  • In this week's video I am reviewing some of my Milwaukee M18 tools. I may do a follow up on the M12 tools and some of the other hand tools and accessories if people are interested - please let me know in the comments. The tools I am focussing on are those used for joinery/carpentry, as that is what I do for a living.

I'd love a follow up on the M12 tools. I've just built up a bit of a collection myself, as I see them as the perfect home/keen DIYer tools. I have the Impact Driver, Drill Driver with interchangeable heads (offset, right angle and standard chuck), circular saw, oscillating multi tool, rotary tool (so many uses for this one), SDS drill and have just added the little leaf blower. I'd love to see an M12 Fuel jigsaw (a few videos I've watched on the standard M12 one doesn't paint it in the best light).

I'd be interested in seeing how the M12 tools fare side by side against the M18 tools, especially if you can give a rough idea of the price difference. Dropping top dollar on M18 might be a bit too much for people, but if the M12 range still gives good performance for most DIY and beginning professionals, then that'd be useful to know.
Also, this video doesn't have any Dylan footage / photos in, so that's a definate area for improvement.

I don't know about the M12 tools (heard good things but never tried them) but I absolutely LOVE the bosch pro 12V line up. I find they're pretty much perfect for my use (beginner woodworker) and imo they are quite affordable for quality tools. I have a drill, an impact driver, the mini circular saw and the jig saw. Pretty sure I am also going to get the mini angle grinder and the multitool sometime this year. The milwaukee 12v lineup looks great too but they're just more expensive, at least where I am.

I’ve just recently bought the 10 inch miter saw from Screwfix and I really like it but was very disappointed to find that unlike the American model the UK version does NOT come equipped with the ‘shadow line’. I actually didn’t think the led lights were of much value. So I looked online, found a part number for the shadow line assembly and ordered it from the US, Alaska actually. It arrived in about 2 weeks and I fitted it to my saw. (A certain amount of disassembly is required including the motor but it’s easier than it looks at first) The wiring was already there, I disconnected the led lights and modified the plastic wire cover on the blade guard and now I have the proper shadow line and very pleased with the results.

Appreciated your candor. I've only used a few Milwaukee tools at a buddy's auto shop, but they all worked well. WatchJRGo also loves his cordless Milwaukee impact tools. Hi Keith, nice honest reviews. The graduations on the Milwaukee Palm Router are almost certainly for the US market. Metrication to them is the "work of the devil". 1/64" with one dot is likely to be 1/64", two dots 2/64" (1/32") and so on. Why so complicated is anyone's guess?

I'm about to build my own house and am currently debating which platform to standardise on as I have no interest in trying to buy batteries and chargers across multiple platforms. Hikoki? DeWalt? Milwaukee? All of them have their virtues. DeWalt seems to. be favoured by a lot of local contractors. Hikoki is cheaper. But now I'm thinking that Milwaukee may be the better choice. A very timely video for me! Thanks, Keith. Keep up the good work!

If you want a mitre saw with excellent dust extraction there is only 1 option Festool Kapex KS 120 reb I personally wouldn’t use any other mitre saw pair it with the stand and extension arms and Festool dust extraction nothing comes even close to be honest Milwaukee Dewalt Makita Bosch are much of the same it’s only when you bite the bullet and invest in Festool and Mafell you notice the difference in build quality and precision cheers

Hi John, I've never really tested battery life and number of cuts but if you check out the toolbox buzz channel, I'm pretty sure they did it in great detail. The Amazon is ridiculous at the moment, but most Amazon prices fluctuate all the time. It can be had for around £564 elsewhere online (without battery)

    1/64th is roughly 0.4mm.
    Each dot represents 1/64 deeper.
    Roughly;
    one dot = 0.4mm
    two dots = 0.8mm
    three dots = 1.2mm
    Four dots = 1.6mm
That is about as clear as I could make it.
There are three countries left in the world using Imperial. USA, Liberia and Myanmar. (Burma.) So as you can see, the market outside of the USA for tools using imperial is so vast they thought it best to leave the overseas market in Imperial.

I've got a strange feeling that milwaukee table saw has been made for them by dewalt as it looks soooooo similar.

They're different saws, although I think the fence is potentially the same. Toolbox buzz channel has a good comparison video

Unlikely as De Walt is owned by Stanley Black and Decker and Milwaukee by TTI who also make Ryobi.

It's cheaper if you shop around, Amazon prices fluctuate all the time. I can't really recommend any other tools as i haven't used them

Dewalt outbeats milwakee in most categories except that its louder but therefore more power. I've used both brands for a long time and still like Dewalt way more. Many features also are on most tools it's just older tools that you had previously that were weak (makita sander).

I find Keith that milwaukee tools look remarkably similar to other time served competitors ( Blue and Black ) ( Yellow and Black ), now what is it they say about imitation....... Hmmm!!!

They probably are. The Chinese copy things like that. Look at Banggood and you will see loads of Woodpecker and Incra knock-offs.
