As a music lover (English) from the late 50's I consider Polly Harvey to be one of the greatest solo musical artists the UK has ever produced. Up there with Bowie, Dusty Springfield and Kate Bush. With the new album and this tour I think she is at the peak of her considerable powers.
@@peterjosvai9804 True Polly has had various collaborators over the years. But she has released her albums under her own name only. She is also clearly the main singer songwriter. In that sense she can be compared to the people I have mentioned like David Bowie, Kate Bush etc. Again these were artists who had collaborators but who released music under their own name only.
it's funny I just left St Vincents performance at Kate Bush's induction to the R&R HOF. I DON'T know PJ Harvey's music but have read about her (interviews, reviews, etc)....so inform me please on where to start with her music.
@@EastmanD Given that you have commented on the comments section of "To bring you my love " (1995) you could start with that album. A rocky album. I would then go to "White chalk" (2007) , which I think is her masterpiece . An album of Piano Ballets. If you like those albums then listen to the new album from this year. It is easily my favourite album of the year. Above the National, Natalie Merchant and Lana Del Rey , Far from Saints, and Romy amongst others. There are numerous you tube performances for you to watch from over the last 30 plus years including Glastonbury. You may be interested to watch the ""Tiny desk" performance from last week ! in which I think she gave a mesmeric live performance. She opens with my favourite track of the year "I inside the old I dying " which is magical and ethereal. Supposedly about the second coming. I rate this track higher than even the superb new Beatles track ! If you like the above I would then go back to the beginning of her career and listen to "Dry" her debut album. Happy listening !
@@EastmanDthat is not an easy task. Each album she has made is different in sound and concept. I'd recommend to choose a record, and if it doesn't click at first, go for the next. The latest one is drastically different from Dry, her first album. This song is from a record of the same name, so if you are into this sound you will probably like it as well
In ancient times masses would travel for weeks and even months to witness this miracle-oracle woman.

😊😇🙏🎤🎸 PJ Harvey , One of The Best Female Singer / Songwriter
of All !
This is one of those songs I find so mesmerizing and this version is performed live so well. Spot on with the album version.
Polly's a vampire. Ageless, timeless, and powerful.
This visual is incredible and so fitting to the sound.
Incredible
What a great musician. PJ impressed me with her unbelievable voice and her gigantic presence on stage.
After so many years this live performance is just like the studio version. I've liked it so much since I bought the record.
This sounds dramatically unlike the studio version. Intentionally, I think. Easily recognized as the same song, but a different mood.
A legendary performer still at the pinnacle of her art.
Sit over here, PJ's gonna tell you a story
that's all you need right there

except that she's no solo... her friends, her band is an organic part of the music -- as you know :)

*_Polly an Artist in absolutely every sense of that word - Such unique ethereal beauty ..._*
Just the best we've got here in the UK and has been since the beginning.
Omg. The song. Amazing. But your latest performance. Incredible. Thank you!
Goddess!!
Loved the back-lit dress though
That dress is stunning and she wears it so well!
What a tone from that jazzmaster
Slow burn. She does it so well.

l think Pollys mike should be louder than John's guitar. Other than that it still sounds brilliant.
Incredible...understated and huge.
espetacular

To be honest,I liked her more when she played rock in the 90's.
💙 Polly Jean
Spooky!👀

Interesting, I didn’t think she still performed her older stuff. Glad she does though. And really inhabiting a character here 🤔
I think she's gone forever and Polly is the only soul that comes close.
Never share your heart with strangers. Keep it pure.
😅
Rootable AF.....
The sound mix favors the lead guitar too much. Vocal too low.
