I'm with you on tje miter saw Keith.
Mine went from a bench mount with wings to a flip top cart. I hardly ever use it. I think the last time was when I cut cove moulding for the kitchen ceiling a few years ago. I use an Incra miter gauge on the table saw for angle cuts and a jig I built for 45 deg corners and my results are way better.
    Happy Christmas from Central California!

A thought about your front soakaway, is it the soil above which is restricting drainage? You could dig a hole above the soakaway and fill it with gravel to give the water a path. The clay in your area can be a PITA with drainage!

We recommend Altro flooring in our commercial kitchen designs at my day job and I can say, while it won't hold up to knife marks, it will hold up too heat. We see hot oven racks coming straight out of a 260c degrees oven and rolling across it with no issues.

Suggestion from a guy much more amateur than you re: finding (and filling) your vertical backsplash holes: use blue tape first. It appears that the issue is that the vinyl hides your holes (low contrast). But drilling through a small square of blue tape should solve this problem.

    Hi Keith,
Since I got sliding table saw I dont care about miter saw. It is great "beginners" tool but as you've stated it is faster to use speed square and a circular saw.
Im currently in building my new house/workshop and I can relate to hard work of soakway. I have made all my drainage and sewage installation and at the end it get covered up but knowing that it has very important duty it makes that heart warming feeling and a sense of accomplishment. But, boy, is it hard work 😂
    Some cool tools by Milwaukee.

I got rid of my mitre saw some years ago, in practice it wasn’t that accurate took up loads of space and the dust extraction was poor. Using my Dewalt table saw and over the last few years track saw + MFT has changed my way of working. Please note I don’t do much wood based work any more as I use sheet material. Each to their own 😜 thanks for posting. Regards Mike

  • @JefferyHarrold

A tip I got years ago helped me get over my fear of using a router until I was more comfortable is as follows:
There's no such thing as overthinking safety when it comes to a router!
Do whatever you can to make sure it stays where it's supposed to be.
Be that clamping a rail in place when doing roundovers in case the bearing comes off, to stop it moving into the wood and catching.
To putting it in a router table with a fence and guide pin so you aren't resting on the actual bit in case you slip...you're more likely to move towards the greatest pressure point if your hand slips, so it's better if it's a static metal pin instead of a whirling blade of doom.

    • @deanlowther4020
      @deanlowther4020 Před 9 měsíci

and make sure you dont get pulled across the router table and take a chunk out of 1 finger drill a perfect 6 mm hole right through your fingernail!
I'm still not sure how it happened but its taken me nearly 20 years to get over it and i still over think safety
respect the tool dont fear it
