- Gooday and this week Aslan & I continue our journey northwards, along the Ashby Canal, where we left off last time.
A few miles later we arrive and moor up at Market Bosworth, where I take a stroll to buy some supplies, as well as a quick look around this histroric, picturesque and very original market town.
Moving off the next day, we begin the initial and final 7 miles or so, to the canal's terminus near Snarestone . . .

You are the one who got me started watching the narrow boating life. I remember when you first got Aslan and was cleaning her up to launch for the first time. You were living in your van while working on her. Launch day came and it was exciting watching her being launched into the canal off a long trailer bed. I have been to England several times but never knew about this kind of lifestyle occurring until I saw your channel. I find it so fascinating!
I get to see the country’s from another view. I love it! I have since watched other narrowboat channels, but yours will ALWAYS be my favorite! Thank you for letting me come along for the ride!
Kevin, thanks for another good cruising episode. I’m glad you got what you needed a cooperative in Market Bosworth. You’re right about how your perception of life changes as you get older. I was 75 last December 12, and believe that 100%. See you next time!

Keep that stiff upper lip Kevin! But those emotions mean you appreciate what life is really all about. How far you've changed/progressed since the beginning of the series. Glad you've found/created some good "headspace" for yourself that you were searching for. Maintaining some order in your life when all around you is chaos is no easy task. All the best.
Occasionally in times past you used to prepare a meal. I kinda miss that. It was a nice change of pace. Happy Birthday. 55 once seemed really "old" to me. I'm 86 now, and the 50's were "young" days.
Hello Harry. Unfortunately I had to stop putting cooking segments in the travel videos after season 6 as at least 75% of viewers used to skip them in the videos here on CZcams. I now do them as a seperate run between seasons of TBN.

Unfortunately my illness was a close call with the grim reaper. ☠
In Jan '21 owing to the restrictions in place at the time I was unable to see my doctor. This resulted in me catching a necrotising infection called Fournier's Gangrene to my gentleman's area! After many ops, skin grafts, stays in intensive care, catching covid twice, catching a disgusting bug called cdiff, and 6 months in hospital I pulled through.🎉
I found your vids very therapeutic and helpful.
Thank you again and keep on doing what you do.
I don't have bookface , twatter, or any other social media as in a previous job I witnessed often the damage that can be done.

My husband LOVED working with black-and-white film back in the days of SLRs. (Buying a roll of Tri-X at the local camera store was a treat!) Bill shot it, developed it, printed it, enlarged it. His forte was people photos. He could capture folks so well. Even strangers. They trusted him. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane--via Narrowboat--with the added treat of a cheery a-OOOOO-ga from Aslan when you approached that blind turn. Don't you wish they had them for life's own blind bends?! Hahaha!
Many thanks Pat. I know all too well the joy and attraction of shooting and processing B&W film. Before buying Aslan I had my own darkroom and would spend may weekends visiting towns and shooting street photography.

You were talking about how the older you get, the more you realize your mortality....I turned 66 on March 3rd, so it's not something I dwell on anymore. Every day is a blessing, and I'm grateful for whatever time I have left. I mean to enjoy myself as best I can. One of the ways is by watching your journeys. Thanks for the ride! See you next week.
Those emotions are growing empathy. I've experienced it too as I grow older. It's what the world needs more of, that tender connection to the rest of the human race and Life in general.

My wife and I both screamed “ WHO IS ASLAN!!” Causing my mother-in-law to spill her wine.

I'm glad that you started your channel even if they said you were mad! If your programme hadn't been on Amazon I wouldn't have found it here and that wouldn't do. There are a few other channels that I've followed since Travels by Narrowboat but there is none that I enjoy more than yours, although the others are great as well. This is the only one that I am chatting about with my family two days before a new episode.

This Longboat thing looks amazing. Here in Western Australia, we don't have anything like this.
The closest would be the Murray River in the east about 2500 kilometres long, plus off shoots. We have rivers up north of WA but there is a risk of getting eaten.

Amazing episode, thank you. I celebrated my 60th birthday on the Grand canal out of Leighton Buzzard 8 years ago September. Flew from North America to England just for a week on the canals and loved every minute of the trip! You're right about the emotions increasing as we age, I still remember my father tearing up during the national anthem at a ball game and now experience the same feelings in my old(ish) age. Cheers!

I always admired UK for preservation of it's countryside and it's old buildings, and ,sadly, it's getting into a terrible state, here, in Kentucky, as it's being engulfed with new townhouses, condominiums, apartment complexes and residential developments. It's growing so fast in some areas, that beautiful farms are being gobbled up at a rapid pace, top soil bulldozed, trees dessimated, as the beautiful pastoral settings are turning into traffic nightmares.
I completely agree Sharon. The confusing part for me is that in the next breath, the powers-that-be harp on about the environment. :|

Great bit of canal kayaked last year didn't have ice cream but seen the old vintage campervan rather cool looking eh and the barge gothic Looking wigh it's coffin on top we've spoken to the owners briefly.
Did you pass the really old sunken barges must be some of the oldest in the canal along that stretch..unsalvageable though..😮
