I'm not sure I worded the question clearly, by "what resolves best" I meant what sounds Predictable / home / final/ finished, not what is most interesting or makes the best loop
Regardless, I hope the concept made sense for you all 👊❤
FYI the chord options were
1 = chord7
2 = chord3
3 = chord4
4 = chord1
I liked 2 and 4, they was similar, 1 and 3 sounded unpleasant. But I felt that in both cases ending missed one more chord, we have 2 in beginning, but only 1 in the end. Feels incomplete.
I picked option 3, it was the most similar to the chord I envisioned in my mind.
Same
Same, more stable than 4 imo. 4th chord sounds well, but I have a feeling like there shold be one more descending chord, for example at the fourth bar
Yes, I was thinking in the same direction.
@@edorian442 My thoughts exactly. I was hearing #3 in my head like the op said
same but it still wasn't very satisfying
I picked #2. I’m always drawn to those chords at the end of a chord progression.
#2 was what I heard in my head
2&4 both worked for me
Same
🎼#2 for sure - Maybe for half the bar and then resolving down to #4?
The same thought crossed my mind.
I liked number 2 the most, but not necessarily as the landing chord, more like the next logical chord in order.
Btw. that little Garage Song you put together sounded awesome ❤️
Agreed, then resolve after
same here
me too
me too
Chord 4 resolves the best for me, 2 & 3 could be used for different sections as a variation on the theme.
Number 3 for me even if it doesn't resolve as strongly as nr 4 it sounds more interesting
I'm with you on this one 100%
I also like number 2 the best. It felt interesting and less predictable. Although it felt unresolved, that’s what made it the most interesting.
This is true, feel the same👍
Same. The other options sound boring compared to number 2
I like chord 3 the best the yellow one
Man you are a real teacher, you dont mess around, just straight up this that and that is this, good luck.
I owe you a coffee.
IMO number 2 sounds much better than 4. 4 musically yet I found 2 to be a better emotional fit.
A2 is the only one that actually worked at all. The others all answered part of the question but in turn raised another one, to keep it in your terms.
I'm going to watch the rest of the video now, and might check back later.
thanks, this will definitely improved my Progressive Alien Deathcore chord progressions
Love your content. Thanks for sharing your knowledges.
Wonderful. Great tips and great choice of tune examples!
2 or 3 stood out for me. What an excellent video, thankyou. Definitely like some more applied music theory. Very useful.
Defo fancied number two and number four, with number two being my favourite.
Stunning tutorial, as per usual, your teaching, explanations and knowledge are impeccable, Sir! 👍
Thank you for the perfect tutorials. They are the perfect inspiration for experimentation 🙏
This one got to me at the right time. Feeling stuck and a dose of straightforward insight like this has me ready to jump back in. Thanks!
Oh man, it's insanely how you build up the music theory, it feels like 2Year nonstop tutorial😊...... And this is going EXACTLY in my direction in terms of chordvoicing and so on! Symply the best on CZcams, and i look on many...... It help a lot again for my music (more soulful house) Thanksss!
A whole new world of (explained) possibilities opens since I found your channel. I’ve watched quite a few of them in a short time so not sure if it all sticks in one time. But the fun part, what I learned most is, besides all theory, if it sounds good it sounds good, no need to make it more complex than just that.
Really enjoying all your videos, besides well explained theory it’s quite amusing and with enough humor. As usual many thanks ❤
Thank you for this video! I've been searching for good tutorial that explains behind the chord theory and I found your good explanation about chords in UK Garage
Great in depth video with examples as well.
Great info as always, thank you!
This is great. I needed this tutorial. 👍
Absolutely amazing.
Number 2, this was nice😊
Thanks foe ur advice🙏✌️
Cool stuff, Thanks B 🙏
Amazing video Thank you!
14:49 Hahahahaha I was dead!
Very useful! Thanks!
U rock, it was so interesting and helpful and ez to understand, thxxx a lot
Thats great content! Thanx
yessss please more garage videos
Nice ,you explained why the 2,5,1 works so well.
This is the best explanation I’ve ever heard 🙌🌞 thank you 🙏
maan, this was so helpfull, I'm going to binge watch your other videos. Thanks
Your videos honestly inspire more than anything else on youtube to just get in my daw and start making stuff!
Loved this theory explanation. I've heard it before but something about this presentation really clicked for me
Amazing video, good sir!
This covered music theory that I already pretty much knew and used plenty.
But I love these sounds! I guess garage is a thing I never knew I liked until now. The explanations were also really solid and entertaining.
Will come back for inspiration and information. Subbed.
beautiful
I'd definitely pick number 2, also really like that concept you got. Nice groove bro
i really like the option 2! sound so good
Thanks enjoyed that ❤
great video thank you!
Fantastic tutorial, i now have a new way of looking at chords
Number 3 all the way B!
#2 ..makes the bass playing more attractive to my ears 😊 ..gives it a vibe i like.
hi am from south Africa i would like to thank your channel is amazing keep up good work i hope one to be on your level
im blessed to have been taught by gifted people and love your vids cause i dissect chords in a similar manner. you're doing the lord's work teaching this.
Great video once again
Once in a while I have the privilege to stumble upon a video that provides 100x more value than most other ones and this is one of them. Thank you for putting this together in such an eloquent and sophisticated manner - Makes me curious as to what else your channel has to offer.
Cool vid. Learned new things. Also on the vocal part, I preferred it without the switch-up of chords at the end.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR AGES MAN.
YOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I AM THANKFUL FOR YOUR EXISTENCE.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Number 2 is spicing things up for me! I believe its a borrowed chord I'm not sure. But it vibes!
4 & 2 for me. Man, your videos are pure art 🔥
Great video! 4 felt more like home but 3 was the most interesting to me. It's nice to feel just a bit more competent in minor keys
thank you
If there's one thing I have to spend my time doing, it's watching every new upload. Always practical information that gives me insight into things I can feel is different between tracks but can't quite put my finger on. Love it
#4 for me felt a bit safe, although add elements would complement the chord more, #2 or #3 are my pick. i think of alternating between them every 16 bars
Thanks for another video! Im learning alot from you. Have any videos covering bass processing?
yes czcams.com/video/suXj2OICbaA/video.htmlsi=ytXHrTW9J2_tSdz2
(it says house but it's applicable to any 👊)
wicked wicked. i like garage
You just make the best tutorials. Unbelievable.
Chord 4 definitely resolved the best despite the other options all being serviceable for the progression, I think the interplay between scale degrees and how well we can traverse them is what brings out the best chord progressions.
Correct 4th gave me a nice feel.
Hey i love your Videos ✌🏼
Could you do one on drum and bass? Especially on the drum part of dnb. 😁
Thanks
Absolutely number 2
I LOVE THIS GUY!
1 or 4 for me 2 and 3 didnt feel right wonderful video and subscribed
Wow...great work and thank you. Appreciated. ❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦❤
Just started video and chord 1 was my pick
Legend, feel like you've demystified a bit of that garage magic
None of the 'answer chords' resolved fully
I picked #2. Obviously it feels less settled than #4, but it keeps things vibing 🔥😁
I feel the third one is better in this particular case, but I understand your underlying question and agree with it.
I picked number 4, however, as a fan of dissonance I could imagine what chord I might borrow prior to/after in response to answer chord with the other choices. Great videos pal.
best vids by harmonic long shot!
#3 gets you some nice voice leading in the bass, sort of "unresolved" feeling, but the g# in the second question chord makes the harmony tricky with the bass motion
Oh boy that's cool! Now I'm curious about the melodic minor too, and whether it also has some use for garage / electronic styles?
I was expecting the same as the first chord from the progeession but with the bass rolling around root instead
Always feel like I actually learn something from your tutorials. Thank you. In one of the last ones you mention "reference... reference... reference". Is there any chance of a tutorial giving some pointers as to how, practically, you do that?
Yes I did a video
czcams.com/video/JdVP6RlTlnw/video.htmlsi=k-Tru6334FmHtTKt
More Garage pls :))
I need that UKG video!
I would totally pick number two and then modulate
I picked two, but I also don’t tend to feel three chord sequences as resolved, which is probably baggage from genres like ‘progressive’ (mainstage) house. I guess that’s why I’m watching a video about Garage production, always good to pull ideas from other genres.
So sick to see the Sammy Virji chords 😮
Definitely chord 1
Option 4 was voiced as a CM over A, which does form Am7. But I think it would have been more clearly the "best" resolution if it was a straight Am without the G in the DX keyboard.
I picked 2. That higher pitched resolution is nice.
I picked #3 it just sounded more smooth in melody transition.
i felt like number 3 resolved the best. especially in the framing of "question and answer". with the other choices the first two chords didn't really feel like a "question" to me to begin with.
i really liked option 3, but not as a resolve, but as the next step in the progression.
I like 3, but I think if you did two repetitions with 3 first and then 4 it’d work well
i cannot begin to tell you how many times ive used the VI-V-i progression, its just like, TOO GOOD (also i just remember lonyo - garage girls uses the same progression)
#2 caught my ear out of the first three but i liked #4 as well
Ofcource number 2 no doubts
#3 for sure
i think #2 because it’s a chord loop. #4 would work if you wanted to do a typical resolution. #1 would launch you into a new section or maybe could be a more interesting ending than #4. not a big fan of #3, but would serve a similar function to #1.
Yep second one is the best. 4th is ok, but second is just perfect
