- Dark Souls is a game with many different builds and fighting styles, yet most involve some sort of melee combat. However, is it possible to beat Dark Souls with ONLY Pyromancy?

Fun fact for this run, if you summon or are invaded by a player who has a +10 pyromancer flame in the blighttown swamp, quelana will appear even if you don’t have an upgraded flame!
That’s something I didn’t know 👀 learn something new every day!
@@GamersWeekend yeah this just happened in a duo run by Italian youtubers Sabaku and Cydonia, the first being the core of the Italian dark souls community (a sort of Vaatividya) and the other being on his first playthrough. They've had an invasion every 10 minutes the whole time, and saw two vagrants each. It's nuts.

The weight of the amor alone would require him to be ripped, given his size. He's basically Busuzo, if Busuzo used a Hammer instead of an axe.

I'm pretty sure that the reason why the dragon crest ring works with pyromancy is cause pyromancys used to be known as fire sorceries and only became it's own thing after the witch of izalith became the bed of chaos,in fact the fire demon sage is the last fire sorcerer
As such it's considered primitive and unrefined, leading to it being shunned by the sorcerers of Vinheim. Pyromancers are outcasts, as noted by Laurentius of the Great Swamp, pyromancy doesn't mesh well with advanced culture.
Yeah they probably went in early states of development with pyromancy as a variety of sorcery like in demons souls, changed it to a separate school with a separate catapyst, but forgot to program it out of the ring

it technically shouldn't because pyromancy is not fire sorcery. pyro is created from the soul itself where fire sorcery isnt.

Black flame actually deals a portion of its damage as physical... So you could theoretically kill the fire immune bosses that way...

Maneater Mildred is super resistant to fire because she's always bathing in Quelaag's lava pools.
Edit: I was joking at first, but now I'm convinced the developers gave her high fire resistance to stop her getting obliterated by lava during the boss fight.
i believe that Mildred has the highest "Resistance" stat in the game, at least among the human/undead NPCs

actually that's exactly what it is all the bosses to Bed of chaos can be killed or skipped as a pure pyro and that just cabt be a coincidence

8:54 Pyromancies are internally treated like Sorceries, so anything that "boosts sorceries" also boosts Pyromancies. The Bellowing does not boost Miracles, and it only affects direct damage spells, not weapon buffs or the poison Pyromancies.
Fun fact : pyromancies are actually very very very ancient sorceries if you look at the lore.

Your pov is very true for most of the game but lost izilath and demon ruins is where this challenge earns its name as pretty much every boss there has fire resistance. Oh and ornstein and smough second phase
Most every challenge run I see someone says this. it's still more challenging than playing a standard pyromancer who would just have a chaos or fire sword backing him up.

Also, when only three bosses in the whole game are immune to fire, one of which can be skipped, and the other cheesed, I wouldn’t call that much of a challenge.
SL1 Pyro is a very fun build to play. I've done it myself. SL1 Darkwraith is also very fun.
@@Xaero13 SL1 Pyro is arguably not THAT gimped, since pyromancy doesn't scale with stats. Only downside is less health and Stam but, not as bad as it sounds really if you know the movements. Sounds fun!
I am pretty sure that Black Flame in DS1 deals partially physical damage, so it should have worked against the fire-immune bosses.
And all fire immune bosses either have summons available or need less hits that the black flame allowed (bed of chaos and ceaseless)

I think it's funny that you struggled against Kalameet, because with Power Within and an RTSR setup, it is possible to one-shot him with Chaos Fire Storm, I believe it's called. And Power Within is a pyromancy too, so it doesn't break the rules of this run.

Why didnt you do DLC before Izalith so you can damage bed with black flame?
I mean I’m only three minutes in and I’m assuming he punched the bed of chaos
Well he pretty much seems to improvised the whole run, so yeah...
you can also use death cam to skip quelag and do it later
The run still wouldn't be possible because there's no way to get to the DLC before Quelaag, so no way to get black flame to kill her. Punching her to death or using Mildred don't count because neither are pyromancies, and skipping her with the deathcam glitch would break the no major bugs or glitches rule. That's why he says in the first 5 seconds that it isn't possible and also why he used a glitch to kill centipede demon

12:18 So I had no idea that you could cheese the centapied that way when I first played. I went in and in the middle of the fight he did his grab attack twice in a row (which felt cheap) so then when he suddenly disappeared out of existence and I was told I vanquished him, I was like "well... You shouldn't have been such a cheap ass". Didn't even feel bad lol

Oh boy, the Quelaag bit brings back memories of doing this run in a slightly different way. I did a variant with only the dragon head stone, no armor, and no blocking. Quelaag, Gwyn, Artorias and 4 Kings were absolute hell.
So my first playthrough. Gotcha

Nice video. Pyromancies were my favorite, because of how useful they are in a hybrid built where you mix melee and magic. And with the right pyros and an upgraded flame Ornstein and Snough become a lot easier. Some 9f those spells hit like a truck XD

Your videos remember me of a friend that used to watch me streaming DS Remaster on discord servers, he always liked to put nintendo-like music on groovy to listen to while playing.
He, also, encouraged me to learn English by myself (I'm Brazilian and only spoke Portuguese back in the day).
He passed away in 2020 by covid complications, he had asthma and that made it difficult to pass through. I confess that I cried watching your videos and remembering these moments with him, he would love to watch your content too.

All the Lost Izalith chaos demons are going to be a nightmare.
Fun Fact: Some boss souls are worth more if you trade them with Frampt instead, including Gwyndolin's Soul, Moonlight Butterfly, Sif's soul, and possibly Ornstein's soul. However, he only will give a whopping 1 single soul for Smough's Soul.
Is there a lore reason for that? I mean, why would Frampt "favor" Orstein?
@@Pedro14ceara Because Frampt is the Kingseeker, and is allied with Gwyn and Anor Londo. Particularly, it is known that Kingseeker Frampt and Dark Sun Gwyndolin are dual-teaming the scheme to lead Undead into perpetually linking the fire.
Ornstein is the captain of Gwyn's four elite knights. Smough was rejected from being the fifth knight, because he is a shameless cannibal - which is heavily frowned upon by Gwyn and the general society of Anor Londo. Ergo, because Frampt shares their views, he despises Smough.
A fist weapon only run would be cool to see , cestus and dragon bone hijinks

You can do this at level 1 actually. You never need to level up, but fighting kings is gnarly. Otherwise ez fun run love the content
Kings isn't that bad. Just wear Havel's armor to tank damage and spam fireballs.

My first time playing this game, I did not know how to upgrade.
I got the Havel Set
I got the Immortal Great Club or Dragon Tooth
And I sucked. I couldn't beat gwyn.
@@uuddlrlrabsmhm8430 All it takes is a lot of practice, and a lot more patience. SL1 is actually pretty fun if you know what you're doing. The strongest weapon you can equip is the Reinforced Club, but your main damage dealer will be the Pyromancy Flame. The first thing that will help is getting the Elite Knight gear from Darkroot Forest in the room before the Butterfly. You can equip two(?) of those armor pieces with the Reinforced Club and still be able to roll decently, and the Stone armor after you open the way to Sif. You can only equip the chest piece without fat rolling though IIRC. Havel's Armor is an absolute MUST if you fight the 4 Kings. Equip it all and run in close and spam Combustion.

For Bed and Ceaseless, maybe you could've tried going for an early Black Flame, since the damage is partially physical?

Ah I remember doing this challenge. Walking into the Capra fight right out of the asylum in RTSR setup with the intention of throwing time consuming spells that I'm not allowed to miss is pretty fucking intimidating.
So you technically can't beat ds1 pyro only since you can't kill bed of chaos 😅 was fun to watch

I agree with you one hundred percent! I tried having her help me with the boss fight and she was so dumb for the entire battle.
I tried this one run with bleed only and got the Life hunt scythe as my weapon. I did not know that it gives the wielder bleed procs as well as your enemies. I raged a lot.
The thing with the centipede is exactly what happened to me in my first play through
I think for some of the fire immune bosses, especially bed of chaos, you could have used the poison mist from eingyi which you can purchase when egged

11:26 the reason about that is because the Demon "Firesage" can be damage with fire is because he's damage is Magic based, it's the same like the Blue Smelter Demon from Dark Souls 2
