Re: Zero is one of the most interesting isekai anime that has come out in the past few years. The story revolves around Natsuki Subaru being transported from Earth to a new world and he is granted one simple power: "Return By Death". Subaru must use this newfound power to save those he cares about, such as Emilia, Rem, Ram, Petra, Otto and Garfiel and more.
Who is Satella and why did she grant subaru this power? What is the motivation behind the witch cult which have members such as Petelguese the sin archbishop of sloth? These are some of the questions I'll tackle on this channel, I hope you enjoy it and most importantly also enjoy season 1 and season 2 of Re: zero and hopefully it does well enough to warrant a third season covering arc 5 (Season 3 re: zero).

I liked how Subaru literally goes color blind in Wrath IF due to his distrust in people. It would be really interesting to see this part animated.
Remember how in arc 2 after Rem kills him and he gets back we see his vision distorting colors? Until Wrath if gets animated that's probably as much as we'll get

I think that the wrath IF is really underrated simply because Subaru is considered "pathetic" for many people, it's the same for gread IF too, however funny enough in all of the IF stories Subaru was the main cause of everything, his not being manipulated nor is he being guided, tappei will never give him that preverlge
I think that wrath IF speaks volume of what Subaru is capable of, if he really wished for it he can be the worst enemy anyone can imagine
Also wrath IF is beatifuly connected to the "wrath" the twins had , rem and ram served different purpose, while rem wanted to live for her sister sake ram wanted to live for Rosewall, due to trauma they shunned everyone and closed their hearts, when they leashed their anger on Subaru and showed how their rage had blind them they basically chose wrath over patience, by doing so
They effected Subaru he was forced to chose, either follow the same path as them or chose to be patient and wait to know what exactly happened,both choices came with sacrifice but the IF stories clearly shows which was the least desirable one
Is it only me that who thinks Zarestia and Wrath If have some similarities within it?
Purge King Subaru was basically Zarestia but cunning and sanely insane.
Meanwhile, Zarestia is hinted to go insane after she was betrayed by the people she loved and trusted the most after the accidental burning of the village event.
This looks similar to Subaru loosing trust.
@@konoveldorada5990 Yeah I think that wrath Subaru , Zarestia and Rem share the same deep trauma which lead them to a dark path which is the wrath path, Zarestia was betrayed and so she was so mad at people that she only desired to kill them, leading her to a never ending path of hate and rage
For rem she suffered because of the witch cult, she was so traumatized by what happened to the point this hate and rage never really faded away, and rather than being patient when dealing with Subaru she acted upon her wrath and inflicted it on someone else
Lastly Subaru who inflicted his hate, frustration and anger on the world leading it to a never ending cycle of wrath, the path of virtue is not easy, Subaru choice to help rem and ram and of course forgive them is not easy at all,it was much more easier if he chooses to hate them yet he wanted to understand them more and help them

And so, Subaru had decided on a way to simplify human relationships.

And so, with that, even if all human beings detested Subaru, a world devoid of problems would be established.
Every human, no matter who, possessed a weakness. Family, a lover, wealth, dreams, hope. Because of that――
Subaru: “――If only the weaknesses of every human being in the world could be grasped.”
Then, only then, Subaru would not have to doubt anyone.
In a black and white world, in a world lacking any hues which could not be trusted, feeding on loathing, he could live comfortably.
Subaru: “――――”
With Subaru, aiding in his escape, was Halibel.
To Subaru, Halibel’s figure did not look to be their true form―― his appearance appeared monochrome. He looked to be in only two colors, white and black.
Subaru: “――――”
Appearing in monochrome like that was not restricted to just Halibel.
Right now, the world as it appeared to Subaru had, without exception, lost its colors and changed to possess but two.
People, objects, paintings, tools, jewelry, Magic Stones, fresh blood, water, all were black and white.
Blood and water seemed no different from one another, soup and poison also were not distinguishable.
Everything was monochrome. Black and white.
In such a world, that which looked colorful to Subaru amounted to only a few.
That only those were real, Subaru believed so.
Everything else was fake, Subaru believed so.
Beatrice had been so.
Emilia was so.
Beyond that, there was only one.
Anyway, Subaru could not believe in anyone else.
Everything else other than them, it truly looked faded.
Those fakers could not, only those real articles.
The qualifications to decide whether Natsuki Subaru should live or die were held only by them, only those real articles.
Subaru: “…I had a tad of expectations from Reinhardt.”
Perhaps those from before those days―― in truth, he had expected those he had been involved with before the event that had triggered the loss of color would have remained without those colors fading.
However, he had appeared to Subaru just as monochrome as someone he had just met for the first time. Such expectations had been fleeting, and so Reinhardt, despite how vivid he had seemed, now appeared as an ashen mass to Subaru. It looked dirty.
In the end, Reinhardt was also a child of man.
There was no doubt that he too would continuously lie while living. That was all there was to it.
???: “Master――!”
As Subaru and Halibel ran through the castle, a sudden loud voice called out to them, intersecting them.
What could be seen dashing from the other side of the corridor towards them, was the long-haired, long in body maid Frederica. Though hard to discern her colors, that face’s potent impression was easy enough to remember.
Subaru had secretly found Frederica to his liking. And so――
Frederica: “Prepare yourself―― Shh!”
She, rushing in and making an attempt on his life and shouting both in a disciplined manner, appeared to be of a lovable nature to him.
Of course, those actions from Frederica would not be tolerated by the eyes of Kararagi’s strongest.
Frederica “Ah, ugh!”
The dagger in her hand being taken away, Frederica had been pushed up against the wall, her arm pinned. At Halibel, performer of these actions, Frederica could only turn back her head,
Frederica: “Why are you doing this, Halibel-sama? Now, by taking advantage of this turmoil, that man…!”
Halibel: “Ya could kill him. I understand why ya’d think so. Ya children whose weaknesses’ve been grasped, y’all desire for freedom with Su-san’s death. I know, but.”
There, Halibel opened his narrowed eyes, and glared at Frederica. Being bathed in the light of those eyes, from Frederica’s thin throat a quiet sound was produced.
Halibel: “Unfortunately, I don’t follow boss because of my weaknesses. To pay back Su-san’s kindness, that’s why I serve him.”
Frederica: “A kindness!? From this man, kindness? Stop playing around…!”
Held tight against the wall, with bloodshot eyes Frederica looked fiercely at Subaru. Those already sharp fangs grew, and those thin feminine fingers, began transforming into a thick, strong and beast-like state.
Frederica: “No matter what… Hk!?”
Halibel: “Su-san?”
Next to Frederica, fervent, her body distorted, Subaru had at some point come to stand.
Frederica widened her eyes while Halibel called out to him, but Subaru did not pause. Like that, Frederica desperately raised her arm, and grazed Subaru’s neck.
At that moment, the scarf wrapped around his throat came undone and fell to the floor――
Frederica: “――Hii.”
Frederica, seeing it, from deep in her throat made a sound.
Halibel, too, seeing that for the first time, revealed a faint surprise.
――On Natsuki Subaru’s neck, clearly remained marks shaped like fingers.
Subaru: “It won’t do, Frederica. I won’t allow that black-and-white you to kill me.”
Frederica: “――――”
At that frozen Frederica, Subaru drew his face close and asserted with certainty.
Perhaps, he had hoped that Frederica may have had some color. Nevertheless, even at this crucial moment, Frederica had remained in black and white.
Subaru: “Halibel-san… Take Frederica, and let her get away.”
Halibel: “…Su-san. The insider that dragged in the Sword Saint’s prolly――”
Subaru: “I know.”
Gazing at that Frederica unable to move an inch, Subaru cut off Halibel’s words.
Even without it being said, he understood. It was comprehensible that Frederica had secretly done such things, her emotions, given the extremes of her treatment, were capable of being understood.
――Nay, it was not limited to just Frederica. If not her, that someone else would have done. That it would only be her had been a miscalculation.
Subaru: “You don’t have to come back, Halibel-san. I’ll go settle things, in my own way.”
Halibel: “――――”
Subaru: “If you wanna return my kindness, that’ll be enough. In the first place, you got no reason to feel gratitude… I was just being cunning, after all.”
Shaking his head, Subaru smiled lightly at Halibel.
Halibel had, perhaps, regarded Subaru as someone who cared for him. Nevertheless, from Halibel he could not see any color either.
Perhaps, once the color was lost, it would never be restored.
It was because Subaru had lost the right to believe in something.
So was it that not one thing in the world would be colored for Subaru forevermore?
If so, that which was there to cling onto, was only――
Halibel: “With Su-san, I had wanted to be proper friends.”
Subaru: “…If I hadn’t run away, that might have been.”
Accepting Subaru’s intentions, Halibel, with those short words, simply said farewell.
And now, in the timeline where Subaru didn't run away, Subaru and Halibel befriend each other. Tappei is good at foreshadowing.
Idk how halibel and Subaru met eachother in wrath if .but in wrath if even halibel act as subordinate of Subaru and did so many evil things
But he prove himself as Subaru's Ally
That proves he is best boi sorry best dog in Rezero
Not only in wrath if ,but also in sloth if hailbel , he acts as trusted neighbour for rem and Subaru . He prove himself in tia threat on rem and he became god father for rigel and spica

The " Wrath if " path remains me of what the DC Joker's multiverse origin is, to become insane all you need is one bad day. Or one bad " Return by death".
Envy Subaru is the only one with special power and yet they have in multiple occasions forced Reinhardt to draw his sword and get away with it.
They all have special powers, greed have all the authorities, wrath has most of them if not all, pride too. Gluttony is on his way to, only sloth doesnt

To be fair, I'd not trust someone who killed me out of baseless suspicious. That's why I don't find Rem truly redeemed and deserved Subaru.

Pride if Subaru burned the capital that has over 300k people
and Gluttony if Subaru drowned the entire Priestella city it should be comparable to the capital in population
How Subaru is just one choice away from diverging into these routes and doing what he does really is crazy. Since the mainline envy route is supposed to be more difficult than the other if routes, makes me wonder whats going to happend there. But the if routes themselves really are interesting hopefully someday in the far future we can get them as an ova or something.
Philosophers like Nietzsche said that one bad day can make any man do unspeakable actions. The question is, would it change one permanently? Most would say that it has not changed the nature of the man. This is still debatable.

also, the purge king is described to be almost skeleton even though he would be given nutritious, taste tested food for two people regularly at his room.

Pride IF Subaru is arguably as bad as Wrath IF Subaru. He burned down the whole country and killed so many people and did so many atrocities. He is as dangerous as The Purge King. Both are versions you never want to encounter.
I think the difference between them is that Pridebaru had a goal and all that killing was for a cause.
Wrathbaru didn’t had a goal. He just kept existing. He was a drowning man and he kept dragging other people with him.

Although Wrathbaru could be most evil person. I’m most scared of Greedbaru. He is the most inhumane one. Wrathbaru represented weakness of a men while Greedbaru showed the dedication of a men.
Wrathbaru was a drowning man who kept dragging others with him. He was a broken man. Mean while Greedbaru choosed all this himself. With the addition of Greed IF LN we saw that Subaru knew what he was doing. Echidna didn’t even need to manipulate him to reset because Subaru personally goes out of his way to reset. Subaru even suprised Echidna in many occasions just by resetting because even she thought the resets were unnecessary.
The point is Greedbaru is the epitome of monstrosity and inhumanity. He is an incomprehensible monster.
While I pitied Wrathbaru’s existence, I was simply terrified and disgusted by Greedbaru’s existence. Although Greedbaru never meant any harm to those he loved, he was the cancer that poisoned them all.
I’m finishing this rant with Clind’s last words before Greedbaru killed him.
“I should’ve not only be aware of the witch but rather you, Evil!”
I was confused by what clind meant at the beginning since for all what we know, Clind witness even sattela rampage so saying something like " through the 400 years of existence I never encountered such a twisted being" is really confusing
Since all of the witches including echidna were doing horrible things to this world so why is Subaru the most twisted?
But then I remembered, all of the witches didn't choose to be "that" way, in fact if you think about it RBD is not in authority that works all of the times like the other witches or sin archipiship,it only active when it's needed
Subaru chose this hell, he chose this outcome,he doesn't save people lives because he understands it's Value, his only doing it because of his obsession with "perfection" and him willing to save everyone
All of the other witches will never do what Subaru does, he uses people's love, devotion, loyalty, safety, justice and knowledge to get the results that he wants, going against all of the other witches ideology and beliefs, making him the ultimate incomprehensible being

I don't quite remember this detail, unfortunately it wasn't until recently when we finally got one chapter translated from the greed LN, so I don't remember that but if this was the case then indeed it will be terrifying to see Subaru soul, I mean od Laguna might be few thousand years old, Subaru will reach millions before Emilia becomes a king 🤣

Meh, Wrathbaru is the most crafty and cool one. Pridebaru is the most menacing. Becoming a killswitch robot doesn't exactly scream appealing.

I say Pride If is also as evil, if not more evil. I mean he killed a bunch of people and burned down the kingdom even though he knows it is wrong. He exploited people, would kill anyone standing in his way, and sacrificed anything (even himself) for his goal. He was insane, he even admitted it himself. He knows that the things he did will never make Emilia happy, yet he did it anyway.
I've read in the author's qna that the Sin Archbishops are irredeemable and according to Subaru, they are beyond comprehension and unemphatizable. In the pride if route, Subaru said in the end that he is an unemphatizable madman. This made me realize that Subaru truly deserves the title of Sin Archbishop, with all of his atrocities he is truly irredeemable and beyond comprehension.
I will say now that the Wrath trio is almost in the main story I am kind of hyped. I like the wrath if main because of Subaru, Cecilus, and Halibel, the two knew Subaru was a evil man but still stuck with him even though they both could have killed him. I want them to join the camp so bad, and now that they are in the same place I really hope tappi doesn’t blue ball us and not make these two permanent allies of Subaru. We saw what happeneds with these three when Subaru is straight up insane and we get to see how well they work with our boy when he still has his humanity. These three are going to be the main reason why I am going to love arc 8.
If all three are allies then I guess the enemy should be worthy.
I believe Cecilus and Halibel gonna have sone fight rather than team killing the enemy.
@@konoveldorada5990 well depending on the situation Cecilus would even betray Vincent to achieve his goal of being the strongest swordsman in the world. This is clear in the wrath if when he betrayed Vincent and join Subaru and knowing what Subaru promised to Cecilus stating that he would make him his subordinate I think Subaru will have to find a way to make Cecilus be part of his team.

I know that in the wrath if Subaru promises to give him a rematch with Reinhard. I am just saying maybe Cecilus might see Subaru as not only his big ticket to fighting Reinhard again but to all achieve his end goal of being the strongest swordsman.

I don't know about that. It isn't in Subaru's nature to hurt or betray his friends (even if pretending). It's similar to how some people were theorizing in arc 6 that Subaru has pulled out a light yagami on memory loss

When i think back to anime arc4 and the words Garfield and Emilia said in the possible futures and the fact more and more people are becoming suspicious of Subaru I think my theory could happen.
I have to disagree, I think Archbishop Subaru is Eviler then Purge King Subaru.
Pridebaru’s kill count is likely in the millions. Sometimes people forget is he didn’t just burn down the capital of Lugunica, but the whole kingdom, a kingdom with a population of 50 million, so if around 1/4 of the population died that 12.5 million dead, not to mention the after effects of the mass starvation, disease, chaos and banditry or the likelihood that it spread to other nations and the people who would die from one of the four major nations collapsing.
This may be true, but canonically, the most evil characters are the Unholy Princess Sin Archbishop of Lust Capella Emerada Lugunica & Pandora, the Witch of Vainglory.
Pridebaru should have a higher kill count and more damage

The Archbishop of pride subaru was quite evil too I mean he manipula6ed a broken Felix and killed all of the Archbishops and in the end sacrfricied all of his allies and set fire to the entire kingdom and had plans to make the country burn and out of pettiness mocked Reinhard because of the inferiority complex he felt towards Reinhard and hated how powerful he wad he even told Reinhard happy birthday and he even went ahead and abused Return by death doing countless evil deeds and then rambled on to emilia once he saw her and was even laughing and was overjoyed and even when he died he called it a happy ending despite everyone of his allies dying and Emilia being traumatized man was geniunely insane

If you are looking for video ideas you could do which if route would win in a king of the hill scenario, with the first one to break psychologically or be detained loosing until there's only one left, though that will probably be pride, greed or wrath. Personally I think greed would probably win, as he would be the hardest to break and have the best intelligence.
How would you rank all the other IF route Subaru's by their evilness?
I'll give my own personal list;
1) Wrath Subaru for the same reasons that this video provides.
2) Gluttony Subaru because he got Shaula to kill everyone who knew "Natsuki Subaru", which included Emilia.
3) Pride Subaru because he killed alot of people and terrorized an entire country just so he could make Emilia king.
4) Greed Subaru because he became a heartless monster who abuses Return By Death for the stupidest of reasons (such as getting Elsa to kill him just so he could answer Petra's question about the weather).

For me it would be
1) Pridebaru this is because pridebaru has eyes that are filled with madness and which is just like a Witch cultist he even had a evil smile as he killed Betelguese who he had called a Friend previously and he didn't mind sacrificing everything in the end he killed all the Archbishops and Manipulated a Broken Felix and even Burned down the kingdom just out of his pettiness to break Reinhard and pridebaru even abused Return by death to make it all happen and made him hate him to which he seemed happy to see Reinhard in such a state and then he rushed to Emilia where he rambled about everything despite her begging him to stop it and then got her to kill him and was said to die without guilt and had believed it to be a Happy ending
2)Gluttonybaru I mean he's one who geniunely believes Murder is the awnser to all of his problems and he slaughtered Roswall mansion including Petra who was like a Child or teenager and he also Flooded an entire city that was already suffering and was holding onto hope and he did it all to kill a Single person and he had even got Garfiel killed and had also got shaula to slaughter countless villages and would of even had killed a 14 year old girl had she known his name and he also had ideas of using lots of different methods to kill people he even had an actual kill list he was using and used the information he got from the books of the dead and used his hallucinations to help him get information and uses it to kill others and its even said he would go to any means necessary to win in the end
3)Wrathbaru I mean he ruthlessly ordered the death of Roswall and got Emilia without her own opinion and brought her to a room he wouldn't allow anyone in and he made Fredica into his slave maid who had to test his food to make sure it wasn't Poisoned and he had her entire family hostaged and even threatened them with a coin flip and had had always flipped the coin to see if he should let others live or not and he also had tons of influence over an entire criminal originazation and even had ordered the death of some of his Subordinates on the flip of the coin or what he believed necessary and had no problems ordering or threatening the death of those around him
4)Greedbaru he completely and utterly abuses Return by death to the extremes and he had basically forced Felt out of the royal selection and made Reinhard join the Emilia Camp just because he saw Reinhard as someone who could cause problems due to his powerful he was and he also set up things to make Clind die and even used underhanded methods to make it happen and also had said that he didn't think things were too bad and that he would countinue to step over and crush the hearts of others because he knew he would need to, to get the perfect loop he wanted
5) Aganau Subaru he had basically blackmailed Felix and was stubborn and had ignored others for years out of his hatred for Betelguese and his desire to kill Betelguese
6) Slothbaru despite knowing Emilia and the others would die he let it happen though he did feel sad about it and it heavily impacted him but despite all of the bad things that happened Like Crusch getting erased and Felix being broken and Beatrice being in her Forbidden library either Slothbaru who was probably not knowledgeable about all of it but even so he had said he had no regrets and was happy with Rem and his children of course if he did know of the stuff that happened he would feel even more guilty but like said before he was happy with rem
7) Lustbaru honestly the woman in his harem are of age which is quite insane but even so its more of a Joke if so I let it slide
8) EnvyBaru he is an Overall good guy though he has done a few questionable things
9) Vaniglory Subaru he's basically a Normal one

I would disagree, while Wrath is certainly extremely evil he was also driven insane making him somewhat less culpable for his actions.

I still don't get how Ram was still alive after that.
I think there is plot hole there. Ram was injured because of the Ulgarms. Which means she was cursed by them. Since Subaru can’t expel curses she would certainly die.
Either Ram was extremely lucky that she never got bitten but rather injured by their claw or that Tappei forgot about it. Maybe if we ever get a Wrath IF Light Novel we can get a answer to that.

But after knowing that he needs her, he restarted the loop and captured her alive in her weakened state.
So, he either managed to catch her before she was attacked by the beasts, or he SOMEHOW got someone to cure her.
