The M6 rocket was loaded into the M1 bazooka and the round made contact at the widest part of the rocket, at the large box near the rear of the tube, as well as by a fin at the opening. This design proved very unreliable.

Please return Jonathan back to PAYDAY 2 again.
It seems more DLC weapons like McShay weaponry could be another to look for, such as the:
    - Standard Manufacturing SKO-12
    - Vollmer HK51B
    - NIGHTHAWK CUSTOM Korth NXA
    - SAINT Victor .308 AR-10
    - Ohio Ordnance H.C.A.R.
    - Thompson/Center Arms G2 Contender
Or maybe let him talk about the two John Wick weapons, the TTI TR1-Ultralight and H&K P30L.

On the FG42 deflector, I've seen multiple examples where there is a forward slant to it, but sometimes there isn't. The original prototype defector was also straight. It may be a variance depending on when it was made, it may also be a result of damage in some cases. Hard to know.

Might be an editor error, or Jonathan looking at the wrong part of the FG42(which i doubt), but when Jonathan points out the cartridge deflector being too perpindicular to the gun than the museum reference at 5:19, the screen shows a photo of the charging handle of the FG42 and not the actual cartridge deflector. Don't know if anyone else noticed this.

Hip-firing the MG-34 (and MG-42) by gripping the bipod is described explicitly in Heeresdienstvorschrift 130/2a (Army Regulation 130/2a, March 1941). To quote from memory: "The LMG is to be loaded with a 50-round belt box, and the strap adjusted to that it may be worn on the right side of the body. (smaller riflemen may shorten the sling by looping it around the grip.) The right hand is used to keep the machine gun pressed closely to the body, and the left hand is to grip the bipod to the side, and control the aim in this way. Fire is to be opened at the shortest distance, and the shooter must reach over the feeder with his right hand to disengage the safety only before firing." There's more about unjamming only from prone and things like that, but it was explicit trained technique.

The bazooka definitely is a high explosive warhead. Newtons third says that to send the plasticised 'carrot' out with that amount of force, the same amount of explosive force goes out in all the opposing directions. So definitely a blast on the target. Some flame definitely, but I have no idea about the quantity.

1:25 In general, early man portable anti-tank rockets (MANPATS/MPATS) and their launcher were in their infancy. The M1 Bazooka and RPzB 54 "Panzershreck" essentially being the first generation of such a system. The M1 had a rough effective range of 140 yards, but could be fired against area targets further away. While the rockets were effective at knocking out tanks, the user both has to be within range (which is already too close) and has to not miss. The rocket motors were inefficient giving the projectiles a low velocity and a low range. The M1 was more effective as an anti-structure weapon than as an anti-tank tool, but a brave enough soldier could very well knock out a tank with one.

Just a note about the G43: In real life the primary method of reloading was via stripper clips through the top and NOT switching out the magazines. Most troops issued the G43 Were issued only 1 or 2 spare magazines (sometimes NO spare magazines), and were given pouches of 5 round stripper clips. More often than not- reloads were similar to the 10 round Enfield reloads.

G43, SVT-40: Given the severe resource shortages, how often would soldiers actually be issued spare magazines? Would they use stripper clips instead?
Luger: How often would Germans actually carry a spare magazine? What about non-officers?
Browning 1919a6: How would a single soldier actually shoot this thing if the ammo box is not attached to the gun? Loose belt or something?

If anyone is curious were to look for german Wehrmacht training manuals look for the H. Dv 130/2a. Thats the Manual for Weapon training and squad tactics. As far as i know there are versions of that dating up to 1942. So they cover the most common weapons in use of the Wehrmacht up to 1942.

6:00 small detail to note, the flame thrower shown in the game is not very realistic. in the game it depicts the fuel being poured out instead of a spray, because flamethrowers spray the fuel, it doesnt pour it out as depicted in the game giving it that more round look rather than a outwards cone spraying effect.

03:08 - the reason the muzzle flash light can be seen here is because calculating shadows for a light source is very expensive (in terms of performance) and in Unreal Engine 4 - which this game uses - you can only have 4 shadow-casting Lightsources overlapping at once. So most lights used for effects like muzzle flashes, sparks, and some explosions are all simple point lights with no shadows, anything else would be overkill and cause issues if it happened to go over that 4 shadow budget. In a modern engine a simple light is very cheap to render, and most of the time you don't really notice that the shadows are missing.

12:45 Not really, back when I was an MG sql I fired the MG3 very effectively from the hip and I'm by no means big or had much upper body strength. Well, 181 cm and 70 kg. Very slim, I could walk for days though. What I found to be the best way to hipfire was to have the canvas sling across from the opposite shoulder so the weight was no issue and have the left hand grasp the bipod all the way in by the barrel shroud. Not at the very end like in this game. Gave me much more muzzle control. We did a number of drills like this; advancing, firing, advancing, firing. Multiple targets etc. Max range was 50 m. Closest was 5. Small bursts of 2-5 bullets to the chest was no problem after some practice.

    • @DangerIncFilms
