Wow!! How sad for BOTH families involved!! It's heartbreaking enough to lose a loved one, but to end up cremating the wrong person because of sheer carelessness on behalf of the funeral home is ABSOLUTELY devastating!! Let's hope lessons are learned from this whole mess, and that it does NOT happen again!!
Something similar happened in Singapore a few years ago!! It was extra upsetting for all concerned because both families were of different religions, and were VERY upset and angry that their loved ones were given funeral rites that were different from their religious beliefs!! How upsetting for the poor families!! XXXX

In doing IT work, I've gone to a few funeral homes interested in upgrading their operations. I would say, probably 5 our the 8 I've looked at were at least 50 to 60 years behind in their operations. Writing things by hand. Placing note cards on bodies to track them. Same with cremations. A business size card being used all the way through the process. Accounting done on old school ledgers and were often wrong. Grounds and buildings hadn't been updated in decades. Incrediably old family running the place. Many of which said they didn't want to be there but had no choice. They wanted to retire. The other homes had done at least some updating but were very scared of updating again because they didn't think they could learn new methods. And most of the employees did not want to change things or update. Once again, an older crew used to doing things the same old way grandfather used to do it. Morgues are really not much better. Basically, after you're dead, there's no more money in you for the hospital to make. They just want you out of there as quickly as possible. So I can see mix ups occuring and I'm rather surpised that more mix ups don't occur. So the real question is: how many mix ups have occured and not been caught and corrected? My guess: a lot!!!

I feel terrible for the families involved. There is really no excuse for this kind of incompetence. Hopefully, the funeral home corrected its operating procedures,
using a written process in addition to the computer system, as a means of
    checks and counter checks.
    Thank you very much Tony,
    for another fine video.
PS. You want something else to
    check out? How about this?
    Exploding caskets in a mausoleum?
    What do you think?

These things happen & most mishaps are caught beforehand. Names on ankle bands & toe tags should be crosschecked before release to FH's. Sometimes family members will die together in housefires or auto accidents & it's crucial to get all names correct. Larger hospitals have barcode systems & incoming patients are checked via positive ID before processing. ER's are different- some will arrive with no name with hopes they can be ID'ed upon admission. In a few instances, hospital morgues may have more than 1 deceased person with the same last name & they're not related.

@@CryptDoor their faces were priceless when I pointed it out.It didn’t really affect us as it was my dad but paperwork in this industry is very important and if they are getting that wrong it’s not good.

Terrible indeed however I still blame at least 25% the fault of the hospital. And I’ve never heard of security guard delivering remains…pass part of the buck is my opinion. Crematorium deserves more then a slap on the hand of 2 months suspension. Very sad indeed

So many fails on what should be a normal thing. the security guard is kind of odd they should be only responsible in protecting bodies but could be different there. it should be doctors aids to know what body belongs to who. it sure puts familys thru more stress

it was few years ago in the southeast states that a creamatorium left like 300 bodies lying around due to a breakdown but made like they burnt bodies gave ashes to funeral home who passed on to family i think . Bodies where put in a shed , basement and somewhere else. the place was shut down and bodies where reidentifed but bad ordeal
