Any chance you can review the Forte GT manual transmission model? The manual transmission should be good, but I don't know about the turbo. Why not a civic Si? because I'm cheap and don't want to spend extra money if I don't have to and Toyota Corolla no longer has a manual transmission.

Your dad is a smart man. We all know Corollas/Civics are great and they're several thousand dollars more expensive than a new Kia Forte. Not only is the Corolla MSRP higher, Corollas also have markups and accessories which people are happy to pay for since Corollas are in such extremely high demand. My point is, Corollas are expensive nowadays! So no harm in purchasing a cheap new Forte!

I had to raise my seat to make it easier to exit but, the rearview mirror obstructed my vision. I'm 6' tall. CONSUMER REPORTS mentions the ingress and egress was a challenge. I asked a friend to drop me off there the following morning on his way to work. When I got to the dealership, I was crushed to find out that the car I was there to hopefully buy had been sold the previous afternoon. Because it was minus 15 degrees that day, I ended up driving off the lot in a new (leftover) 2020 Rio. 45k miles later, I still wish I'd had the opportunity to look at other vehicles at different dealerships, but it's been a reliable ride and consistently averages 40mpg.

The difference in overall quality is like night and day ,the older Kia is light years ahead of my previous Chevy in comfort size and overall build tolerence. No i am not biased ,i actually retired from the plant that built the Cruze just before they closed it so they could import more Korean made cars. The Kia has 109k miles runs perfectly and as you point out half the price of a Toyota and the Kia is much better on gas mileage ,noy quite as good as the Cruze but is a bigger car

I had my personal one tuned also with Borla exhaust, remapped, EGR commanded to never open which boosted torque from 159 ft pound wheel torque to 212 ft pound wheel torque in a super light car. After tuning it still gets 40mpg and drives mostly like stock unless you hammer it because I left the intake side stock. I'd buy another one for use when I'm in the USA but they will never sell them. Interior is basically like the Kia there, except I added custom leather seats with extra cushion to combat small car ride and my wife is vertically challenged anyway. Went several times on holidays no problems at all, good brakes, heating, airco no turbo only 55 kw and as speed limits are quite strict in Belgium it is very satisfactory for me.
