Hook 7 had started to be slow responding to key inputs with Cursor. Recently when out fishing the Pages function worked perfectly to access Waypoints. Then the Pages button failed to function when attempting to access the Pages menu, it would only beep. After about 5 attempts using the Soft Reset it is now functioning again. Thank you.
Is there any way to update a Hook 2 7 split shot model to be able to have side image. Can you just but a triple shot transducer and swap the split shot out?
This video and information are wrong , at least for 2019. I downloaded the update and it shows up ending in .upd. . Your computer will say it cannot open it. The reason is that it is already open. Just put it in a folder, I used downloads, and then just drag the whole thing to your mico card. Then just put it in your Hook unit and turn it on. It worked perfectly to update to a 3.0 series. They warn not to go to the Demo function or you will lose all of your setting and waypoints. You do have to set language and a few other things like you would a new unit. This did not work on my Elite unit. It functions like this video shows for that one so I guess it depends on the update date. Hope that helps someone.
Can't wait to upgrade my lowrance to a garmin.....or anything with better internals that can keep up with a boat going 30 mph. Lowrance answer "there's nothing wrong. That's just how it is."

My Hook2 7 won't update automatically. I placed the file on my root drive, put card in the slot, powered on the unit and it won't automatically update. at this moment, Im at Version 1.0
what happens if you have a maps card do you take out the maps card and put in the sd card and run your update then after it re boots replace your maps card. ????
Hi, Please check to ensure the card you are using is less than 32gb. Make certain the card is formatted for FAT32 and that the file was downloaded to the card properly. If all of thaat is good delete the file from the card and download it again. If you have a mapping card check to make certain the card reader is working by inserting the chart card and verifying the charts are loaded properly.
This happened to me and I found the SD card was not fully pressed into the slot. It could not read anything. Try again with a flashlight and maybe a popsicle stick to push it firmly in. You will feel the click when it's seated.

I have always heard that fish will show up as arches but have noticed that the arches only show up on the console unit and seem to be related to the prop and engine. Cut the engine and the arches disappear. Help from anyone familiar with these units?
Hi, From your description you have a noise issue. The first thing needed is to determine what is causing the noise. It can be electrical or acustic. Please do the following. In an area where it is safe to stop and in 15-20' of water stop the boat shut of everything but the unit.Let the unit obtain the bottom. Watch the display for 30 seconds and note how the display looks. you should see the unit indicating the bottom and there will likely be a band at the top of the screen as well. The center portion of the water column should be relatively clean. Now start the engine. Note how the display looks. If you now see more activity on the screen that would be electrical interference. Put the drive in neutral and begin slowly increasing the RPM's. If the screen begins to show more fish or the display begins to show more activity like lines or streaks that again is electical interference. Bring the throttle back to idle.. If that test indicates a problem your wiring needs to be checked. You may have to re-route some wires, clean connections, or find a different point to attach the power leads. If that was not the problem or affter you have corrected that issue perform the following test. Again in an area safe to work and in 15-20' of water bring the boat to a stop and allow the unit to obtain the bottom with the engine running. Put the boat in forward and idle along. Again note the activity on the screen. Slowly increase the speed of the boat. increase the speed while watching the display. If this test shoed interference it is acustic in nature and the transducer installation needs to be reviewed. The transducer needs "clean" water meaning no turbulence. It shoiuld be slightly below the surface of the hull, angled slighty up at the front and there should be no strakes, through hull fittings or obstructions like water pickups forward of the transducer. Once you have the noise issue corrected you should find the unit performs well.
@@lowrance Thanks for the detailed info! This is a brand new Tracker boat, professionally installed so rerouting wires or transducer seems strange. I find it a bit incredible that the design of the unit would show fish and "electrical noise" to look the very same. I'll investigate deeper and thanks for the reply!
@@lowrance Upon further investigation, it appears that the dealer may have installed the unit/transducer wrong. My boat came with a Split Shot and a Triple Shot unit. They installed the longer transducer going to the split shot Hook and they put the Triple shot transducer on the trolling motor but it is going to the Triple Shot Hook2 on the bow. Is that wrong? you have to push that little white scroll piece on the side of your sd card adapter to the unlock position then it will allow the transfer to the sd card
is this a free download because i just bought a new hook 7 and most of the time it has me driving in grass or woods.even though i'm in the middle of the river.

I spent 200 k on this 2 door build. I told them I wanted the best in there for trails. My build took over a year to build I also had it shipped out to florida for LS swap. After I got it and tried to use unit.There is a fish for marker. I asked the guys at the offroad store how to use it and they didn't know??Go figure how could it be the best. maybe just highest cost. Upgrading will erase all your settings even if you not go to Demo mode, you have to change Units etc. (In Europe we don't know anything about Feets or Fahrenheits!) It also erases your Trip data, so if you need them, backup before! And your sonar type and settings for Ice fishing, annoying!!!

What formatting should the microSD card be? Fat32? EXFAT? something else? What size SD card is required for updates?

You then have to delete the file or else it will update everytime you start up with the card in.
You have to remove the card to put the Map card back in. The update can be then deleted on your computer and you can use it for something else.

Yes, you should be able to put both updates on the same card.

Yep, that's what you do. You can also update your map card the same way. Sometimes you may have to pay.
Also can the Insite Pro map card from a Hook 5 be used in my new Hook 9 that didn’t come with the accessory maps and will it cause any issues?

I used my map card. But you must remember to delete update file afterwards. If you have an extra micro sd, it's surely safety that way.

Never mind. Switching the units to the right transducer solved the problem.
it says; "The disk is write-protected." Can you help?
Eject the disk from the computer. Flip the little slider on the side of your SD card. Insert card back into computer & try loading software again.

It's free but that won't help the navigation feature. You can update the maps though or buy the premium map for 150 bucks.
