Fly Fishing - Small Stream Delights In Yorkshire

A day fishing tiny dry flies on the River Wenning. Sadly, I spoked a couple of Sea Trout that were lurking in the shadows, which were easily in the three to four pound mark. Sadly, all the trout caught were very small, but the day was no less enjoyable for their generosity.
I was fishing a 7ft Garrison 201 which is a lovely traditional split cane rod and ideal for dry fly fishing on small streams. #flyfishing #troutfishing

Yet another area that I would love to fish. For many years my Father subscribed to Trout and Salmon, and I vividly remember reading about the Wharfe, Ribble and Eden, etc... maybe someday.

Beautiful setting, cant beat the small streams in my opinion, how small were your flies? I start to struggle to tie them on about size 20

On the small streams i tend to only around three fly patterns. A size 16 Para Adams, a size 16/18 Treacle Parking. And a size 14/16 CDC Needle Fly.

I use a 7ft 3 weight Garrison 201 cane rod which has a nice smooth through action making it ideal for dry fly fishing. The line is a Barrio Mallard DT3, and I use a 10ft leader tapered down to a 7x tippet. Hope that helps.
