I just started listening to his music in 1970 and a friend was explaining to me how Jim Morrison is the best writer and how he loved his music. Then a year later we heard that he died. What a tragedy to the music scene that was. The friend I'm referring to has also died of a drug overdose last year and I just found out 4 days ago. Thank you, Mark Morris, for introducing me to some great music. RIP my childhood friend 🤗

According to Jim’s brother in law he was impotent the last 3yrs of his life because of alcoholism and that’s why he started to take the china white so he could rise to the occasion. He became extremely depressed. I think he started to miss home. I believe this documentary to be a true account. Okay here is the truth of how I got to meet Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. I live on the East Coast of America in the Delaware River Valley region, the Delaware river is between Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and my ancestral home. So I heard on the radio in 2007 that the Doors were to receive their Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame while I was on the East Coast. I called Leon Hendrix (Jimi's younger brother) to let him know I'd be coming to Los Angeles and was going to see the Doors Star ceremony. So after we had lunch at "Musso & Frank Grill" we went. And while the ceremony was getting more and more crowded, Leon and I went across the street to the Roosevelt Hotel to have a seat and drink at the "Cinegrill" inside of the Roosevelt Hotel. We could see through the window the affair was winding down and a number of people were coming over to the Roosevelt Hotel. Prior to going into the Cinegrill Leon and I walked to the back pool area of the Roosevelt Hotel and we noticed that there was a get together event being held for the Doors on the ground floor in one of the ballrooms inside the Roosevelt. As the Star laying ceremony broke up a number of people were walking into the Roosevelt. So we wondered if we could get in this after event and got in line. Now just when Leon and I got up to the young lady holding the clipboard with the names of the invited guest Robby Krieger walked up and saw Leon and said "Hey Leon nice to see you do you want to join us" just like that we were inside beyond the "velvet rope". I spoke with Ray Manzarek. I told him about my summers of '66 & '67 at the New Jersey shore at the town of Seaside and about the coaster ride "the Swiss Bob" on the Seaside, NJ boardwalk and about the operator of this coaster ride only played the long version of "Light My Fire" during the ride. And told Ray about how it was for me being on that coaster ride with the beat of John Densmore and his, Ray's, carnival like keyboards of "Light My Fire" coursing through my mind at that time. It reminded me of a book I read a few years earlier in 1964 by Ray Bradbury called "Something Wicked This Way Comes". You can catch the gist of the story in this Wikipedia page: "A carnival comes to town. In dealing with the creepy figures of this carnival, the boys learn how to combat fear. The carnival's leader is the mysterious "Mr. Dark", who seemingly wields the power to grant the citizenry's secret desires." In the summer of '67 again back at Seaside Beach and I just got out the movie theater after seeing "The Dirty Dozen" and I'm up on the boardwalk right near where Maruca's Tomato Pies (Maruca’s Pizza) was originally located (on September 12, 2013 that portion of the Seaside Boardwalk was destroyed in a massive fire) and I put $0.25 down on one of the "try your luck spin the wheel" stands and it landed on the one and only spot on the wheel where you got the choice of any thing and I took the sunburst electric guitar made in Japan that was a copy of a Fender Stratocaster. I still play guitar today and have quite a few but I should have kept that $0.25 Japanese Fender copy. It actually wasn't too bad. I have photos of Leon Hendrix and Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger and I at the Roosevelt Hotel. On October 27, 1997 Robby and his son Oakley Krieger were playing for a Muscular Dystrophy benefit at the club "Tramps" on 51 West 21st Street, Manhattan, New York City. And John Densmore was there but I didn't speak with John I wished I had but it looked to me he just wanted to be left alone so we just stood in the wings of the staged and watched the show. My buddy Scott Simon from Yardley, Pennsylvania was filling in for the keyboard player in the Blue Oyster Cult that night. Ray Manzerek was to ill to play. But Ray has also jammed with BOC in the past as well as Robby who has done at least a good handful of times.

Good documentary - Thanks for uploading it. This should quash all the rumors that Jim Morrison faked his death and planned to disappear. How could he, when his body and his health were in such bad shape from all the alcohol abuse and drugs. The Doors were a great '60's rock group - would have liked it if the makers of this film had also included interviews with Robby Kruger and Ray Manzarek. Morrison was a handsome guy - too bad he wasted his good looks on alcohol and drugs which made him paunchy.
