What Is The BEST MUSIC for a Psychedelic Ceremony? with East Forest & Jon Hopkins | Aubrey Marcus

- Jon Hopkins and East Forest are the uncrowned kings of a new music genre specifically intended for ceremonial guidance. Fresh off an epic ceremony concert in Austin, we discuss how music is a technology that is intrinsic to creating an optimal psychedelic ceremony. This goes back to the early days of the icaros and medicine songs of the elders, and has now been translated with mastery into the digital era. We get into the nitty gritty of what this music is offering to the collective in a time it's most desperately needed, and we also look ahead to the potential advancements that can come to this art form. Jon shares his DMT experiences that influenced the making of his "Music For Psychedelic Therapy" and all of the seen and unseen help we have when we bring our creations into the world. The music they've created have been invaluable resources for my journeys. They are true masters at their craft and I highly encourage all of you to check out their work.

This isn’t just music. It is an experience. Atmos, lossless, good headphones and a blindfold. Unbelievable.
Destroyed me then bathed me in love...
Which album or songs should I start off with? Ty
@@dannypacini9820 Both are great but I prefer Jon Hopkins’ album “Music for psychedelic therapy”. Play it from the beginning.
@@strophish will do ! Had a brief listen and I know I will definitely enjoy. Any other albums from Hopkins or East Forest you recommend?
What is atmos?
I cry during Arriving every time and after, I am reborn. Thank you, Jon
This is pretty much exactly what I'm going through right now except without psychedelics. A massive release of trauma with a staccato of climactic internal breakthroughs. Best and worst time of my life by far on both ends.
You're definitively not alone!
amen
You said it perfectly, best and worst time of my life.
Wow Jon Hopkins and Aubrey Marcus, the collab I never expected but I'm DYING TO WATCH AND HEAR
me tooo
This podcast definitely resonates w/ me. Aspiring musician who needs motivation. And this might’ve just done it. Thank you guys 🙏 peace, love, ‘n’ light to ALL
This album has been on repeat for me since October and Sitting Around the Fire makes me tear up and sometimes DEEP cries. I love this conversation and everyone involved in loving this art. So freakin amazing.
What jon Hopkins shared about his DMT experience is very powerful, you're a pure gentle soul ,i can see that in your music and your words, forever you're my best inspiration in life, sarina from Sydney and I'm so happy i met you in person even for a few seconds, i love you so much, thank you for everything you have done
Omg no way?! My favorite people!!
Love East Forset's music. I Listen all the time. Can't wait for east forest to come to Utah again.
I love hearing about how the magic was woven into the creation of these energetic transmissions. Musiiiiic. 🎶✨🙏💫❤️
This collab is everything 🙌🏼
One of my Fav Convos so far.
Thank you. 🙏🏼💚🍃
Thank you for sharing this. So fascinating
Loved it, thanks guys 😎🍄🤙
My favorite is instrumental jam rock, improve jazz, classic psych rock, native& cultural music. Love east forests work with RamDass
Appreciate all the work you do Aubrey, thank you!
Have you thought about getting Paul Stamets on the show, I think that would be an amazing conversation!
I think this is why I've always loved tool so much. Their songs are very very similar to the way I psychedelic experience builds, peaks, plateaus, and fades out. Of course, not all in the same exact order but in a general way. Also, I always loved at the level in which tool takes something beautiful but is able to show the intensity of that beautiful thing as well. Whereas most psychedelic music back in the day was either just super weird or just super fantasy. Happy. And being so giddy and upbeat does not realistically represent the journey that most people take. Sometimes it does. But I have to say that the intensity of it being that it is a holy s*** this is realer than real situation is important to demonstrate. Which tool does an amazing job at
Oh man I wish I could have been at that ceremony with all of you. Absolutely my three favorite people creating content & music right now. You are doing some absolutely powerful work to bring ceremony to the public eye.
🙏🫀🌍
Finding Emancipator changed my life.
Big fan of jon!!
Before watching podcast I can safely say that Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 1-4" should be the winner.
Or this czcams.com/video/BM6Y43unQzg/video.html
I have yet to try Jon Hopkins new album though.
OMGGG YOU BROUGHT THEM ON!
AHAHAH Jag ser dig överallt! Hur sjukt är det inte att du också lyssnar på Jon Hopkins, det är min favoritartist
@@davidwillebrand1000 Hahahahha fan vad sjuuukt! Hur många gånger har vi "stött på varandra" nu egentligen!! Meant to be-kind of stuff!
Så coolt att du älskar honom med. RIKTIG artist alltså.. Rekommenderar East Forest sååå mycket med.
Låten Always och hans Ram Dass-album är mina favoriter, kanske med någon låt till här och där!
Are you my long lost brother!??!
This sounds like it was absolutely amazing. I would have loved to share space with the 3 of you and all the souls that were present. Much love and gratitude for the work you are all doing and what you are bringing in to the conscious collective awareness.
Before MFPT was released, there was an excerpt on CZcams. I knew already that this was going to be a special album.
Thank you, Jon.
Not familiar with Eat Forest but Jon is a musical genoius. Was so happy to see him sitting with Aubrey and discussing this performance. I sure hope these type of performances become widespread.
I’m with ya. He’s a genius and a very humble creator. Let’s get more live shows!
Love you love you love you from Australia
I could listen to this guys f o r e v e r - Gracias!
Check out JUNXPUNX (pre 2015), Dark whisper (first 2 albums),Psykovsky,Ajja,Atriohm,Transdimensional Entities,Calyptratus,Yaminahua,Kindzaza imho its music especially for said ceremonys.
I was lucky enough to witness Jon at Low End Theory and yeah. If people werent aware of that club in LA it was the mecca of music as a whole for quite a while. So many acts who are grammy winners now started out at Low End Theory. It was our church.
The best music is nature - cicadas, crickets, frogs, and birds.
You obviously haven’t heard these albums. 😜
I still like to put on The Wall on vinyl.... It's one of my favorites.
17:10 Very difficult for me to concentrate at work without this music in my headphones.
Clozee for the adventurous mushroom trip :)
Know it. Love it. ❤️
Yes! Absolutely! Koto is still my favorite by her.
@@macromicrodragon nice ya I found out from Neon Jungle and I think that has been my favorite but it's all really good :)
Clozee is dope. Digging on Polish Ambassador as well. There's some interesting genre mashing stuff happening now.
shpongle adds some dimension as well
That was interesting how Aubrey casually mentions that he was addicted to Xanax…that’s a nasty drug to get off once dependant. Would love to hear more about that experience in itself from him! Love this talk btw!
wave is what something does, sound and light is vibration of the ether
I’ve created some great tracks for psych therapy that I’m happy to share 🤙🏼
Aleksi Perala's Colundi Sequences. Specifically Sequence 13.
JOHN DENVER LIVE AT THE APOLLO , WHILE ON MUSHROOMS WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
Would like to hear more of Radha's experience too. Inquiring about the representative of the hidden unconsciousness at this time - present but still separate
Dudes face is melting😮😂🎉
Wavepaths has been beautifully helpful for me. I believe these artists are both featured with wavepaths as well.
This isn't music. This is the sound of the universe breathing.
😻

Motown and classical music.
I have used dance music and electronic music in general to heal, remember and evolve my soul. I love all types of music but electronic is by far the most in depth as it is frequency based music. Since we ourselves are frequency based this is just logic. I was the first person in Canada to create a rave back in 1989, I knew then what I know now. Get people away from alcohol and give them access to good clean drugs like MDMA or LSD and boom, you wake them up IF the music is right. NOT all DJ's play conscious music, and the ones who push the "god is a dj" nonsense can never deliver the power an unconscious dj can create with the right records. My entire awakening began on a dance floor and like thousands of years ago my soul's work in this life was to bring the spirit of dance to humans in a clean controlled way. In 1995 the entire scene in Montreal turned on me and made me out to be their enemy, as they can not make money off of people waking up and becoming conscious on a dance floor. I still use music today as a way to wake people up, and my entire record collection is designed for that purpose. Many electronic music producers turned their back on the spiritual aspect of rave culture, and sadly most who were there think it all was just a "cool" drug trip. Those were the ravers on coke and bad drugs & alcohol...
22:00 1:24:00 parallel to Astroworld controversy? JAT
I feel as though Jon's purpose from his friends DMT Trip was to help other son their journey to consciousness. I can say I am one of those people.
sufjan stevens music is awesome in ceremony
Sumatra, Indonesia ;)
I'm a long-time fan of Jon's music, but calling this a "new music genre" is incredibly inaccurate and disrespectful.
People have been making electronic music for psychedelic ceremonies and gathering to listen to it since at least the 90s.
Just because it's the hip thing now and is being appropriated for a mainstream audience does not mean it's new in any shape or form.
maybe they refereed to having one artistic voice, one world for an hour with the purpose of mind exploring, or do you know more stuff like that would love to know more
Hey Aubrey,
Huge fan here. I’m wondering if you can do an episode of your podcast on schizophrenia and any healing modalities. I have a brother that is a schizophrenic. It seems to run in my family. I also wonder if it’s possible to get it thru psychedelic experiences such as ayahuasca, mushrooms, and even a synthetic psychedelic like LSD
That would be so interesting, my brother also has the same illness. I hope your bro is doing okay. It’s not easy poor guys. I’ve done ayahuasca before and it’s been amazing.
The podcast Awake Aware Alive, has an episode with Jacod Reid called 'Sacredphrenia' and talks about a different perspective on schizophrenia.
Worth a listen
Bob Marley 🎶

“John Hopkins Bahh Haaa”!😅 I thought he was talking about the Hospital 😉
EDM- I go tribal and dance my ass off! Its the only music for me.
Gotta have Shiva on here!!!
I remember hearing some psychedelic trance. It was too real.
Awful music. Cold, electronic, soulless. Though the so called open minded psychedelic community cling to it like a straight jacket.
@@jimjiminyjaroo300 I wish I was as open minded as you 😂
I’m giving it a Go . Although, feeling pretty certain I gotta Agree with U ☺️
@@jimjiminyjaroo300 I agree not most isn’t good but there’s some good tracks.
Spidey senses tingling.
I love playful shamans ❤️ they walk around being our demons boogie man 🤣
Truly if i wasn't me i wanna be Diogenes
I can highly recommend this album for any explorations into the psyche: czcams.com/video/kP-Xhu-T4qY/video.html or anything with handpan and solfeggio, or Mei Ian who is a youtuber that does sound healing / channeling... Just otherworldly sounds.
:)
Yep. Amazing stuff, amazing men.
But. Big but, you are not 100% full sincere ( yet ) with yourself.
The "ego" isn't necessary for you to be alive, to be creative, to do what you do and whatnot.
It isn't an entity, not a "being".
You cannot "befriend" "it".
The whole point of being alive as a human Being is to taste the play/Leela of duality, seeming separation, and to transcend the false self, that isn't even real.
Dive deeper and deeper into That Love, of which you are.
When the ego chatter and narratives calm down, and you find that " Oh my, I am the Witness, beyond quality, beyond time and space, and the observer of life, and yet also the witness of life", you realize that there is no ego, there is no "person". It is just a belief, hardwired into the nervous/energy system. This is the original trauma, that again - is to be transcended.
Joy riding with the ego simply doesn't cut it. It is a limitation and will remain as such, and cause you/others/all of us endless arisings of suffering, until we are ready to remain in the Beyond "state", which is not a state, but before all states.
Some daily self inquiry, non duality from various resonating teachers, the real deal one's of course, should quickly bring you to this "realization" that "you" are tricking yourself, just like everyone (almost) is, including myself in my own way yet. The fluctuating between presence and the seeming-person is on going thus far.
Love you guys. Om Shanti.
See it is interesting because you guys for example have another video up about how to heal the collective. Yet one can not heal the collective if one takes no responsibility, no action and no desire to protect and nurture the real truth. If we as a collective claim it is perfectly fine to allow a darkness to dominate our musical culture then that darkness will dominate us as well. Music is programming, it is not just entertainment, it is also memory and influence. Our society mistakes true freedom for chaos, this is why free speech is more like an abomination to knowledge than it is anything good. Logic and free speech as chaos do not blend, you can not claim 1 is 2 when 1 is just 1 yet our current form of free speech allows this form of misinformation, it worships it. Just as dance culture allows alcohol sales, cocaine and the concept of excess to dominate its culture. We will never evolve this way as a collective into anything higher than what we are right now as long as we chose to accept and act this way.
If you want to know what a mind fuck the electronic music scene is be aware that my art and its message was the ONLY one not welcome at BurningMan. A friend met the organizers in the late 1990's and told them about my art and its messages and they responded with "Tell him he is not welcome here!".. Meanwhile my art can help you figure out things that could have taken you lifetimes to come to know and many people who have seen my art claim they saw God while witnessing it. This is because I use math and cosmic intention when creating these works. I myself have had incredible experiences with them. If people knew just how controlled the electronic music scene is and how most of these producers care only about money and quantity when it comes to attendance I wonder if they would still support them. BurningMan loves you acting like a freak, but they don't want you knowing the real truth, that I know for sure. I could write a huge book about this bullshit. I grew up in dance culture, I was 12 when I first walked into a club.
Ketamine what the hell 😂
Jon, I love you man but don't join the Aubrey Marcus "conspirituality" circles. Everything this guy says requires a citation.
