- If you beat the game without dying, you get a hidden ring called the Illusory ring of the Conqueror.
Likewise, if you beat the game without using a bonfire, you get a similar ring called the Illusory ring of the Exalted.
Pretty hard stuff. But what if I tell you that you can get BOTH at the SAME TIME?
Thats right. Its time to reinstall Dark Souls 2 and finish what you never even started.
Its time for YOU to do a No Death No Bonfire Run
This is a full guide on obtaining the "hidden" illusory rings in Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin. Details below.
By using the most OP PvE weapon in Dark Souls 2 SotFS, which is the Rapier, you can get BOTH illusory rings(illusory ring of the conqueror, illusory ring of the exalted) at the same time by doing a no death no bonfire run in new game.

After starting the game your first objective is to get a +6 Rapier and the stats to use it(12 dex). After that level up VGR, ADP and END to maximize the chance of survival. Repair powder is key to this run and is the most valuable consumable items until Drangleic Castle(you can buy unlimited RP at Drangleic Castle).

So, I ended up doing the No Death/No Bonfire run on NG+ with my faith character. Keep in mind that I had never attempted either run until that point.
Before starting NG+, I made sure to equip one of the Replenishment miracles, one of the Heal miracles, and Denial. However, because I’m an idiot, I forgot to stock up on Repair Powders and had to constantly switch between Santier’s Spear and some other choice weapons.
Lemme tell you, it was one of the most stressful runs of my life. There were so many times where I would’ve died if I didn’t have Denial active. Walking next to a pit was sweat-inducing. I had to call phantoms whenever I could, just to have someone to distract enemies and tank damage. And on top of it all, I hadn’t gone through NG+ before, so I had no idea what the new enemy placement was.
To this day, I’m still shocked that I made it.

Getting these two rings was the one thing I always wanted to do in this game and never did, but today I decided to finally go for it. I followed your guide and was successful in getting both rings in one run, so thank you ymfah!
The shrine of amana will always disappoint me. Not because of the mages but because after the miracles were nerfed a great lightning spear with a +10 chime did less damage than an unupgraded light crossbow with magic bolts...on a character with high faith

My first 30 attempts at this, the enemies were only using slow attacks. Now they're on full aggro/troll mode where if they have a shield, they'll block for several minutes; if they outnumber me, they beserk. I swear they coded that into the game.
Dunno if you got DMCA'd over the background music and had to mute it after uploading or what, but the audio is completely borked between 15:22 and 18:36.
Just goes dead silent with no warning for over 3 minutes.

The two things i learned 1. Speed runners use rapiers 2. you dont have to go to Japan for Hentai
Stocking up on repair powders is the most important part. You can also do this on a NG+ of any character.

Thanks ymfah! I finally got them. Although I have to say I farmed waaay to many souls for my run in NG+4. I used another route because of that, but your tips were still very helpful. To anyone who tries to attempt this run in NG+, I have some strats I used if you want some tips from me.

If you're on ps4 you could just back up your save in areas you think you may have trouble with and reload the save if you die.

Unironically my guidance throughout the illusory ring run (although I did make some of my changes, such as combining the use of rapier and santier spear, and more exploration and doing some easy minibosses). Amazing content, honestly this is truly a work of an insanely good Dark Souls player. Can't wait for more challenge runs :D

I remember wanting both rings, i did a NG+ no death no bonfire run
Im being totally honest, it wasnt actually all that difficult, what it was was very aggrivating, time consuming, and annoying. Mostly because of the not being able to rest at bonfires thing
normally if you were doing one or the other its easier. Say you were only doing a no bonfire run. Out of spells? Just die. Doesnt count as a bonfire rest and you get all your stuff back. No death run? Sticky situation? Feather out
You can feather out in a no-bonfire and no-death run, but because of the way you have to go about doing it to be efficient, that could drastically set you back, and put you at risk of repeating a tricky situation

Thank you. This was a huge help in completing my own run and I learned a lot. One thing I wish I had known before my run was to let weapons break and fix them at a Blacksmith. I had a long stretch where every viable weapon had very low durability; I almost gave up. I wish this was worth a couple of trophies because I'll never use these rings so it's a shallow victory.
It’s so stupid that the blacksmith can only repair your weapons if they are broken.
Like... Game, I know that you’ve decided to mess up your balancing by having a shitty system where every weapon is made out of glass but it’s okay because the bonfires now repair your equipment for some reason... but come on.

Successful run time was 4h30 of pucker clenching.
Other attempts had varying levels of frustrating mistakes, but getting wombo combo-ed out of a run by Neshandra at 5% of her health was pretty f**king sour.

@@salderin Hmm, I think it was one of her scythe twirlies that hit me (the quick left-right spins she does when you're close to her), then I pulled back to suckle on some lifegems and timed it just right for her to hit me with her beam. Good times
@@olivius007 i suckled on a life gem and got hit by the beam, only to stand up again and lose my i-frames while the same beam kept going lol. She is surprisingly cruel as I've learned from both your comment and also my recent experience
@@salderin Yeah, I don't know why but I was way more stressed about some other bosses than her, in the beginnings of my attempts. Then I learned the hard way she can absolutely still slap your day after you've gotten all the way to her.

Finally did it thanks to your video and a few adjustments I did to my playstyle (I got the Flynn's Ring and Old Leo Ring to get some insane damage).
Got it on my 8th attempt! Luckily only made it past the hour mark on my last two attempts, so I got both rings through the course of one day. Not only is it funny, but the guide actually works

Also in the part where it says cheese the dragonrider, you can actually shoot him with a bow and arrow from just left of the first lever. About a hundred wood arrows and he'll turn toward you and raise his shield that's when you can run past everybody else when you get into the boss room he has no health left him once and he's done

Ludius Core Santiers spear is only good in no bonfire runs, most weapons out damage it cause it has no scaling when in its transformed state.

The be weary of red iron twin blade
problem with red iron is it weighs like four hundred [units], doesn't work so well in halls and has a relatively poor moveset for twinblades (all of its first attacks besides iirc the rolling r1 are just straightsword attacks, so it is sometimes worse than other twinblades and even postnerf santier's for bosses, where you have the window for a twinblade twirl but not a straightsword swing AND a twinblade twirl between their attacks). Some of the benefits of rapiers are that almost nothing resists thrust, nearly as many things are weak to it as strike, they can be used even in tight spaces but have good reach, and they're very fast and all their attacks are low-commitment. Plus the rapier and espada ropera have one of the best parries in the game which is just icing on the cake.
but yeah for sheer power/dps I don't think anything beats red iron.

Some of these people actually attempting the run, meanwhile I'm just playing a normal run through and a hacker appears and gifts me the rings.
you might want to get rid of those and use/download a different save file if they are hacked. a pretty good chance you might get soft banned for using hacked items (i.e. you will be put in a pool with people deemed cheaters, and will only be able to play online with them. for all your saves. on your whole account. yeah... get rid of the shit)
