My previous SL1 guide( • How to be OP and SL1 D... ) was done on the Prepare to Die edition, which had(and still has) an item duplication glitch that can be used to gain infinite amounts of humanity and souls. This glitch was patched in the remaster so I had made some necessary changes to reflect this.
[Weapons]
Instead of the Chaos/Lightning Reinforce Club, this guide uses a Pyromancy Flame and the Giant Blacksmith Hammer. Since humanity is going to be a finite resource having a chaos weapon would be a bad idea. Also farming for material is going to take longer since you cannot dupe homeward bones anymore. This route requires almost no farming(besides poison/blood moss farming, but the drop rate is so high that it will take no time) and requires 0 embers to upgrade.
[Spell setup]
Instead of using Great Fireball, this guide uses Great Combustion. While slightly lacking in damage the GC has twice the usage and half the cast time. I have also incorporated Power Within which I have neglected in my previous guide. With all the possible buff(Dusk Crown, Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, Red Tearstone Ring, and Power Within), you can use Fire Tempest to One-Shot nearly all bosses in Dark Souls, including Kalameet.
[Q&A]
- I'm not really into summoning NPCs on SL1. Is there any other way of killing Qualaag early?
You can get a +5 reinforced club before Qualaag, but it's going to be a waste of precious time and souls. You can also just use the +0 hand axe. It will take a long time but with 10 estus and humanities, it is certainly possible. Use the R2s exclusively as it will do superior damage over the R1s.
- I'm not really into pyromancy, is there any alternative?
You can watch my previous guide and swap the Pyro Flame to the Chaos(or Fire) Reinforced Club. Its definitely going to be harder tho.

Now that i have it I'm focusing on my pyromancy

@@TwatticusMaximus In DS1 Pyromancies and Sorceries were pretty much in the same spell category. Unlike how in DS3 theres a clear Divide between Miracles, Sorcery, and Pyromancy. DS1 had just spells and miracles.

Note that I cut out the summon at the beginning because I didn't want to summon.
Character:
Pyromancer with Master Key
The Playthrough:
Part 1:
-Do Asylum normaly
-Go through New Londo to Darkroot
-Pick up the Weed Shield
-Get all the way to Andre
-Get an upgraded Weapon
-Go down to Blighttown and kill Quelaag
-Ring Bell
-Get to Quelaag’s sister
-Join her Covenant
-Upgrade Pyro Flame as high as you can
-Kill Ceaseless Discharge with Cheese
-Get Pyro Flame to +10
-Find the run-away pyromancer in the Swamp (From the elevator in the swamp area, head towards Quelaag’s Domain. Near one of those Firespiders, you’ll see a pillar island with a corpse. She will appear there if you have a +10 Pyromancy Flame or Higher)
-Buy Great Combustion (and whatever else you want/can)
Part 2:
-Get back to Darkroot
-Kill the Hydra for Dusk Crown Ring
-Refill Spells
-Kill the gold boy behind the Hydra
-Kill the crystal boys and summon the Oolaciel woman
-Get back to where the gold boy was and get the dusk set
-You really wanna wear that headpiece
-Kill Havel and get his bling
-Get up his crib and kill Taurus Demon
-Engange in jolly cooperation
-Get to the Uchidrop wannabe weeb and buy the Residence Key
-Get through the upper part of the undead settlement and pick up the Basement Key
-Get all the through to the Firekeeper Soul
-Don’t forget to unlock the shortcut back to Firelink
-It’s Gargoyle time now except that we kill that Firekeeper killing asshat first
-DO NOT EQUIP THE RING
-Ring bell
-Buy some Homeward Bones from the guy that just appears out of thin air after you ring the bell
-Bone out to Andre’s crib
-Time for lower undead settlement
-Free the guy that has a Xenoblade voice actor
-Bone out and get to Firelink
-Buy the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring from Alvis
Part 3:
-Time for Sen’s funhouse
-Break the wall to big hat boy
-Proceed to save him and the more important 10000 souls
-Get the Gold Serpent Ring (optional)
-Go through Sen’s all the way to the upper bonfire
-Get to the big Iron G and sizzle his bacon
Part 4:
-Anor Londo time!
-Proceed through that shitshow normally up to Solaire
-Get Havel’s drip that he stores in the hidden room and also kill the mimic that drops the occult club
-Parkour to skip mucho area
-Time for the twink and the bear
-“amazing chest ahead”
-To the giant blacksmith afterwards
-Buy 2 twinkling Titanite
-Kill him and feel fucking terrible for doing so how could you do that he was just minding his own business and then you come along and just fry his ass you are not a nice person
-He drops his hammer, pick it up
-Learn teleportation
-Kill the Firekeeper in New Londo for her soul which means that you are now also a Firekeeper killing asshat that deserves to die
-Get back to Quelaag’s sister and upgrade the Pyro Flame to +15
Part 5:
-Time for the Catacombs!
-Get down all the way to Pinwheel and kill that joke of a boss for the Rite of Kindling
-Bone back out and buy the weapon smithing box from Andre (might aswell do this early)
-Farm some stickmen for 1 purple, 1 red and 1 blooming moss clump
-Visit your home town
-Drop one of each into the nest and receive twinkling titanite for them
-Upgrade the Blacksmith Giant Hammer to +4
-Time to discover Lost Izalith
-Firedemon is weak to Fire for some fucking reason
-Kill Centipede Demon with the Hammer
-Once in Lost Izalith, find the chest with the 20k souls and bone out
-Go back to the run-away pyromancer and ascend your +15 Flame aswell as upgrading it
-Back to Izalith again
-Proceed normally and get to the shortcut
-Be sure to kill the crystal lizard for the twinkling titanite
-Kill Solaire :(
-Get his sick glowing hat
-Do Bed of Chaos next (Ring of FaP is usefull here)
-Be relieved that you are done with that shitty thing
Part 6:
-Time for Duke’s Archives
-Go through them normally
-Be sure to get the final necessary twinkies on your way through the crystalized corridor
-Embrace death and hope you don’t get cursed
-Upgrade your Hammer to +5
-Bust out of prison
-Get all the way up and walk the plank to the hidden cell for the White Séance Ring
-Get through the rest of the archives and kill Seath - use the hammer (again, hope not to get cursed)
Part 7:
-Back down to Blighttown
-Visit your Pyromancer GF again
-Get Fire Tempest for killing Bed of Chaos
-Go the long way up to get Power Within
Part 8:
-Four Kings is next!
-Kill Big Doggo for the ring
-Get to the New Londo Blacksmith
-Revert the Occult Club back to normal and make it divine
-Get the Seal Key from the guy in red
-Flush the water down the drain
-Might as well get the Red Tearstone Ring
-Greet the locals
-Kill the Four Kings (the video used the Hammer and full Havel)
-Visit your Pyro GF one last time to upgrade the Flame all the way to +5
Part 9:
-Time for Nito
-Use the bright head to get through that hellhole
-Turn human at the last bonfire before Nito and kill the invader for his shield Sanctus (for DLC)
-The Divine Club is for Nitos Skelly friends - they wont stand back up if killed with it
-Hammer Nito into the ground
Part 10:
-Bring all those great souls back to the Lordvessel and go fight Plim Plim

Fun fact: Actually tried this, mildred dumbass AI died before even getting to half the health of queelag, so i had to fight her with only a reinforced club, probably the most satisfying thing ever in this game

If only her AI didn't absolutely fuck up. Instead of rolling out of the lava she got stuck in she'll just try to walk out of it and get staggered non-stop until she dies. Also sometimes the RNG Gods forsake you and Queelag will do that semi-rare jump attack where she does huge leap at you and sprays lava at you. I've gotten stuck underneath her abdomen while the lava killed me. It's horrible.
For a soul level 1 (or, really, any build with extremely low health) it's beneficial to retain cursed status. Since it halves your max health and, combined with dusk crown ring, your max hp becomes 143. This is beneficial, because it means you can lower the damage taken from power within to 1 damage per second (1% of 143 is one, rounded down). Coupled with sanctus (you don't need the stats for the healing effect) which heals 2 every 2 seconds, the effects cancel out. This means you can maintain a constant level of health, neither losing or gaining any as the effects cancel out, meaning you can proc red tearstone without dying because of power within, while not healing too much that you eventually lose the effect.
You could likely do this with the pyromancer setup you opted for, but you'd be limited to one attunement slot for great combustion (with 50% more combustions due to the dusk crown ring). Mostly though, it favours a melee SL1 and your damage becomes ridiculously strong. If you roll with that into NG+ you can get a second power within, which in turns gives you 3 (2, plus dusk ring 1). This also works for any glass cannon build, which is also good.

For those of you looking to do this yourself, I recommend the much more consistent, albeit dangerous method of alternating hits on quelaag between you and mildred. You can do this to abuse her aggro AI so she never actually kills mildred and finish the fight much faster, as mildred's AI can be finnicky, however this does run the risk of getting you killed.
Her AoE kills me in the "safe spot" every time anyway because Mildred insists on luring her right next to me. Guess I'll try your method.
Edit: Discovered using the shield against the AoE leaves me with a sliver of health, kindled bonfire for extra healing, it worked out after a few more tries.

I've been playing Dark Souls 1 (even after it pretty much died) ever since it came out and while I haven't needed to use these kind of tutorials myself, you have some of the most straight forward and easiest to follow tutorials on souls games.

Just realized, I never updated this. I beat this challenge on 9/24/2021. Couldn't one shot manus, he was by far the most challenging for me. I died many times learning what could be blocked and what needed evasion/silver amulet timing.

@@ladyfox6705 Hi! After a year I finally found the time to attempt this and you know what? It turned out to be a completly valid guide! There were some kinks and places where I went and done something myself, but for 95% of the time I followed the video and it was an awesome expirience! (except for bed of chaos, it was horrible). I usually play dex=sex fighters and checking some OP pyromancy build was very fun. Completed the SL1 run in about a week after work and had a great time :)
@@ladyfox6705 Although it has to be noted that you need to play the game yourself beforehand. I feel like it is assumed that you are familiar with bosses and places and for a complete novice this guide wouldn't work

A shame in the remaster there is no reason to do this other than to say you did, because they added DS3 matchmaking. So you won't be able invade or summon anyone. :|
I invaded someone earlier as a lvl one and one shotted him with my giant blacksmith hammer, it's possible to find people, just rare
alan eklund, sure you can. But you can only connect with players within +/- 4 levels of your highest weapon of shield. So if you run with a +5 GBS Hammer (10) or +5 Ascended Flame (15) you won't find many at low levels.
