“ When you’re just commuting to work you’re not racing anybody”
Racing the clock boys ,time attack that morning . ;)
Clock racing every morning and night lol.
Errrr day !! lol great comment
Doubt you guys will see this but I want to let you guys know this video series actually inspired me to go out and buy my own CT200h. I searched patiently for 8 months till I found the perfect low mileage Ultrasonic Blue F Sport with low miles. I cannot thank you guys enough this car is the perfect daily driver!
Great to hear! You’ll love it!
Congrats!
Part 3: CT200h track day
This needs to happen now 😂
With upgraded pads and rotors!
Thats just what I was thinking when im in half way of the video lol. Could be fun with suspension brake and new tire setup
Part 4: buying a new daily for my wife
@@alpineweissm7501 😂
My friend has one, I mocked him for it being a Prius until I sat in it, those seats are hands down the most comfortable seats my butt has ever had the pleasure of!
Never hate on Lexus everyone will say it's a rebadged Toyota. Until you work on the production lines see the differences first hand
@@FATmenDRIVEtrucks its very obvious the Lexus build quality is far above anything in the industry.
@@FATmenDRIVEtrucks lexus are good and relaible cars to play with. Old lexuss are incredibly comfortable and cheap to own/insure as well. You can feel the toyota relaibility philosophy in the very nature of lexus
Okayyyyy
Yeah even though the suspension on these things has to be relatively firm due to the overall weight added via the hybrid systems you really cant complain when the seats cushion impacts so well.
great great car... I love mine too, feel super solid, super safe, you drive for 10 hours and you jump off and feel relaxed, cost nothing to keep, reliable like a tank... the most underrated and misunderstood car of the market here in Italy
Part 3: K-Swapping my wife’s CT-200h !
Nah, a 2JZ-gte. Gotta put a reliable Toyota engine in a Toyota vehicle.
K-swap the world. Lol
@@Frexican54 2JZ wouldn’t fit😂
EmeliaHartford made a turbo-K-swap Prius LOL
Folks. AWD turbo swap
its a toyota so parts are cheap... my tacoma would disagree...
Try owning a german car. Parts for my GX460 are cheap comparitavely
My Yaris would agree hehehehe
@@theworksho3947 I kinda want a Yaris so I can mod it cheaply and rip it around. Is there much of a aftermarket for them? I think it’s be pretty cool to see cheap newer cars getting modified.
@@jackb9199 The new Yaris is a mazda2 in disguise
@@alanhung1428 ooooo I did not know that. That’s awesome.
I also daily a CT, my wife previously owned a Prius. The CT is basically all the good stuff of the Prius (reliability, running cost, silence..) without the bad ( handling, interior materials) plus it looks fantastic, especially with the F-sport package.
Only big drawback, it’s much smaller inside than the Prius..
It's OK since I'm always alone in my ct 200h, My big suv is parked in garage new escalade
Had mine about 6 weeks, thought I’d made a mistake selling my 428i but spending some time with the car I love it! Looking forward to running it to 300k miles and saving a fortune!
you did good getting rid of that bmw, after 60k miles they are a headache
I’m in this same boat, looking to sell my 428i
Ive exclusively driven BMWs for over 10 years. Love the way they look, drive, feel, almost everything but I can't keep revolving my life around maintenance. Been looking into Lexus as a compromise.
Im in love with my wife's CT200h , I accidently met Peter back in the fall when I purchased some floor mats on Kijiji from his for the car and he's really a great guy in person . Awesome work Speed Academy !
0:58 Dave: Don't get carried away, Pete 😂
I have a 2015 CT200h since 2 years now. It's very reliable, comfy, nice luxury from Lexus. In sport mode, it's very fun. Very cheap to maintain. I love it!
These blokes are so cool, love this channel.
I get 55 mpg out of my CT consistently. It's so much fun to drive it, because it just works. Greatings from Germany :)
I was getting 54mpg on the highway but that has slipped. I think I need new spark plugs.
Did he just say 35mpg? That's worse than any 2L diesel or petrol. I drive the ct200h as well i get 50-56mpg in winters and 65-73mpg in summers. UK...
Good to hear
i did 60mpg st my first fill
Hmmm. I'm doing good to get 44mpg in mine. It's only rated to get 42mpg. I wonder what you guys are doing differently than me to get such crazy mileage numbers?
Still a great channel after all the years. Love all these different builds. I have personally was looking for a CT200H as well. Thanks for selling me on a good choice.. :) Keep up the great work fellas!
I love my ct200 sport just got it for a commuter car saves me a ton of money on gas and it’s still super luxurious. Thanks for making the video.
The moment when you watch the video, read the comments and really want to buy that car... and then remember that you already own it. Bought it a bit more than a year ago (build 2012), and really enjoy it. Very pleasant and smooth ride, practical controls, great looks and also here in Germany, it's also quite a unique car (not like the regular boring golf).
Ive had mine for 3 years. Absolutely love it, you never see these!
Lexus CT200h is my daily too.. 😂
I nearly bought one but the back seats were a little tight. I really liked it!
@@marcusmcneal7453 I never ride in the back seat :)
That was the problem with this car when it was new, people thought it was just a dressed up Prius.
which it is
@@averagebro413 except it isn't. Completely different platform, suspension, weight, centre of gravity.
@@averagebro413 ur wrong actually, feels nothing like one
@@truantray its a same platform
@@truantray no, it's exactly the same platform.
Yes the suspension is different and it has all different parts, but the platform is the same.
Pete's wife: Does any of this have a point??? :D
Nope not at all
Wife drove one of these for years, great car. Although I may be biased, we are a Lexus family. She got into an LX when we had our son.
looking to buy my first car and thought about the Lexus CT200h and this video really made the final decision i wanted and feel satisfied to say i will get this car, thank you for the review !
Love my 2017 CT FSport. I got a royal blue model and added solid black slot hole rotors with Stop Tech brakes and royal blue Stop Tech brake calipers. Added 4 NICHE - M190 GAMMA Matte Black rims 18inch with Michilen All Season radials. I got it in July 2021 with 15k miles and now has 24k miles. I love the MPG.
I’m a huge fan of the CT ! Had one for years then gave it to my daughter at 16. I still think they are really good looking, and a fantastic stereo system.
I have owned a CT now for 6 years and I am still impressed every time I roll, I commute 40 miles each way and completely impressed every day if I don’t speed I get 43-47 mpg, I must say I will add 18” wheels once I have seen your CT, mine is a 13 and I added a piece of black vinyl to the center front bumper, if you feather the pedal I can stay in E mode up to 40 mph, mine has 150k miles and my plan is to add the front bumper upgrade plus clean the egr cooler. Love the car and looking for a 17 moving forward. Great car! Must add car play.
If I cruise at a higher speed 80+ I see 35-38 mpg.
I currently own an 07 IS250 which I love with all my heart, but it has 270k miles, the clear on the roof is all but gone, and it’s getting old and tired to the point where I didn’t trust it to get me to work for another year. Not wanting to spend 50k(with interest) on a 2015 IS350. I settled on getting one of these for a year or two which would put me in a much better position to get a much newer is350 in the future (hopefully a 2021+). Tonight possibly being my last night with my old IS, I took her for one final flat out rip with tears rolling down my cheeks. This video (and part 1) made me feel so much better about my decision. Thank you so much, sub for life. (Idk if you can tell but I’m really in my feelings rn lol)
As far as I remember, Sport mode changes the inverter from 450 volts to 600 volts. So the battery assist is stronger.
I have a 2011 CT too and your two videos made me fall back in love with my car!
I bought mine in March, 2013 FSport model. Got it for 16k with 78k miles on it. Love the drive and feel of the car! (And getting to save on gas)
We had this as a family car for a few years 166.000km no problems except for regular maintenance great car
another awesome vid - well done. Thanks for the update and on the distance to travel daily! Enjoying seeing more of the vlog style
Love this car, just bought wheels for mine yesterday.
Yay! Love my ct200h, I'm a car reviewer and this model still beats so many new cars in so many ways!
What year do you have
I drove a 2016 Ford C-MAX for work in 2017. Put about 22k on it in a year or so and loved driving it. Was a great commuter car, but with a larger gas tank. I would routinely get 700-800KM's a tank w/o trying and cost about $45 to fill.
You guys are awesome, keep up the good work!
Great content thanks for the review, going to look at one this saturday
I had one of these, I totally agree, for the money you can't beat them, they handle really well, tons of grip, lets not kid ourselves they're not a rocket but they can get right along. Classy looks with sporty handling what's not to love? oh wait... 40mpg without even trying? yeah... I'd buy another one if my commute was longer. They need driven so the batteries stay healthy and my commute right now is barely 3mi one way.
This is why we can't have nice things, Peter!
I just picked up a 2012 200H with 59k miles today. We had one back in 2012-14 and have missed it ever since it went away. Love this car. I’m a 6’ 230 dude who fits it like a glove.
post a review man, would love to see it
@@tsering4966 My review would be boring. Love the gas mileage and the comfort of the drivers seat. Drove 600 miles without any fatigue this week. If I stay of the gas, not my nature, I get 40 mpg. Normal driving I am getting 36 mpg. Nav system is a little laggy but functional. With the current direction the gas prices are headed I would like to buy another for my wife.
@@grailguns7278 thank you for the reply, appreciate it! I am looking to buy a car soon and thinking of buying one. I dont really care much for speed but do you notice the the lack of power driving it daily.
@@tsering4966 on eco mod it is not fast by any means. Switched to sport mode and it is noticeably quicker. If I have to merge into fast moving traffic it does pretty good. The only draw back to this early model is the road noise. I understand the later models have better sound dampening. I still love this car and would buy another.
@@grailguns7278 i see. Thanks man appreciate the info!! And m glad u love the car still

Usually people are negative about car reviews, luv his positivity! Nice Car!
Really excellent video and part 1 was interesting & informative as well
In the past i would always lease vehicles because I'd be ready for something else after a few years. I have a 2015 ct200h F sport and i still love it!
The PRIUS does have a sports mode .still a great video despite this minor error keep up the great work guys
leather too & 50mpg not 40 not quiet tho that's why I'm looking at this video
Having one of these, I can't agree more, these things are gems. Not super fast, but comfy, reliable and handles very well. I keep it in normal, don't drive like a madman and I get 48mpg pretty reliably. EV mode is kind of a joke as it only goes for about a mile.
We have a 2015(?), and when I'm driving I get about 46 mpg, my wife gets over 49mpg though ! Absolute great daily driver
Love my CT a lot. Greetings from the Netherlands
My mom has the middle ground between the CT200H and the Prius, the Auris, wich is the european Corolla hatch, and it is great for city driving, but terrible on the highway, very unstable and unresponsive, even in sport mode. And I agree with you about the fuel tank being too small.
A few things guys. I own a 2017 Ct200h:
The interior is not leather.
It's not the prius chassis, nor is the drive train the same.
The gas tank is not small, it easily gets 600km range because its a hybrid.
Sport mode just affects throttle response.
In eco, you save 20% more fuel, and the car runs more often in EV mode.
It only makes 130hp, so I fail to see the point of wide tires which will just waste gas.
It's the same weight or lighter than Prius models, due to aluminum parts, hood, trunk lid. It's much lower CoG makes it corner better than most hatchbacks.
You buy this car because it saves thousands a year in gas and pays for itself in 10 years, which it will, because its not a crap hatchback like the Focus, Golf, Kia, etc. The build quality is at another level.
New tires and rims, but no TPMS?
At 5.8l/100km, you must be two pedal driving.
And finally, that front lip will not last a winter.
Also, these comments about the battery... it's NiMH , has a TEN YEAR warranty, and they have been seen to last 300,000 miles +. Because its a hybrid, brakes last forever and the gas motor gets a fraction of the use of a regular car, and does not idle. Battery replacement is rare and costs $4000, but this car can save you $3000/yr in fuel costs.
Jeez are you a salesman? Lol I want one now.
uh...... so much misinformation & haterade. So...... Standard was NuLuxe synthetic "leather" and upper grades got leather. So there is leather available on CT200h. 1.8L eCVT hybrid 2ZR-FXE... were in ZWA10 and XW30 both based on the MC platform.....so the platform is shared w Prius. Sport mode doesn't just affect throttle response, it adds 100V more output (500-->600V). Sport mode changes not only throttle but also Electric Power Steering (EPS) settings are modified to give a faster response to driver inputs. In addition, Sport mode provides less intrusive operation of the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) systems.
The battery replacement (very similar to Prius, same battery modules I believe) isn't too bad if you know how to balance the cells and replace those that are failing. I had to replace 8 cells in my 2010 Prius with 80k miles. I suspect they failed due to the car being shipped from Japan after sitting for who knows how long on a car lot. $4,500 car (+$2,000 shipping), $300 batteries and it's now getting 50+ mpg (4.5l/100km) avg.
Good ✍️ write-up. Thanks
Man makes me want to hook up my ct200h, no lie it’s small and slow. Even in sports mode. But it rides and handles soo good.
Yes. But it does have momentary power bursts.
I really liked this video series.
I see a white 5th gen 4runner in the background. Any plans for that?
Mine 2013 , got 240000 km on it , I changed brakes pads after 120000 km, maximum on full tank i got 730km per fill, besides brakes , fuel, and oil , zero maintenance cost , sport mode kicks in great after 120km speed, handling just amazing , drove behind a Porsche in heavy rain going 170km for about 60 km which was stupid and reckless of me , but man the dude in a Porsche after stopping in gas station said , I can't believe that you were able to keep up with me in this lexus handling this rain , seats are just insanely comfortable , used to do uber and ppl just fall sleep , all uber rider says this car so damn weirdly quite and comfortable, and they all just love it, engine so reliable that some uber driver in New York get in thier prius which is similar engine to the lexus ct almost 1 million km , and its not a fast car by any mean to race which will safe you alot of tickets , if want to buy safe, reliable, affordable, luxury, economy, almost environment friendly car that lasts you over 15 years , go for this one, just check hybrid battery cells and good to go
The suspension in these are sourced from the Scion TC2 platform so they're quite sporty in the twisties unlike the prius which doesn't have independent rear suspension. There's turbo kits for the 2ZR engine as well, but the hybrid version has 13:1 compression so not recommended.
I do like these. I'm terms of mileage when I had my CR-Z I got a bit better mileage, with around 5.5-5.6ltrs 100km. I then got a fit & was getting about 5.8ltr per 100km. Both 6 speed manuals.
Definitely try a honda accord hybrid gen 10! I picked one up for my daily once I come back to the US and I live it. It will definitely help supplement the evo!
I love that car!! I just can work it my budget.
Please make more CT videos 🙏🏻 would love to see a noise reduction door seal install
Loved the look of a CT, wish to own one whenever i have money to import it
I own one . I love it so much.
Just when I swayed away from buying a CT, you convinced me to reconsider! If only you could get commission for the sale
I have one of these, a 2011 as well. I also have a 2009 Shelby GT500 and I have to tell you, as much as these cars are different they are both fun in their own way. The CT takes curves like a champ... really surprising. Of course the quarter mile on my GT500 is 10.6 versus the Lexus it's just not comparable if course, I would love to install that front lip, where could I get one of those?.... Word to the wise, careful about the head gaskets on this engine. Bought mine used at 260Km and immediately had to spend 2000$ at Toyota for a head gasket. Still a great car and now runs great! No regrets.
Love my ct. I want these wheels now
I commute in an older Lexus GS 350. bulletproof reliability, quiet smooth ride and 30mpg on the freeway
Great vid just got 2017 ct 200h
I bought my wife a 2012 ct200 2 years ago with 70,000 miles 50,000 later wow what a great buy no maintenance done just new tires and oil change
Previously owned a CT as well. Loved mine. I even would take it to AutoX and it would be super fun! Also, you never have to change the brake pads! They last up to 100k
Watch the prices of CT200h's go up lol
I bought one with 28,000 kms this summer quite cheap because everyone only wants fatass trucks now. With gas savings, in ten years its a free car.
They did as of yesterday
They did in Australia by 5-6k...
I got one with 56,000 miles and while in the market for one, the prices were already on the raise.
From future can confirm prices are stupid
great review
Can you make a video about installing wireless charger and android auto & apple carplay aftermarket unit on the ct200h?
I’ve been looking at doing this as well
I got mine and added a Apple CarPlay module and it’s a gem.
I own a 2015 F Sport and it’s the best daily you can buy. It’s not fast, but it’s quick and handles awesomely. Super comfortable seats too. Sport mode is nice and very responsive. I’m in Europe so I can fill the tank with 60€ and it lasts 800km in eco mode. I’m very satisfied. One complaint is about the tyres: it came with Yokohama and I didn’t like them, so I put Continental on and the car became a bit boring for my tastes. I want to try some Toyo to make her livelier because I enjoyed them on my previous car.
I think the gas tank is good. The tank fills up and my bathroom or food breaks match up just fine. I drive the car 15hrs straight. Was shopping for my 2nd Prius when I saw one of these on a CarMax lot.
Where did you find the front lip? I have one and love how it looks. I own a 11 CT200h, as well as a S2000 and a C5 Z06. This car is not built for speed, but is still a phenomenal car to own, specifically if I can make it look like this.
i just got my 2018 ct200h with 25.000kms and did 25.3km/L real (board computer said 24.5). which is 60 mpg. what an amazing car...
These cars have always kind of intrigued me. I always thought they were dressed up Priuses. I like how they look, I just figured they were a snooze fest
In sport mode, I find it bearable. It depends on the type of car enthusiast you are. If you like pure speed, stay far far away.
For me, I have an FR-S as my toy car (slow in the world of toy cars) and have always valued cornering above straight line. So the poor acceleration of the CT is made up for because of the independent suspension, short wheelbase and pretty decent steering. Plus it’s sooo much more chill and luxurious than the FR-S.
It is a prius with a body kit
@@ReubenHorner it really is
So y'all are telling me the 95 accord I drive is faster than this CT?
I want one because I'm driving 550 miles a week. The accord is ok but but gas prices are rising. So it's either the CT 200 or a prius, but I like the CT more. Yet the MPG is less than a prius
Economy sporty awesome car nice review lovely info
I strongly considered buying a used CT-200h. I had concerns about costs associated with replacing the battery so ended up buying an ES350.
I have a 2011 CT.. I absolutely love it. I was wanting to know if you have a part number for that front lip. And also want to know if I got new coils would it make my ride better. I don't want to lower it at all. And I also want to go 16inch wheels as so I can have a thicker tire. Someone had put 18's with low profile tires on it before I bought it and it rides really rough. And makes my entire interior rattle a good bit. Also did you replace the underneath splash that comes with the car? I don't think I saw it at all when you were under the car.
Let's not get carried away here buddy, it's a Prius with a leather interior 😂😂😂 that was good Dave!! The CT-200 is looking great guys 👌🏻
Very good car 😁👍🏻
Hey Pete love your videos...can you pls add the year of the car to the title of the videos you post. Like the mods, that front bumper and the rims/wing visor really changed the look of that car.
Hello,
I am about to order new rims and tires for my CT200h and I would really appreciate if you could tell me if you have had ANY rubbing while turning with that size of rims and tires.
Thank you in advance.
Jorge
I am getting one Friday. Trading in my Mazda5. I was initially bummed about the slow acceleration, but I am watching videos and feeling better. The Mazda is very zippy, like if you need to pass and punch it, it goes. But it's getting old (2008) and I drive my grand kids and I have a car that goes fast, so the CT is really for commuting and for the grand kids.
You guys are selling me on this!!!
I learned how to drive on a CT200h ! Its a great car. And yes sport mode does actually change how the car accelerated a little bit. Its a cool car! Eco mode is just... itll take loke 15 seconds to get to highway speeds hahaha. Great mods guys!
The Honda CR-Z is another semi-sporty hybrid to consider if you don't mind losing rear seats. Can even get them with a manual, though the CVT is more efficient.
My girlfriend has a crz and it actually handles really well ! Just wish it had back seats
Do a pickup pump my ride...
You know...to pull the track car
Hey SA did you guys install any aftermarket arms when installing the coil overs? How was your alignment afterwards
Nice ride pt
Man I get a little over 300mi to a tank and I have a 25gal tank. Got to love that f250 life! 10.5 mi/gal is my average!!!
I am looking to buy a 2012 Lexus CT200H , I have read a few reviews regarding the engine and having to replace the head gasket. How many miles does the car have and have you experienced any engine issues?
Speed Academy, are there any way to increase hp for ct200h ? Did u try to supercharge it ?
Wow a CVT transmission, my old Ford Freestyle had one. It actually was very quiet and smooth. It was worrisome at 175k miles even with the servicing we still unloaded it at 200k. What is the expected life on the Lexus?
Quick one mate if you don't mind
Thinking of upgrading the rims to 18' 8.5 which tire size would you recommend keeping in mind that I will keep the stock suspension?
Hey Peter, have you had any issues with a clogged EGR? I'm looking to purchase a 2016 CT but I'm reading many people having issues with the EGR. Any advice will help :)
Mod your prius DP! 🙌🏼
Can you recomend any space-saver after market wheel for this lexus? The one I have came with tyre repair kit.
