    The low voltage wire going to my doorbell has a re and white and they are in the same cable insulation. I followed it to the basement where I think a transformer used to be. The whites were wire nutted together and the reds were nutted apart. To wire a transformer in, at the mechanical doorbell I connect the red to the transformer connection, the white to the doorbell, so I run the red to the transformer and red on the other screw to the doorbell and tie the whites together so they go from the mechanical doorbell’s connection and straight to the doorbell.

    Thank you, I could not find my transformer until I saw your video and found it hidden behind the furnace switch.

    Anyone have any videos on how to do a three door bell button setup? I have three doors. Possibly 4 doors if I wanted to do one of my interior porch doors?

    If you upgrade your transformer to 24V from a 15 volt transformer would that increase possibly damage your chime and or light in the door bell switch making the light run hot and damage the plastic covering the light bulb due the increase in volts? Please advise.

      Whatever voltage the manufacturer recommends for there chime is what I would do 👍

    im just gonna ask this here in case someone can answer. So i bought the 16v 30va transformer that ring sells for my ring doorbell pro 2, so it seems that it may not be enough because the mechanical chime sometimes does not work sometimes for days at a time then it suddenly works again, the video doorbell itself works well. Im thinking of changing to a 24v transformer, will that break my mechanical chime?

      My chime would not work like yours I had to turn it sideways and it works perfectly now every time.

    Thanks for the help, but it is against code for that to be on the same circuit as the furnace. Furnaces have to be on a dedicated circuit

    So I purchased a Eufy doorbell cam and the app notified me that I need to purchase a 16-30 transformer. I purchased one from amazon and it looks similar to your transformer pictured at 4:20, I have the same Chime box that you have but where do I place the transformer?

      Depending on where you live... it might be in the attic, basement, or closet. Try to find the wiring in the attic coming from the front door/doorbell area. It will most likely be red and white and will go into an electrical box.

    Does the chime have to support 24vadc? Do I need to purchase a chime that support 24 vadc?

    • @HandlesSuck123
      @HandlesSuck123 Před 11 měsíci +1

      No. Most of the voltage load will be used up by the doorbell camera. A 16V chimebox is fine.
