DESCRIPTION:
Shaping a beard can make all the difference in the world. Not only will it look cleaner, but if done right it can give you added fullness. But understanding how to shape a beard can be difficult. Deciding where to trim your lines can be tricky the first time, so Spencer walks you through exactly how to shape a beard and where to trim your top, back and neck lines.
How to shape a beard: Top line
This line should be trimmed in to connect your sideburn to your mustache. Focus to keep this line as high as naturally possible.
How to shape a beard: Back line
This line is the line that runs off the back of your sideburn to the bottom, back corner of your jawline. You want to keep this natural-looking by trimming away any hairs that grow too far back towards the back of your neck.
How to trim a beard: Neckline
This line is most often gone wrong! You want to trim your beard where your head connects to your neck, not your jawline. The extra hairs on your neck will be the foundation for your thick full beard as it grows out.

Legend has it that Justin, with a beard down to his knees, is still standing there, silent and motionless, to this very day.
This guy reminds me
Of my Labrador when my shitzu is constantly jumping
On him and annoying him yet he sits with perfect composure and just takes it
😂😂bro
I normally watch BeardBrand, but what I love about this channel is you have normal guys with normal beards, not models with crazy beards 😎
Normal is a great way to explain us... lol We are all Normal, for sure!
This dude has my beard growth style, really refreshing to see someone in a vid with thin cheeks and similar side flare
Yeah it seems the main growth I have is on the neck! Glad this was able to help you! Always here to support you!
Personally if I had his face shape I would bring the line up closer to his jaw, by him having it low like that make his face look round. If you were to bring it up higher it would bring out his jawline.
Been needing some guidance on this. Every time I've trimmed my beard in the past, I instantly regret it and complain profusely to my wife. Now I've got some much needed direction. Thank you!
Really one of the best tutorials for lining up just brief, informative no side talk just dived straight into to the subject
Thanks Brother!
We appreciate that!
Nice beard, brother 🤘
@@livebearded hey bro did you own a white 335i
I like watching your beard trim videos, would love to see more!
The camera angles you use are really cool, i think if you did beard trimming videos like this a lot more your channel would blow up!

Thank you. Love your class on trimming your beard.
It is our pleasure!
Nice! Now I can trim mine without screwing it up.
Brief, to the point instruction. Fantastic video 👏 👏 Much better than some of the long, drawn out videos I’ve seen that leave me feeling kinda confused 😐 ⭐️Kudos
Living Bearded Forever, YOU GUYS ROCK! And your products are the same! Semper Fidelis! Old retired Marine here! Oohrah
Great video,very helpful!
I had my doubts about his beard before you got started, but just those 4 things and it looked really good afterwards.
I for the most part already know how to trim my beard, mainly at particular lengths. But I've gained some extra tips from this video as its really well laid out and informative. So thank you brother.
I look forward to seeing your video on how to trim a moustache as that one i really do struggle with...
That's why we are hear to help support our fellow brothers with any tips and tricks to help trim their beards.

Damn this comment hurts lol
Guys facial expression on right says it all
Man That was hilarious
Another great video bro thanks heaps for all your work in front and behind the camera you rock 🪨 the kas-bar 🥳 take care and have a good day.
We appreciate you watching my friend!
Good job
I was waiting for you guys to make out
Good tutorial about trimming
Does the trim end up better, if you keep a "I am dubious about the outcome" face on like Justin? 😅😅
Got Thomas man these comments have me on the floor😂😂😂😂
Trimming my back line, on my own beard, is forever a challenge for me. lol Can't really see unless I hold a hand-held mirror and use that and the bathroom mirror to see back there... but then trying to get my trimmer hand to work properly when everything is flipped around in the mirror is like a bad dream. LOL
I usually use open razor on top line it definitely makes it look sharper ...
Thank you for this!
This ended up being super helpful for a first time beard grower. Mine basically looked just like his and I wasn't sure how to clean it up, especially on the underside of the chin, since I have that extra length there as well. +1 thumb up!
We're always here to support you brother!
You're awesome brother, peace!
This was a great video and explanation

Excellent video, I am still scared to shave my beard myself, and my girlfriend isn't confident in doing so either. Maybe I'll get her to watch this and gain some courage to do it. My beard has been growing wild for about 6 months and needs some love.
Cats that have only had beads since CZcams came out have it easy, I learned all of this on my own years ago with a ton of trial and Error so many times I had to shave it off and wear a goatee or just clean shave and start over I have been rocking the full beard since 94 the pic in my icon is about 10 years old and my first attempt at a beard fade a few years before that even became a thing lol but I had the idea and tried. Great video dude.
Without you guys paving the way for the newer generation, there wouldn't be an abundance of the beard help there is today!
Yeah easy when you have someone to do it for you as this does not happen in the bathroom mirror. My face hair turned from beard to weird in 10mins trying.
One day u will get there brother. It's a nasty road
lol its not an easy job is it

Yeah I quit trying, thankfully my old lady is real good at it. I destroy my beard everything I try to trim it
Which trimmer are you using? Seems very precise
Will support!
I am just at the six week mark of growing my first "real" beard in 56 years😀. Thanks for this buddy I have learned a little more ...I have been binge watching for tips on beard trimming😂😂
Thats awesome! Glad to hear you were able to get some take aways from the video. Happy to help!
How would you trim that mustache if you don't what to go for the handelbar big stache look?
Thanks!! Fiancé doesn’t know it yet but I’m gonna trim his. We’re 25 and it’s taken him 4 years now to start growing an actual full beard. He just needs some upkeep but refuses to do it. So again thank you!
Hey, we're glad to hear it! This video is about a year old, so be sure to check out some of our more updated content so you can give him the best trim possible! Let us know how it goes! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
What trimmers do you guys recommend going on 3 months
Can we get an current look on Justins beard? His looks like mine on the sides so im hoping mine will feel in better on the top lines.
Thanks bro

Very helpful video
What trimmer did you use?
Could you do a tutorial on getting a Scott Ian type goatee?
Nice job!
Yes ... Ive found my beard match ...Chin is slower and neck is a lil bit faster .. yehahh ... Im in my 12 th week of growing out a beard .. Tomorrow im gonna trim down that fast guy so that my chin can catch up
I commonly use this gentleman model to finish a gaze after I have made a strong verbal point in an altercation.
Nice video guys, Cheers.
Thank you , Brother!

Do you have a link to the mustache trimming video? All I see on your channel is handlebar related :/
Need to get you some nice andis T-outliners for lining up your beard so you can have nice crispy lines without using a razor
Uv actually made his beard look like a good looking beard to before just scruffy looking beard respect from Australia
You should see it now! A year later and he has a beast of a beard! It's all about the foundation. Thanks for stopping by bro!
Really informative video, thank you. I just turned 30 and have never even tried or considered some type of facial hair before now. I’m going on three weeks with no shaving and just going to see if it’s possible for me to grow something.
You got this bro! Let us know if you need anything!
Live Bearded thanks for the support, much appreciated.

You look like cap'n America my dude!
Now this is what I'm talking about. First video was a guy teaching how to keep 5'oclock shadow. No. 😐
Bro awesom
💥💪🏻💥💪🏻💥
I want my beard to be shaped like yours just dont wanna trim more because I'm afraid I'll mess it up lol ...
Looks good buy how does one do it themselves? Also, any tips on finding a good barber who does beards correctly? Thanks.
Hey Brother! Hit us up at support@livebearded.com and we can get you some info!
Shout out to justin for keeping his cool 😎
Great video, what was the intro song?
How is Justin’s beard doing now?
Ngl I wasn't ready for such an aggressive beard-stache right off the bat
Great Vid! I have a question when growing my beard, my left side grows down and my right side grows back towards my ear. Do I need to brush in the direction it goes or what?
Shoot us an email to support@livebearded.com and we can get you some info!
@@livebearded I have exactly the same question. After 100+ days of untrimmed growth, I am going for my first pro barber trim tomorrow. I will send an email as well.
Great video brothers! Hey what type (brand name) of trimmer are you using brother?
Hey Brother!! Wahl! If I have to use trimmers, the better the name the less the issues!
Im a 19 year old female why did I actually search for and watch this whole video till the very end
Lol
You can shave mine
If you need to get a good line on the cheeks I use an old Christmas/Birthday card.... it’s very flexible and a great sharp line.
Good advice bro. Thanks for the tip!
You got a great stache gowing there. My uncle waxes and curls his at the ends. Looks awesome. My mustache and beard have pattern graying. I actually like this. I do not intend to color it. At my 55 years of age I think it looks fine.
Let the gray grow, you earned them!
Thanks for this video. My goal is the "box" look and my neck grows like his does. I just trimmed mine using the same method and it looks much better. Really scary doing it the first time myself but at least I know it will grow back, lol
The first time is always the scariest! But practice makes perfect! Glad the video helped brother!
It's not that it grows faster under the chin it's just that it's lower. Some people lower the neckline as the beard grows or it could be trimmed like he does in this video. Regardless it's definitely a good tutorial.
I wish I had nice beard like him
I've gray hair more on right side than the left. What can I do to even out the color on both side.Is hair dye my only option is there a dye pencil or spray to even out the color.
Or, you can just own it ! The mixed colors show your life in true color!
I felt those trimmers pulling from here
So easy
Yessir! Just be patient and go slow!
Sick... still nervous to try.
Can u do a video on how to trim and shape the area below the bottom lip on chin?
Thanks for the suggestion!!!
Nice Beard bro
You should show before & after
nice video bro!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@livebearded do you think the neck line is too low? Is it necessary to have it that low to have a fuller beard? Or can we go a little higher coz from the sides it looks a bit lower to me, or does it depend on the face?
Great question. You get your thickness or fullness from your under beard. If you trim too high then as your beard gets longer it will become see through as your under beard is either shorter or non existant.
@@livebearded wow I didn't think of that! Thanks!! Only if I keep it a bit short I can go a little higher, but a full beard is like you said all the way down to the neck line.
Quick question, I wash my face with soap when I bathe. I don't use beard products, my beard goes untouched a month or two sometimes, it becomes irritatble and kinda itchy early in the morning. I wash it and it's gone. Even with beard just 2 weeks old. Then I shampoo it but it happens again, only sometimes. How do I shampoo it? Thanks!
You need to try an all natural beard wash or soap that is chemical free. Chemicals will dry out your skin, causing irritation. That is why you are experiencing it right after you wash. Also, grab an all natural beard oil to place on your skin. This helps irritation as well, and promotes healthy beard growth!
Another bomb ass video which helped me a lot of exactly what to do being I need to trim mine a lil but being I just hit my first yeard lol the woman or the barber might have to help me cuz my right eye lol isn’t the greatest an with a buzzer I don’t wanna risk taking a chunk off
always go slow! You got this bro!
Dude, please get an Andis Slimline Pro
Alright so question... got any content that addresses the guy with birds nest beard? My beard is hard to tame, hard to grow, and hard to make look clean. The hairs are wirery and brittle. Any attempt to trim back until it looks clean would result in baby face.
Shoot us an email to support@livebearded.com and we can get you some good info!
Where’s the moustache vid you mentioned? got a link ? 😃
It is on the channel here:
czcams.com/video/CMpeVpRtR_s/video.html
when you try to grow a beard, after how many week should you start shaving?
NEVER! lol! only top lines really! maybe a trim here and there!
So I know I'm 3 years late but can I get a direction pointed to me on how to trim a beard like Spencer's size? Please and thank you
Spence has a few videos on the channel! Feel free to browse the LB youtube and see which one fits you best!
Bro is an NPC 😅, awesome video as usual my man...
Thanks for the support brother!
A barber taught me to v it off the chin I thought maybe I was doing it wrong but I’m very close if not right on a finger from Adam’s apple I guess mine is high probably why I have had neck surgery lol
What trimmer do you recommend, if any? Thanks in advance.
We have a whole content piece on the best trimmers of 2019 in our channel. This video is about a year old, and a lot had changed since this one, ha. Go check out the videos or our blog on www.livebearded.com and you can find everything you need! Thanks for stopping by bro!
