- Tim Minchin's brilliant & witty demolition of irrationality in all its many guises - with rolling text from me -all in the medium of a 9-minute beat poem. Audio from the QEH Dec 2008 show with kind permission from Tim Minchin.

hey, tim here. am hoping to spend some time in the US next year (2010).
and by the way, "TimMinchinLive" is not me. it seems to be a very nice and supportive channel, but a bit cheeky to speak as me, i think.
love me.
Hey bro I love your work
Only 24 likes on the original artist's comment below the 12 year old video that is the first one that comes up when searching up the lyrics is quite a remarkable find I must say
Tim, reply to me.
This is perfect beat poetry, man. Every single word is perfectly chosen, no syllable wasted. Tim Minchin is a fucking genius.
Musicians, artists, and rational thinkers in common cause to fight ignorance. The world needs this kind of collaboration.

This was simply genius! I so wish I had the talent of word smithery.
wow, just that last part completely blew me away. the "we'd as well be ten minutes back in time, for all the chance you've changed your mind". it's just such an awesome acceptance of people's inability to change their beliefs
Scepticism is such a wonderful healthy way to view the world. And the world is a better place for Tim promoting it.
Good on ye mate.
The poem is amusingly seussian--and the narrator is so much more patient and forebearing than I would be. Good for him.
Brilliant and beautiful. I sought out this poem after hearing Tim Minchin interviewed on The Skeptics' Guide to The Universe, episode #184.
i love how tim minchin can cause such a inteligent scientific debate on youtube with just one brilliant song.
Thank you Miltmerm for putting your time into doing this video. I have a hearing disability and my enjoyment of slam poetry is just increased immensely with the guide of subtitles. Hope you do more!
Excellent song, maybe my favourite by him. Thanks a lot for putting it up, hadn't heard it since I went to one of his gigs.
This is one of the best things I've come across in a long, long time.
OMFSM! This is very, very good... I'm still giggling from the wonder of it. Thanks for sharing!
A friend showed this to me and allthough I felt I lost some time of my life seeing it beacause I pretty much agree with our little poet here I must say sure spread the word. but do so to people who need to hear it
"Like a sniper using bollocks as ammunition" - pure, unadulterated brilliance, that line ^_^
Absolutely Wonderful. Here here to REASON! Here here to Tim for being so good at showing REASON's reason!
Awesome Milton, cheers for putting this on!
Tim really sums up Sagan's point about Scooby Doo being the ultimate free inquiry show on TV...
Great job with the text.
Had heard this before but it's nice to be able to read along with it.
Thanks!
This is just too beautiful for words. More please..
I was there on Saturday in Perth too, it was brilliant, never seen him live before, and it was fantastic.
This is amazing. So articulate and logical. I love how Tim has the talent to not only put these feelings into poem but to dash it with humour and seriousness at the same time. Magnificent.
Awesome poetry and a great job on the text. Thanks!
If only people didn't waste the words "awesome" and "magnificent" on such casual topics, because this is truly great. So I will pin it with the best word it is worthy of: glorious!
i want this played at my funeral (hopefully no time soon!)- it totally sums up my outlook on life. Awesome awesome awesome. See you on monday timmy the dog
i got this on i tunes...........this guy is a genius......can listen to him all day.saw him in warrington last week amazing!
This is definitely a combination of my two favorite things... jazz and atheism.
its the best thing i've heard in a long time.
My world was just rocked. Awesome!!!
Got to see this live the other night, absolute ripper! nice work on the transcribing too.
It must take so much imagination, creativity.. and of course knowledge! for him to come up with such a great poem! I love love love it!
I just keep listening to this over and over. It's so fucking painfully brilliant. What a mind that man has.
Love the added text, great work.
I went to this gig, it was brilliant.
♥ Tim
I love this poem. Great job with the rolling text!
Love this part: "Science adjusts its views based on what is observed. Faith is the denial of observation, so the belief can be preserved."
Science is the best method we have as humans (up to date) for explaining the world around us.
thank you so much for posting this.
so entertaining. so satisfying.
This is absolutely brilliant.
Amazing.
Ah, Tim Minchin, once again displaying his genius with words.
It took some time before I became comfortable with it, but now I just, can't picture any nonense anymore. If asked, while actually being serious, I'll say that I am happy being a nothing. I don't need no person to tell me our lives are worth anything. I need to be able to live, have a troubled life, and be rewarded somehow during it. Hopefully, when I die, I die content. If there IS more after it, well, they can tell me then,- I don't deny God if he himself says he exist.
Jolly good! You've eloquently expressed. better than I could have, my feelings towards this sort of mindset. Also, I'm glad there's still good beat poets.
Fantastic. Just...amazing. I love it.
This is brilliant. We need more atheists like Mr. Minchin. Standing up for what they believe, attacking nonsense wherever they find it.
Absolutely wonderfully done! I loved it. :D
You hit the nail on the head,
drove it straight through the board
and embedded it into the concreet floor.
that lied beneath.
I'm a religious person and I found this amusing to no end. Fucking eloquent, and spot-on. And now I can't get his accent out of my head, but I'm not bothered by this. In fact I rather like it.
Life is short. Enjoy it while you can. There is no afterlife, nor any other consolation guaranteed. We are but insignificant specks in the scheme of things. No use in fretting over insignificant matters.
I never get tired of listening to this.
i used to have faith in the supernatural and alternative medicine, but thanks to tim minchin, i am now cured. thanks tim!
One of the most brilliant things I've ever heard.
Heard you on SGU today, a pleasure. Storm is awesome, especially the sad last bit about changing minds - sigh. There's just no changing the minds of folks who already KNOW their truth, evidence to the contrary be damned....
Twice as long,
to love Tim Minchin
That is the coolest thing I've heard this week. Amazing.
Another example of Minchin's brilliance and logical analysis
I love that moment when the music cuts out at "Isn't this enough?" Perfect moment.
Wonderful! Just brilliant!
thank you for this. Brilliant!
This is beautiful.
Beyond outstanding that!
this was easily the best I've seen for a LONG time, bonus in the enjoyment is reading comments.
'nooo there is a god, auras, my homeopathy is NOT fake, NONONO!!1'
Brilliant.
Very awesome. Ignorant, I've never heard of Tim Minchin before but I definitely will be looking up more of his stuff in the future. Thanks for the vid!
Mind=Blown at his brilliance.
Bravo, Tim. I'm impressed.
This was amazing! Why isn't this man more famous?
That was absolutely brilliant.
Flawless. Love it.
I saw him at the Lowry too! He was awesome :). I wish I could have met him afterwards though, but I had awesome seats :)
"But can you look into other dimensions?" - Yes from One to Three, and a the side of a 4d aboject called time. "what makes you think that this hypothetical being could look into ours, let alone read our thoughts and control us?" - Control us?, no, but read into our thoughts - absolutely because our thoughts and moral decisions create quite a complex 4d shape which can be viewed in enirety (i.e. all possible outcomes).
Fantastic!
Saw Tim do this one in Glasgow this year. The man's a prodigy.
Oh, my science, this is BEAUTIFUL.
Brilliant. Tim, my hero.
this thing made my day. thumbs up
wow just amazing
Brilliant, just brilliant. Tim Minchin is a genius
I love this!
Tim is a genius to think of all this great lyrics

i love the use of shakespeare in this, tim minchin is a true genius
To gild refined gold,
To paint the lily,
To throw perfume on a violet,
Is just fucking silly.
Another great piece of work tim. thumbs up.
This made my day
Awesome! Tim's the best.
Amazing.
Awesome!
i want to hug this guy an say thank you,
Tim Minchin is a lyrical genius.
Really really well written and awsomly well said.
All love from me Jasmine
Wunderful!
This is so good it requires a movie. Not text video. Movie. Do eet!
BRILLIANT!
Brilliant! I had a similar conversation with someone recently about homeopathy; I tried to keep quiet, but the label on the bottle, 12C, made me giggle, leading to a rant of sorts.
Thank you kind stranger!
awesome!
He just makes so much sense :) I actually love him
i went to see him today and he sang this, it was awesome! :D
This was pretty much perfect. I just wish if there were to ever come a time in which I would be able to own someone all while doing it with meter and rhyme.
and it made my day too, I've just posted it to our local Freethinkers and the Facebook Brights group. :))
Terrific!
I love tim minchin. He should do a world tour!
I saw this at Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People in December. Absolutely brilliant, especially for the conceit of using a 'beatnik' art form to defend rationality.
just brilliant
kudo's to Tim for permission to use his work here. Great stuff
This really reminds me of David Tennant's Doctor's rants :P
It's so awesome :)
hahaha nice dude and I like the relaxing music in the background
