Combining early TV appearances with their own music films it illustrates how The Doors evolved from the constraints of late sixties television to a point where they had the creative input and power to shape how they were portrayed on screen. Throughout the unique charisma and talent of The Doors comes across, whether it be on a lightweight pop show or on a film created from their own imaginations, along with some of the most influential music ever made.

His hair, eyes, hands and voice...Damn!He is like a poem.
and he probably didn't quite know how difficult his life as an adored rock star would be!
@Vili Koivula Yes :)
@Vili Koivula It’s possible.
@Vili Koivula Intelligent people are often also highly sensitive and vulnerable. I cannot know whether he was able to assess everything exactly. But if it was so, then there is no doubt about his intelligence, but rather distinguishes him as a moving and special soul.
As you see, morrisön. He looks like my 3rd channel.

For those wondering on how Robby Krieger (guitarist) got his black eye: He had been in a car accident days earlier, because of that he almost missed this performance. He wasn't hit by Jim or anything like that. The complete story is his book "Set the Night on Fire".

To know that he did not like pictures of himself smiling, because he was told repeatedly that he had an ugly smile... when he had the most beautiful smile ever!

Gawd I'm so in love with this man 😩 I love his poetry, his intelligence, his voice and his unapologetic expression of who he was. I've been drawn to him for a while now, and find him endlessly fascinating. He wanted to change the world with The Doors music. It was all about expression. He was such a complex person.
The authorities in America were afraid of him and feared he might start a revolution. Well, if he had done, it would have been a non-violent one! Yes, he was fascinating and a very good poet. In fact he wanted to be known more as a poet than a singer I believe. He was good friends with Michael McClure.
Don't forget the booze 🤔
Sure, he was a good-looking, talented guy. He was also constantly stoned and drank like a fish! The other 3 members were all accomplished musicians as well!
What I admire most about Jim is his utter hate for authority and rules. I’m a Doors fan -their music is among some of the best of the Sixties, imo. Jim is a fascinating character, seemingly a walking contradiction of some sort. Good, bad, wild, gentle, funny, serious, like night and day. I’m drawn to his mystical mind and poetry, more so than his (good) looks. Looks are secondary to me and Jim was, in the end, fed up of being a ‘sex symbol’. Personally, I think he looked amazing with the beard.
49 years old.
Just discovered The Doors and totally dig their music.
Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Bless you 🙏
0:58 Manzarek playing keyboards and organ, and directing the band at the same time. Genius
They did not have a bass player on live gigs , so Ray played a Fender Piano Bass to do the bass parts .
Yes, guys who could really play their instruments and were also highly creative in their approach to song writing.
Better look at 1:42
@@paulfuller8985 p
I think that Jim was Cool though, Manzarek didn't have that going for him. And did Jim not write the words, I am not sure about the music but Jim was the Poet.
He took his art very seriously, it's obvious when he closes his eyes and concentrates on the music. The quality of this performance is something unique.

I agree. I love the doors. I love Jim Morrison.
Probably tripping balls as well
The "what was the promise that you made" it's ridiculously catchy, not to mention the trumpets, without a doubt my favorite song from The Doors.
I used to own that VHS back in the 1990s in New Jersey. I can't imagine dying at 27. Man, so much life left unlived. So many experiences never experienced. The Doors definitely had a unique sound. Kudos to them.
Can we talk though about this amazing sax? Like hell yeah!
Curtis Amy on sax! His wife was Merry Clayton who sang the famous female parts of The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter”. What a cool couple they were: jammin’ with The Doors and The Stones!
Yes, fantastic!!! Is this really he, Curtis Amy, on this live, I guess that's him?!
@@OriginalGrasshopper Great story !! And with my favourite band, the Doors, from my teenage yrs, a long, long time ago.

Incredible : the Doors, that harpsichord, those beautiful violins, that mean brass, Sax and blistering climax with justifiable sax solo. Like they say, a masterpiece. Hands up if you are Touched.
The eyebrow lift at 2:01 😍 Jim had such expressive eyes.

Simply wonderful, just pure perfection . The Doors at their best ..
I am in love with this performance. It's atmospheric. Almost ethereal.
Jim: Are you sure you don't want a bass player for the gig?
Ray: Nah, I'm good
Jim: You sure? I mean we've already got mini-orchestra? A bass player wouldn't hurt
Ray: Nah I'm good man.

I could really spend whatever time it is and I will still love it, they will always be one of my favorite bands 💕
I love this version of the song with all those musical instruments and Jim in his angelic way!
Drunken angelic way... 😉🙏🏻
When you're in love with a man that died in the seventies
That man is timeless
Totally agreed.. I 'm a man and a Doors-music fan for a very long time. But always when I see Jim performing on video,I'm surprised by his amazing and beautifull appearance!

Then you can falling in love to me 😊

Every second I look at him and listen to him is magical, we don't get much of this. We all need to enjoy Jim, this is once in a million performance.
if you like this you might like my brothers music. His name is Stu Morris
The Soft Parade perhaps the most underrated album of The Doors, though includes many jewels like Touch me, Wishful Sinkful and the song the same title of the album Really a masterpiece
Let's not forget Tell All the people
Runnin' Blue,sang for Otis Redding.
Ladies and gentlemen, once again, THE KING
Best performance from the Doors!

An absolutely brilliant live performance , pure gold . Imagine being there watching it 😍

Perfect rendition of this song and a perfect background accompaniment as well. My take is that all of them probably loved that particular session on that day.

Simplemente Genial...

Jim liked the crooners, especially Sinatra!

3rd July 2018
On this day 47 years ago, we lost the lizard king, he went on a moonlight drive and broke on through to the other side, we love him two times, we love him madly, he touched us all. But it was not the end. While we wait for the sun, our rider on the storm is lighting the fires on the other side. Rest in peace Jim, thanks for the music.

Slds
