Filipinos love to chat, which makes solo travel in the Philippines much more enjoyable! The Filipinos in the Philippines speak English extremely well, which makes traveling around the Philippines much easier for tourists. Filipinos are known for being some of the most welcoming people in the world.

I just got back from Manila and I had no cash when I was at the airport. I went to a fast food place in the baggage checkin area only to find they didn’t take credit cards. A Filipina saw that I couldn’t buy a burger and insisted that she buy me a burger. What a nice country and wonderful people.

no matter how hard the life of Filipinos is. when you go to their house, even if they are poor, they will let you use their most special blanket. which they don't use and only for special guests. That’s how we follow the culture of our country. Enjoy it.

the people from the provinces are probably much more chatty based on your observation because they pretty much know each other in that area or they know if you are a local or not and so they are naturally interested to know what brings you to their place, while in metro Manila, people come from different places and people are so used to seeing foreigners coming to Manila, but also, people are cautious because you don't really know what type of people you are encountering in Manila, but people in Manila are generally nice, too, and i think you know that by now.

Thanks again for the kind words about Filipinos :)
Yeah, i think i said that too before about the pros of traveling alone. You will generally get noticed and approached more by the locals. Plus you yourself are more immersed in the situation and surroundings. But really, you exude a lot of positive vibes too with your ever present smile and charisma. So that's a big factor too. Plus you're very polite and such a gentleman. I think it's because you grew up in a small town (am i right?). Coz city folks in the US tend to be a bit cynical at times (like those 2 American vlogger cousins who i am really not liking, lol).
About ease of communication, that's because English is an official language here, and PH is also the 4th or 5th largest English-speaking country in the world. I actually just watched an interview with an Aussie living here. He's lived in Thailand too for 2 yrs and said the language barrier there can get mentally tiring. And at his age, he said he's just not up to learning a new language anymore. And some people just don't have the knack for it. That's why he greatly appreciates that English here is widely spoken. Plus most everything (signs, documents, etc) is in English which makes life much easier for him. :)
And oh, i prefer sunrise over sunsets too. I guess because it's so symbolic of new beginnings and leaving the mistakes of the past behind. 🌄

Jonathan, if you ever notice Filipinos laugh around hysterically when you are talking to them, that is because they can't contain their giggle and just laugh at it because they find it funny speaking to a foreigner in English because they are not used to it. It's not like they are mocking or making fun of you, they just find it funny and please don't look at it as offensive. It's like our natural reaction to everything unusual is to laugh, and I bet you noticed that every time you talk to some locals. Really looking forward for you to finally find a place to settle in. I also have a suggestion, try to do Fiesta Hunting in Philippines. Not a lot of people is doing that, and the Philippines has fiestas in every city, through out the whole year. Sinulog in Cebu is coming near and I hope you experience it.

January: Sinulog Month (not only in Cebu but also in ilo-ilo as Ati-atihan then Nazareno in Manila)
3rd Sunday of January: SINULOG Grand Mardi Gras
Whole Month of May: Bohol but Starts at May 1: Tagbilaran or just search Fiestas on Bohol there's a schedule there
      October: Lansones Fiestival
      August: Butuan City
etc etc etc... all I know almost every sunday there's a specific barangay or barrio having fiesta.
