  • We will walk you through how to replace your old doorbell by adding your blink doorbell to your system as well as hardwire the doorbell to the existing wiring from the old doorbells existing line. Also we installed the corner, or wedge, so we get a better view of the door. This will allow the blink system to work, but also will have your old door bell ring as well.

    One thing all the tutorials online seem to miss out is the door bell still requires 2 AA batteries even when it's hard wired. The battery will need to be changed every 2 months depending on use, unless you use a module. Seems pointless hardwiring it imo. It becomes unresponsive when the batteries need changing

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  Před rokem +12

      Yes, I was disappointed when I myself found out that the hardwire did not replace the need for batteries, but I do like that it still makes the old doorbell chime sound when rung. As for the battery life, at the time of this reply, I have not yet needed to change the batteries and the system is never turned off. And trust me, with all those ulta deliveries it gets a lot of use lol.

      @stevew4754 Před 11 měsíci

      Hi!. When Ring doorbells are installed the power to the bell is disconnected by bypassing the original house bell circuit when the two wires are joined. Then having installed the Ring system, the old house bell box doesn't ring. I wonder if you looked at this and joined the relevant wires as they were originally, maybe the old bell would work again. With the Ring system a separate chime box is said to be required.The two different designs are different. :-)

I have another brand doorbell and you cannot use a electronic door bell with it because it only operates mechanical doorbells due to the wires power coming from a transformer and my doorbell always has a buzz to it because the wires ate suppling power to run the doorbell button outside.

    I am switching to Blink from another video doorbell. It had a device that I had to wire into my existing doorbell to prevent it from constantly buzzing. When I hooked it up without that, the bell buzzed constantly as the video doorbell actually completed the circuit somewhat and let electricity through to my existing mechanical chime. Will I have that problem with the Blink?

      The manual says it needs 16v AC, but mine is 12v AC. I hooked it up anyway, and the power analysis said it was okay!
      How do you change the name of the camera so that the announcement on Alexa says the correct name? I have Blink Mini and a new Blink doorbell, both refuse to be renamed. I had originally named the Mini "Basement Camera", but then I decided to move it to the garage, so I went to the app and changed the name to " Garage ", and in the app, it renamed it, but Alexa still tells me, " Motion detected on the Basement Camera ", and I can't change it. I even made sure it was changed on the Alexa app. No joy.
      Now, same thing the doorbell. It says " Someone is at the Front door (very long serial number) " , which is very annoying. Can't change it.
