"Funny and Fantastic! The Special Effects are Astonishing." - Marshall Fine, Gannett Newspaper
Just a quick nap and weary stock analyst Nick Halloway is sure he'll emerge as good as new. Instead, he wakes up as good as gone. Vanished. A nuclear accident has made Nick ... invisible!
The laughs and visual effects are out of sight when Chevy Chase headlines Memoirs of an Invisible Man. Invisibility makes it easier to spy on agents (particularly chief adversary Sam Neill) who've put him in his predicament. And he can romance a lovely documentary producer (Daryl Hannah) in a way she's never "seen" before. John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) directs and Industrial Light and Magic create eye-opening effects as Nick embarks on his manic quest. Seeing is believing!

One of John Carpenter's underrated films and one that I still have on VHS.
Hidden gem of a movie. Good SFX for the era.
Always remember this film as a kid, the scene where he smokes a cigarette always stands out in my mind lol
Me too . Great movie
Same here
Or when he eats and you can see everything digest and then he throws up
@@johnny9000 Yeah, that was the part that really stuck with me. Both fascinating and disgusting to the point you can't look away. lol
Underrated film Chevy Chase should have done more films like this one he had a lot of ability outside of his comedic routine that he didn't explore like he did in this film
Chevy wasn’t well-liked. He had a reputation of being difficult to work with. Most of his films were typecast roles and each film got progressively worse. He was also aging and began to be less relevant as the 1990’s pressed on. Sometimes a star’s light just fades.
What is it about the 80s and 90s films seems like the best decades for movies made...
I WANT MY MOLECULES BACK!!!!
Came here for this
I remember seeing this in the theaters in 1992 and never seeing again, anywhere.
CZcams 's quality has gone to crap, but it can still demonstrate flashes of brilliance here and there.
A very underrated film 😎
A totally underrated film and one of Carpenter's AND Chase's best. It hits a delightful medium between the two and is smart and fun...and I am not even really a Chase fan.
I'm about to watch this film for the first time in a very long time. I saw this when it originally came out in theaters I also remember renting it on VHS.
I wish this was on Netflix.
A lot of the effects I remember from this movie inspired my invisible man costume. But I haven't seen this movie in years, wish I could see it again!
You can order it from Amazon. I did but I got my copy from the UK. I do have a universal blu-ray player so I can buy movies that are formatted to a different region. I haven't seen this movie since it came out in theaters. Dad was a fan of Chevy Chase.
I don’t know about you guys, but I watched this movie for Sam Neill.
Exactly what drew me in as a kid. Tbf Chevy chase is only in it for like 5 minutes it seems
Beautiful film
I have been a Chevy Chase fan since he was on SNL. I can't believe I never saw this movie. I never even heard of it until now.
Did u see any of "Vacation" movies with him?
Fun fact: if any of you watch anime or played games, Richard Epcar the voice of Raiden in the Mortal Kombat games, Joker in Injustice 1&2, Batou in Ghost in the Shell and Joseph Joestar in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders is in this movie as one of the agents that's after our main protagonist.
"Oh my god!"-Joseph Joestar
Joseph Joester and Dr. Grant chasing a invisible man from this movie.

An insvisible man...sleeping in your bed. Who are you going to call? GHOSTBUSTERS.
Saw this movie on tv when I was a kid and just rediscovered it…. Can’t believe it’s Chevy chase, Sam Neill, and John Carpenter!?
Throughout the whole movie, in any scene when Chevy Chase is standing in front of people who shouldn't be supposed to see him, I kept thinking: "they should see a log of sh**t floating in the air"...
This movie and Hollow Man show people that being invisible is not as much fun as you might think. Unless you're used to sleeping with your eyes open, you can't sleep well when you can see through your eyelids. Plus, when you eat, the food is seen outlining your stomach. It's never shown or mentioned but I'd hate think about going to the bathroom. Nick basically only has one advantage of Sebastien and that's Nick has a set of invisible clothes to wear but Sebastien has to go naked to be completely invisible.
He can always wear an eye-mask when sleeping.
@@geoffberesford Actually he only has to turn the lights off which is what most of us do anyway.
“I couldn’t sleep at all, I can see through my eyelids.”
(Dramatic sting)
*MY EYELIDS!!!!*
@@tonymata8070 I imagine putting liquor in your eyes would be more painful.
@@user-ng3bg7qw2d Well yeah obviously...... but I was making a joke/reference of Spongebob.
Love this movie.
So was HollowMan with Kevin Bacon based on this?
It is very funny there were two inspirations that were used to create my Man-Bat solo film and the first one was Memoirs of the Invisible Man and the very first season of Batwoman. But it turns out there was a third inspiration and that was the underworld film series
I'd like to see that, what happened in your vision?
This movie is underated. Great flick
now this is what i wanna see a remake of...
One to watch..one of my favorite movies
"Well, well, if it ain't the invisible 🤬" - Butcher, The Boys
I was looking for that movie for my whole life.. the only thing I remembered was flying jeans.
Invisible before he went invisible cause he stood out as a "Joe Nobody".
Anyone else think it's strange that not only is the guy invisible but so's the shirt and suit he wears? (They don't show up in the mirror either.)
he was wearing them in the machine when he got zapped.
I love this movie
Everytime I hear “A John Carpenter film” I still think “Hold up”
Omg the part where his friends r on the beach hooking up
Hilarious
Sam neil was awesome
Bishop Brennan 😂😂😂
they're coming from Gdansk to see the bloody filum!
@@timtrek *Crillyyyyy,* you kicked me up the arse!
Id love to kno what Daryl Hannah thought working with Chevy Chase
Author story was much better than the movie. 4-12-2022
The only adaptation to realize that nowadays people would just try and take advantage of him for “science”, this is probably the second best after hollow man.
Is that Chuck from Better Call Saul at 0:14 right to Chevy Chase?
Wao forgot about this

A nightmare job for John Carpenter.
👍👍
Blank it

Why is this from Shout Factory instead of WBHE?
Because it’s a company the restores cult horror/science fiction kind of films. And this is one of them.
@@drewhughes9127 But shouldn't Warner Bros take the rights back?
@@hamursh yes it’s still under Warner Bros. But they just let them release it as a Blu-ray. It didn’t take the film away in ownership, just a right to restore and distribute their own dvd/Blu-ray of it.
Both are making a profit out of it.

Interesting
The failure of this movie killed John Carpenter's the Creature from the Black Lagoon remake!
I wish that John Carpenter's Creature from the Black Lagoon remake got made!
I never heard that...thats crazy tho J.Carpenter record is stellar and hes one of the greatest American film directors and writers ever !
One little silly hiccup of a film shouldn't of taken that away. His take on CftBL mighta been insanely amazing.
Tho now i hope it never gets made cuz its a classic...unless he directs it.
I heard that Rick Baker was hired to design the Gill Man!
Thank u masters ✍🙏🙏🧘♀️🧘♀️🧜♀️🕎✡✡✡💜💜💜👁🤳
Poor John Carpenter having to deal with this yahoo Chevy Chase...might of been successful if someone else was in it...😐
This movie received bad reviews. The special effects were good but the plot itself seemed weak. What most people said the biggest problem with the film was that Chevy Chase was completely WRONG for the lead role. He's a comedian and this movie is not comedy it's more action and drama. I think either Tom Hanks or Harrison Ford should've played Nick Halloway. I heard that Chevy Chase was one of the people in charge of this and wanted to go for a less comedic role but too many people recognized him as Clark Griswold. This movie wasn't right for him. This was actually around the time when Chevy Chase's career was starting to fall apart.
This movie isn't a comedy?
@@jeremyusreevu237 No I heard that it's a science fiction thriller, from what I can tell it has some witty humor but for the most part it's a straight up serious movie. I honestly want to watch this movie.
@@tonymata8070 It's on Hulu now I believe.
@@jeremyusreevu237 Maybe a little bit. It was funny in some parts.
meh
The book was great. This film was poor
One of Carpenter's absolute worst.
Why?
I agree. Honestly, I think only Village of the Damned and Ghosts of Mars are worse.
@@jamesfanshawe6807 I think Village is really underrated; I agree with Ghost of Mars being awful. Still would put The Ward as his worst.
This doesn't look bad, it looks pretty good in my eyes but the worst film he did was unfortunately Ghosts of Mars.
The failure of this movie killed his remake of the Creature from the Black Lagoon!
