Even more distinctly British than Kinks. That says a lot. Massively underappreciated. The style always matched the intensity of their sound. Their influence entered the creative minds of Noel Gallagher, Graham Coxon, Bernard Butler and countless others who themselves forged a new musical landscape in British rock.
After the fabulous Beatles, my second favourite band of that era.....just brilliant musicians, songwriters and self- producers. Great rhythm section of Lane and Jones, pianist and Hammond B3 player Ian McLagan and the showman supreme Steve Marriott on vocals and guitarists...always loved this ensemble.
And so am I. I think there are more of us out there than we realize. Its just sad that no one could save him from himself - a tragedy, a tragic accident. But he did have charisma. Infactuated with him.
Always enjoy hearing everyone involved speak about how the band formed, the tribulations. Steve's mum is interesting to listen to as well as the others. Talented boys grew up and very underrated.
Sounds even better now
What a band!

Is there a financial reward available for those who use the words "underrated" or "underappreciated"? I see them used so many times I begin to wonder.
Awe ronnie, ian and steve, god bless em.
The band made alot of people happy

A truly great group. The originators of Power-Pop, fused with Soul and R&B.
Marriot....so underrated and UNDER appreciated.....One of rock's greatest vocalists...

After all these years, I'm still in love with Steve Marriott.

@@bethh.9647 Same here....infatuated. Besides his incredible talent, there was just something special about him.
Me too! And we're coming into the 6th decade after! ❤️

It is important that these exist.....
This music certainly brings back fond memories of a truly magical time.
Brilliant band
Mac is so self effacing but without him the small faces and then the faces would not have had that sound.
Had the pleasure of meeting him in 2008 and 2001 I. Small gigs with his Bump Band, playing in Sheffield. He was such a gent. RIP Ian
FANTASTIC KEYBOARD PLAYER
A HUGE PART OF THIER SOUND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go back and listen to Ogden's Nut Gone Flake and you will hear one of the most iconic drum kits in all of rock and roll.

Wow! My fav. Show.
So true, "the soul boy (girl) always stays, just changes a bit". Inciteful true. Can always hear it, or not hear it. Immediately.
