty, but it wasn't an improvement to the durability or sharpness of the weapon, at least it shouldn't have been.

Obsidian can be initially much sharper than even a medical scalpel but it it very brittle so they don't last very long therefore they aren't always sharp as you said.

The story about Karun mistaking Kingo for a vampire is actually a nod to the comics. The first time Kingo appears he is - as in the movie - an actor and he is on the set of a movie about a samurai fighting vampires.
I appreciate your genuine attempt to pronounce words from different cultures and not prefacing before the word that you're going to butcher it. You don't "other" it but you also are so conscious of your own knowledge or lack thereof. You're easily my favorite youtuber.
Just imagining how HUGE the celestial s are genuinely makes me feel uneasy and scared, they did a great job of portraying their size in the movie

the wormhole animation for Arishem was amazing! I rewatched it 3 times in a row just for how well designed it is
In the scene where Ikaris breaks Phastos's table. He also shoots the door with his eye beams, but it's stopped. This is kind of a foreshadow to Phastos having tech to retrain Ikaris and that he never trusted him like Athena, as he sorta proclaimed in the final battle.

I waited Until Disney released it on Disney+, I absolutely loved it. But feel like they should’ve done a pt 1 and 2 to fully Understand the Celestials/Eternals/ Deviants Story line.
I think they should have done a series first, developing each character individually. Then take out the past scenes of the movie and have it as a big countdown to the emergence. I think if they'd done that, then the family rift really hits home

@@auntiejenjen886 I even heard that the writers are planning for a series to explore each Eternal. That would be great. The writers said it in a podcast and what they said also reach articles and stuff. If they will really pursue on doing that, then things will probably be better.
I. Loved.This. Movie. The story was so cool, the stakes were high, I liked all the characters, especially Sersi, Druig and Phastos. The final transmutation of the celestial was amazing. The movie to me feels just enough like a Marvel movie with the subtle Easter eggs peppered out throughout to make it feel connected but not enough that everything that came before overshadows this story. Plus the things that this movie sets up like the Black Knight, Blade and even Eros. Definitely give it a watch!

There were absolutely no stakes. Was the world gonna end? Of course not! Are the stakes the lives of the character? The story was so poorly written that I didn’t care about the characters at the end. I couldn’t even understand why hey did what they did, what motivates them, what regrets they have, why they act the way they do, what strengths and weaknesses they have… and some of the characters didn’t even have a proper moral argument to back up their decisions for which side to take. Honestly the worst marvel movie
Furthermore, the story is so poorly told that the story doesn’t even have proper continuity! How can Thanos be an Eternal but born with a Deviant gene if the Eternals are synthetic and not birthed? This movie was utter trash. But yes, it was visually beautiful
Someone pointed out that Arishem’s armor is more destroyed when he last appears to tell them about the judgment. Maybe he had a big battle before hand?!

I think Ikaris didn't cancel the laser eyes on sersi, I think druig stopped him by getting into his head making him remember his time with sersi. When Ikaris was about to use the laser eyes his eyes always turn to orange light but in that scene Ikaris' eyes turned into like a dirty white color like druig.

Something that I haven't seen anyone mention is that Ikaris IS the actual apex predator of Earth. The Deviants were sent to kill Earth's natural predators so mankind could thrive and the Eternals were sent to kill the Deviants - and Ikaris is said many times to be the best fighter of the Eternals, making him the predator that need fear nothing else.
This has got to be the most divine timing lol, I literally just finished my re-watch and thought, I think a lot of ppl have missed things in the Eternals but will realize it once the rest of the Phase 4 happens.
Optimus prime is actually voiced by Peter Cullen most of the time. David Kaye only played one Optimus prime, most of the time he's cast as Megatron.

2. Also, why wouldn't the Eternals be tasked with stopping Thanos if his goal directly interfered with the celestials goal to overpopulate the earth to to the point in which Tiamut could rise?

Odd that, apparently, they viewed the Battle of Tonsberg to not be a human conflict enough that Gilgamesh assisted Odin and the Asgardians despite the Frost Giants launching a direct attack on humans. And yet they weren't allowed to assist against Thanos.
If The Avengers knew about the Emergence and the Celestials, also if Thanos plan was to delay the emergence or prevent it, do you think they would've still gone back in time and reversed the blip?

My cousin also told me it was 'meh' but I thought each idea was so clever and well planned out.
There were nods to history and they involved mythologies and belief systems to fit in perfectly. I feel like more people overlooked the movie because they didn't understand or look into the finer details that made the film unique.

Is it possible that the 10 rings from Shang chi were made by the Eternals? The circular imagery and some of the movements by Phastos during battle suggest such to me
i read somewhere in the comics that it was actually created by an alien race called the Makluans
I think it would be hilarious if it's later revealed that when Thanos snapped away half of all life all vampires were left behind and blade spent those five years dealing with a lot of vampires

Just caught this last night upon my second viewing. When Arishem is showing Cersi the World Forge you can see that the walls of the forge are constructed or comprised of other “Domos” for the other traveling eternals .

The dagger that Sprite pulls out - the one that belongs to Sersi - actually has the name Sersi engraved in it in Japanese.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, but in the scene when Kingo is torn between his movie and rejoining the Eternals, he says we just got BTS to do a cameo and then the scene ends. But with the English close captions turned on, we learn that the song playing in the very next scene-exterior jet in flight- is a BTS song.
I honestly really underestimated Eternals, I’m excited to see these characters in future

The fight scenes in this movie were awesome and the sense of scale added to this universe was perfect, it may have just been a set up movie but it was way better than people let on
Its interesting that in the order of succession (if accurate), all of the thinkers are linked first and in order of their relative combat ability, and the fighters last likewise. (as we also know ajax was the weakest eternal and icaris the strongest).
I'm surprised you didn't touch on, movie time stamp 1:34:45, where they are discussing the danger of putting Tiamut to sleep and it shows Thena leaning on what I assume we are supposed to think is a greek statue of herself (Athena) in nearly the same pose. I tried to confirm that was a statue of Athena but I could not confirm it.
This may be a huge stretch or coincidence, but when I saw the World Forge in this video it reminded me of the TVA city from Loki. I went and compared pictures of that with the scene here and it seems to me like there is a structural similarity with the slender spire supporting a large round building, and the narrow tendril-like pathways outside. Though, I guess both also kinda look like the Jetsons architecture, so maybe it is a coincidence. But it'd be cool to think that Kang modeled his city off Celestial architecture, or that an Eternal helped him build it.
They’re both probably located in a pocket dimension outside of time and space.

"Are you not a fan?" seems a little harsh, but no, I didn't get to buy a lot of comics growing up. I was limited to reading whatever the supermarket down the street had that wasn't sealed in plastic, and I'd just read them in the store. That doesn't mean I'm not a fan, just that I'm not well versed in lore or minutiae.
First mcu film I missed in theaters and I wish I didn't. Regardless I personally liked this film more than a lot of other people and reviews did. What I liked the most was that it truly felt original and out of the norm for the mcu. I also really really hope that the mcu starts to use less green screen going forward. Filming on location helps the suspension of disbelief so much.

Honestly looks like a really cool movie, I don’t understand why I’ve heard it wasn’t good, there’s just too much lore tbh without even watching it or knowing damn near enough about celestials just seems like you could make 100 movies about em

Sirsi as the general lead was very weak, and more of a reactive character than proactive. But the effects, and insights into the Marvel universe as a whole made for a good watch.

The hand gesture Dane makes at 6:21 is exactly the same as Arishem in 1:23, Dane is talking about the seed of perfection and Arishem plants a seed-like sphere in Ajak's chest.

I want to make it very clear that I 100% disagree with the critics. I thought Eternals was excellent! I loved it. One of my favorite MCU films. The story, the action, the history, the cast and crew, the humor, the diversity and Harry Styles as Eros, yes! Loved it.

The director said him flying into the sun is supposed to communicate that he’s definitely dead. But I agree with above, and since they are just “fancy robots,” his memories can just be put in another one. Or just starting another one and putting memories in the world forge like they’ve apparently done for millions of years.

Honestly I think this is the best stand alone movie in the MCU! Infinity war/endgame were obviously giants but would be nothing without the other films. Eternals works on so many levels all by itself, truly thankful for Chloe zhoa’s take on the MCU!

Something else I noticed at 9:45, in Sprites projection of the battle, it looks like the Eternals are depicted in the same style as in the comics
I honestly think that eternals should have been a series to give more time to each character, while Fatws should have been a film

I dont get what people didn't like about this movie. I thought it was pretty easy to understand and was fun
The over arcing story wasn't that clear and is just too 'out there' for most modern film viewers. There isn't really an antagonist, maybe apart from Ikaris who was just being a d@ck. And even he had a point. It's a huge grey area where people coming into blind are used to things being black and white. I really liked it anyway.

I think a key element is misunderstanding not liking something for not understanding it.
From the comments, I start to think that eternals mostly attract smart people with mythology interest. If not, well...

another little thing is that the name 'karun' in hindi means compassion. it's not very common as a name so i believe they chose to name the major human character to really drive home the themes about prioritizing love over purpose for the eternals and that the compassion they feel for humans ultimately overpowers the need to trade lives by letting the human race die for further creation of life.
I love how it seems like sprite and Icarus are the only ones actually trying to hurt the others while the other eternals are just trying to disrupt him
i truly love this movie. watched it 4 times since it's disney+ release. in time, others will realise it's significance.

It's not the best Marvel movie but I'm glad we got to see the Celestials and I think this movie is a great start to a wider story in the Marvel Universe.
I definitely feel like it is only going to get better over time. Once people see all the seeds it planted start to bloom they'll understand.

I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie and missed the whole "is that the ebony blade?" sequence (when they entered the domo and found makkari hoarding a lot of historic relics)

I saw Eternals in theaters 3 times. I have to say I really enjoyed this film. It has really stuck with me.
Since we’re getting Gorr in Thor 4 and Marvel are teasing symbiotes in MCU as well, we could be seeing the Necro Sword soon. Wouldn’t it be kinda weird to introduce two black sentient swords? My guess is they’re being retconned into being one and the same.
Dark superheroes are the best, can’t wait for the midnightsons, and we may even see jon bernthal portraying his punisher role again
I was looking on disney+ and they have hawkeye set after eternals so I'm really confused why people are talking more about the statue of liberty getting a shield rather then a giant freaking head and hand emerging from the ocean

People tend to talk more about more recent events (weeks against months) which happen to be in full view of big cities and not in the middle of remote oceans...
@@HenryLoenwind I think what people talk about depends more on the scale of what happened, people still talk about ww2, 9/11, 1920s mafia, serial killers and all sorts so I would think that a giant golden alien causing worldwide earthquakes and emerging from inside the planet (not to mention a giant red one showing up in the sky out of nowhere) would be talked about months after.
I wouldn't be surprised if ikiris was saved by the Phoenix force lol.
