The model of the second tank is not mentioned, but given that tanks are almost always deployed in mutually supporting pair if not entire platoons it is likely the second tank was also a Tiger.

    13:00 not in WWII, but in WWI, there were people that did hip fire the Lewis Gun in combat. I believe the Canadians also made a sling for the Lewis Gun so it could be easily fired from the hip.
    Also, in game, you can fire the Bren from the shoulder and use the iron sights. You can only hipfire the Lewis Gun in game by bracing it.

      This was done in tandem to moving. Firing while moving to keep the enemy's head down was the theory. I don't know if there was any study or reports done on its effectiveness but I doubt it actually was especially if done with bolt-actions but it was a new type of war with millions of bodies, can't really blame the people back then for trying to figure it out.

      Most countries in WWI did it - the tactic was called 'walking fire' and the intent was basically to provide some form of suppression while you advanced on a trench. It didn't work and was terribly dumb, but it was early days for modern warfare.
      It's funny Johnathan brings this up almost every time with the Lewis gun but his friends at C&Rsenal had an entire segment on it in their Lightening series and everyone was able to do it. The biggest issue was mostly bracing the gun so it could actually properly cycle, and that was only an issue with Mae. Even she was able to just hold the thing and fire from the hip fine otherwise :V

    I fired a Bren last summer. One thing worth noting is that the gun will continually push back towards the shooter with the bipod deployed, so controlled bursts are ideal.

    • @jonathanferguson1211
      @jonathanferguson1211 Před 2 měsíci +15

      Absolutely, you always want to use short bursts. But the Bren's buffering and weight means that with proper technique (lying directly behind the gun, toes into the ground and braced forward into the bipod) you can deliver longer bursts with some accuracy than most equivalent guns.

    Lighting error, happens with pretty much every gun, its a good way to find someone hiding in bushes because it picks up other people's muzzle flashes.

    With regards firing the PIAT from other than prone, I believe that Maj. Robert Cain VC is reported to have done just that at Arnhem. It was also claimed that Cain fired a 2in mortar horizontally either from the hip somehow braced sideways.
    EDIT: The big almost ghost ring battle-sight on the No4 is, in my opinion of turning targets, probably easier to snap shoot with than those on the SMLE. The SMLE rear-sight is a long way from your eye and takes a bit of time to acquire while the aperture is just naturally in front of your eye when you bring the rifle up.

    Just watched the Akimbo episode and I have to say, I'd go nuts to see dual wielding attempted with machine pistols by Jonathan Ferguson Keeper of Firearms and Artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK which houses thousands of iconic weapons from throughout history. Maybe a pair of skorpions? Both from the hip, just dumping downrange and seeing how many rounds get near the paper target.

    A lot of those videos are shooting outside when you shoot inside it has more of an echo which is really cool that they did that because not many games change the difference from inside shots to outside shots specially when it comes to decibels but I think that's just for hearing purposes I'm not sure I couldn't tell you I mean whatever but when it comes to accuracy of firearms this is one of the few games that get it right when it comes to Old world war II firearms

    As an old soldier I loved the LMG (7.62). Hated carrying the thing. Absolutely hated the release catch which used to get caught up in my webbing belt sometimes causing the entire weapon to disintegrate. Not good in the dark in the middle of a wood.
    But firing it?
    Could hit a mosquito up the backside at 300 yards.

    One of the next games to review guns on should be Pavlov VR. It has many of the weapons in this game with the WWII game modes while also having many modern weapons in the rest of the game with what is in my opinion some of the best weapon mechanics in VR when it comes to operation and interaction with folding/extending stocks, open bolt weapon mechanics, and even how you charge certain weapon systems after reloading them

    the No1 MkIII originally wasn't in the game because they wanted to balance the British by giving them a P14 with only 5 rounds but it was wildly historically inaccurate so they conceded and went with the No1 which performs pretty much the same as the No4, just personal preference on what sights you prefer.
